The code doesn't expect the new_nl_handle() to fail and tries to do wrong things with a null pointer. SIGSEGV occurs, code handles _that_ and retries the operation. Infinite loop ensues.
It seems the code is different on trunk, but the attached patch against the 0.6.5-0ubuntu16.7.10.0 package's source fixes the issue for me (PowerBook G4 15" 1.67GHz). ** Attachment added: "Check the return value of new_nl_handle() before releasing the handle." http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10735170/check_null.diff -- network-manager gutsy no network devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155572 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
