[Bug 198420] Re: Keyboard layout settings not saved after reboot

2008-05-07 Thread Arek
Same with Polish keyboard after upgrade to 08.04
I looks like more people have same problem
http://www.forum.ubuntu.pl/showthread.php?t=56449&highlight=klawiatura

It was working fine in last 4 or 5 version of Ubuntu, so it is typical
regression bug.

[Bug 139313] Re: nvidia dual head twinview (pseudo-xinerama): gnome-panel and maximized windows span both heads on first login

2007-11-05 Thread Arek
I have the same problem after upgrade to Gutsy.

If I don't stop Xgl with ~/.config/xserver-xgl/disable I always get "You
don't appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X
configuration file (just run 'nvidia-xconfig' as root), and restart the
X server." and I'm not able to set correctly 2 monitors.

I have Geforce GO 7400 and use "new" driver.

[Bug 63336] samba not upgraded by Edgy update manager

2006-10-01 Thread Arek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Then updating from Dapper to Edgy with "gksu update-manager -c -d" this error
was returned:
"subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 102"

Running suggested command "dpkg --configure -a" (with sudo) return
immediately without doing anything.

Messó speaks the truth! I've also killed PulseAudio (/usr/bin/pulseaudio

Alsa or OSS. I've tested so far Team Fortress 2 and Everyday Shooter on

However, with no PulseAudio only one application can play sound at any

[Bug 255889] Re: jockey-gtk crashed with DBusException in call_blocking()

2008-09-07 Thread Arek Korbik
The indicated error in the jockey- seems to be caused by
jockey-backend script not finishing it's initialization stage, thus
doesn't respond to frontend requests.

The jockey-backend script appears to be hanging in
jockey.detection._get_printers(), while waiting on
cups.Connection().getDevices(). In fact, the cupsd process goes to 100%
CPU usage ocasionally and needs restart, so the real problem is probably
in the cups/cups-client and jockey fails as a side-effect.

Forcing _get_printers() to return an empty set immediately after
docstring works for me as a workaround for this issue.

[Bug 269899] Re: let the user choose the screenshot's filetype

2009-07-20 Thread Arek Piekarz
My bug at "100 paper cuts" was triaged as invalid, so I'll post here.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/401701

When I launch Gnome-screenshot, either by the menu or by hitting
PrintScreen key, I can save the output file only in PNG format. There
should be an option for saving such files as JPEG.

In fact, I believe JPEG should be the default format for saving
screenshots in that program, as they take less space on the disk, are
easier to upload to a site and download from one. For instance, now I
have to make a screenshot, navigate to the folder where it has been
saved, open the file in Eye of Gnome and save it there as JPEG before
sending it to a friend.

Even if JPEG won't be the default file format in gnome-screenshot, I
would be delighted if it could save pictures in JPEG.

In Nautilus with icon view, when you open a folder with lots of files,
i.e. photos, and scroll down while thumbnails for photos are being
created, the view will constantly scroll up, because thumbnails take
more space than ordinary system icons (especially thumbnails for
vertical pictures) and push icons below downwards.

This behavior makes it impossible to navigate through the folder before
all thumbnails have been created, which can be extremely annoying with
hundreds of pictures in one place. Things like selecting a couple of
files or finding the right one to click on it become very hard to do.

BTW I initially filed this bug at "100 papercuts" project, but it was
too hard to fix for them.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/401685

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 9.04
package version: nautilus 2.26.2-0ubuntu2
What I expected: files to be shown at the same place, at the same level of
height
What happened: files moved up or down during thumbnails creation

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 155572] Re: network-manager gutsy no network devices

2007-12-04 Thread Arek Korbik
The code doesn't expect the new_nl_handle() to fail and tries to do
wrong things with a null pointer. SIGSEGV occurs, code handles _that_
and retries the operation. Infinite loop ensues.

It seems the code is different on trunk, but the attached patch against
the 0.6.5-0ubuntu16.7.10.0 package's source fixes the issue for me
(PowerBook G4 15" 1.67GHz).

[Bug 485020] [NEW] File-Roller doesn't warn before replacing files

2009-11-18 Thread Arek Olek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

If you unpack the archive using the menu item folder choosing dialogue box
appears, and there is an option called "replace existing files".

But when using drag & drop the files get overwritten without any
previous warning, and no matter if you had chosen previously to replace
existing in the dialogue mentioned above. I'm not sure if there is any
other option to control this. And don't know if this is expected
behaviour. Thus filing this bug.

What should happen: a dialogue asking what to do should appear

What happens: files get overwritten without a warning

Steps to reproduce:
1. Grab an archive (it was tar.gz in my case) and open it with file-roller
2. Unpack its content to some folder using drag&drop.
3. Do it one more time and watch files being overwritten.

I'm not sure if this is Nautilus or File-Roller bug. But Nautilus asks
before replacing files ;)

[Bug 416056] Re: Cannot open /dev/rfcomm0: No such device

2009-11-09 Thread Arek Olek
Got the same after jaunty->karmic upgrade. In my case adding "rfcomm
bind all" to /etc/rc.local was sufficient to solve this one.

I believe I've already done (4.) in the past.
All the configuration lines in rfcomm.conf are ended with semicolon in my case.
And the channel didn't change for me - it's still 4.

My mobile is Nokia N95-2 by the way.

In conclusion, this bug should probably be renamed to "rfcomm.conf
configuration is ignored at start-up" or something similar.

[Bug 773987] Re: Timezone is not set correctly for some locations

2012-04-18 Thread Arek Olek
Any way we can help? Because devs not being able to reproduce it does
not imply anything. At least 18 people can, so I'm sure there's a way to
handle this.

#43 That's a workaround, disabling network results in correct hour. But
number of cities is very limited without a network.

[Bug 1243289] Re: HDMI color issues are back

2014-04-05 Thread Arek Olek
I have just tried running the 3.14.0-031400 kernel, but it wouldn't boot
(kernel panic).

I will try running Ubuntu 14.04 daily build and report what happens.

[Bug 1243289] Re: HDMI color issues are back

2014-04-05 Thread Arek Olek
When I run the live USB version of Ubuntu 14.04 it starts out with good
colors, but with desktop on both the laptop screen and the external
monitor connected with HDMI.

After I go to system settings and change it to use only the external
monitor - the colors go crazy (greeny-pinkish all over).

Then, changing back to both screens doesn't help. It just displays wrong
colors on the external screen no matter what setttings I use afterwards.

The logs above are collected before I fiddled with the display settings.

Logs collected after the colors have gone crazy will follow.

[Bug 1243289] Re: HDMI color issues are back

2014-09-22 Thread Arek Olek
I have checked again with latest Live USB image of 14.04.

uname -r says it is 3.13.0-32-generic

The bug is still there, symptoms exactly the same as per comment #22

Because of this issue, I have been stuck with Ubuntu 12.04 ever since.

[Bug 751735] Re: [intel 82G35] HDMI color issues

2013-02-21 Thread Arek Olek
Yesterday my Ubuntu 12.10 upgraded linux kernel from 3.2.0.37.45 to
3.2.0.38.46 and the problem came back after maybe a year of absence.

For anyone that would like to downgrade, just like I had to:

# remove bad kernel version so it won't be started with grub
sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-3.2.0-38 linux-headers-3.2.0-38-generic
linux-image-3.2.0-38-generic
# downgrade linux version
sudo apt-get install linux-generic=3.2.0.37.45
linux-headers-generic=3.2.0.37.45 linux-image-generic=3.2.0.37.45
# lock version so it won't upgrade
echo "linux-generic hold\nlinux-headers-generic hold\nlinux-image-generic hold"
| sudo dpkg --set-selections

[Bug 893514] Re: "Launch Terminal" and some other keyboard shortcuts not working

2011-11-22 Thread Arek Korbik
** Project changed: gnome-shell => ubuntu

** Description changed:

After I updated packages a couple days ago some of my keyboard shortcuts
stopped working. "Launch Terminal" and "Maximize window
horizontally/vertically", for example, don't work anymore, no matter
what key combination I assign to them. Most of the other shortcuts do
work (haven't tried them all, though).

I'm using gnome-shell in Oneiric, with (latest as of the moment)
packages from ricotz/testing PPA, but I don't know which piece of
- software more specifically could be the culprit. I anyone cares to guide
- me I'll provide more info.

[Bug 893514] Re: "Launch Terminal" and some other keyboard shortcuts not working

2011-11-23 Thread Arek Korbik
Apparently, I can define a custom "Launch Terminal" shortcut launching
gnome-terminal that does work (with the same key combination that's not
working for the original "Launch Terminal" shortcut). But I still can't
get around the not working window resizing shortcuts.

[Bug 751735] Re: [intel 82G35] HDMI color issues

2011-07-03 Thread Arek Olek
This is how colours look like when i plug in my Acer with HDMI cable:
http://i.imgur.com/Uq0sa.jpg
And this is how they should look like: http://i.imgur.com/ueafM.png

Additionaly one can see how the desktop has wrong size when viewed on
bigger display (but that's Unity's fault I guess)

Thanks Pedro, disabling the mtp plugin immediately makes the mouse work
correctly again.

And yes - it's a case of an old Mighty Mouse so it seems related to

[Bug 697235] [NEW] Firefox displays wrong title in the titlebar

2011-01-04 Thread Arek Olek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Debug information is supposed to be added automatically, so I'll just
describe the problem.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch randomly between tabs, open new ones, close them, navigate to other
pages (by links or bookmarks) etc.
2. Notice how sometimes regardless of displaying the new tab, the titlebar
still shows the title from previous tab.

Expected behaviour is obvious – it should always display the title of
the current page or application name in case of a blank tab.

[Bug 518809] Re: some landscapes are not drawn

2011-01-04 Thread Arek Olek
Yeah, it works with that workaround, yet it's just a workaround. And
since this bugs seems not to be fixed then why is the status "fixed
released"?

[Bug 697235] Re: Firefox displays wrong title in the titlebar

2011-01-14 Thread Arek Olek
Well, apparently this is not a bug in firefox, because I can see similar
behaviour in Nautilus and in Google Chrome. So this is probably Metacity
or Compiz bug?

Should I update this bug or file a new one perhaps?

[Bug 754723] Re: [Dell Studio XPS 1340] Fails to resume after suspend

2011-04-30 Thread Arek Olek
I think I might be affected by the same bug.

Last time my Dell XPS M1330 suspended, when I woke it up it resumed at
first, but after a few seconds it stopped responding and went back to
sleep mode despite being connected to AC power supply. I tried waking it
up a few times more. It took about 4 tries before it finally worked as
intented.
