[Bug 324684] [NEW] Unable to delete/reconfigure IPP printer after initial configuration

2009-02-02 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: system-config-printer

Package: system-config-printer 1.0.5 or CUPS 1.3.7

After setting up an IPP printer using system-config-printer, I now want to
reconfigure the printer to point to a different URI or change its name.
However, going to printer properties, the device URI change button is disabled
and I cannot type in the text box. I am a member of lpadmin and I ran
system-config-printer with sudo.

I also cannot delete the printer. This happens for all IPP printers I
have configured.

My computer is 192.168.0.4, the print server is 192.168.0.5. Configuring
CUPS through the web interface, http://localhost:631, I try to modify
the printer, and the browser redirects to the CUPS page of the printer
host (192.168.0.5) and I get a 403 forbidden. I also cannot delete the
printer through the CUPS web interface.

Thus, I am stuck with a misconfigured printer and no way to delete it.

[Bug 236324] Re: mozplugger doesn't swallow windows on x86_64

2009-03-03 Thread Andy Pascall
Attached is a screenshot of the problem I believe you are describing.

I am running intrepid x86_64 with mozplugger 1.12.0 pulled in from the
jaunty repos.

It does not appear to be fixed in 1.12.0 and the lack of window
decorations make this problem annoying.

[Bug 354279] [NEW] Will not connect to wired network

2009-04-02 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

This bug applies to both 8.10 and the 9.04 beta.

8.04 is the last release that worked.

The problem I am having is that my computer fails to receive an IP from
my router and subsequently doesn't connect to the network. It fails with
no obvious errors. The TX light blinks, but it seems the router doesn't
respond.

It is normally set up as DHCP, but I have also tried static IP with no
success.

The NIC is an old DEC 21140 using the tulip driver.

The router is a Netgear MR814v2 running firmware V5.3_05

[Bug 409409] [NEW] nautilus hangs on preview of SVG with embedded TIF

2009-08-05 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Release: Ubuntu 9.04 x86_64

Nautilus version: 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu2

Nautilus hangs when generating a preview for SVG files that contain
embedded TIFs with an absolute path.

To reproduce:
1. edit line 17 of the attached SVG to point to the absolute path of the
included TIF.
2. browse to the folder containing the SVG in nautilus with previews turned on.
3. Try to open another window like places->home.
4. Nautilus has hung.

Workaround:
Turn off file previews: Edit->Preferences->Preview->Show thumbnails->never

[Bug 145064] Re: evince cannot open files when embedded with mozplugger in Gutsy

2007-10-26 Thread Andy Pascall
On the advice of a post in
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=584917&page=2 , I deleted
~/.gnome2/evince.

This allowed me to open PDFs with evince in firefox. However, most PDFs
only open in about a quarter of the browser window while a few open in
the full window.

A reload of the document allows all (so far) PDFs to be opened in the
full window.

[Bug 145064] Re: evince cannot open files when embedded with mozplugger in Gutsy

An update on my previous report.

Deleting ~/.gnome2/evince is only a temporary fix to the bug. The bug
resurfaces after a few hours.

Deleting ~/.gnome2/evince again will then allow PDFs to open.

[Bug 577545] [NEW] "gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256" on log in

2010-05-08 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf

I get the error message: "There is a problem with the configuration
server. (/usr/lib/libconf-2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status
256)" every time I log into my computer. After I click "close" the
desktop loads as normal.

This has been happening on all three of my computers since I upgraded to
10.04 LTS (using boht amd64 and i386 versions).

This is not caused by the permissions issues mentioned in bug #269215 as
/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system is chmodded 755 and /tmp is chmodded 1777.

Running "/usr/lib/libconf-2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2" from a terminal
produces no output.

[Bug 485895] [NEW] Tomboy add-ins don't load until disable/enable is toggled in preferences

2009-11-20 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

Both the Tomboy-latex and Reminder(http://flukkost.nu/blog/tomboy-
reminder/) add-in fail to work after starting Tomboy.

In order to get them working, I must go to preferences->add-ins, click
disable and then enable.

The web synchronization add-in appears to work as expected from start
up.

I do not know if the other add-ins are affected, because these are the
only three I use regularly.

[Bug 577545] Re: "gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256" on log in

2010-05-10 Thread Andy Pascall
Comparing the .xsession-errors between computers that have the problem
and those that don't didn't yield anything. All seem to have a few
errors in common, but there is no error that only shows up in the
affected computers.

Does anyone know what exit status 256 of gconf-sanity-check-2 indicates?
or where I might be able to find this info?

[Bug 577545] Re: "gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256" on log in

2010-05-10 Thread Andy Pascall
Switching to tty2 and running "/usr/lib/libconf-2-4/gconf-sanity-
check-2" produced a bunch of errors. One of which was that
"/usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.default" could not be created.

Running: "sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.default" solved
the issue for me.

The strange thing is that the computers where this wasn't an issue don't
have "/usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.default" either.

I'll check out the guest session thing in a bit. As for the software, it turns
out I have 2 affected computers and one that is not.

I ran "dpkg --get-selections" on all three. Then, I found which
packages the 2 affected computers had in common and diff'ed that with
the not affected computer. Attached is the result.

I don't believe this bug is a duplicate of 988941. This was an upgrade
from 11.10 to 12.04 and the upgrade attempts to pull *all* packages from
the network regardless of whether the network option is selected or not.

[Bug 1033319] [NEW] Centrino 1030/iwlwifi disconnects ~30 s from N access points

2012-08-05 Thread Andy Pascall
Public bug reported:

Just got a new computer with a centrino N 1030 wireless card. Ubuntu
uses the iwlwifi driver with it.

When I am connected to an 802.11N access point, the wireless stops
working about every 30 seconds, for about 30 seconds. The connection
doesn't disconnect, it just stops working.

If I'm on a G access point, or force a G connection, everything is fine.

2012-08-06 Thread Andy Pascall
Tested :3.5.0-030500rc7-generic #201207142035 SMP Sun Jul 15 00:35:57
UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This kernel will only associate at a max 1Mbps. However, it does not
drop connection. I was not able to achieve N bitrates even though I have
router set to N connections only.

So I don't know if this bug is fixed upstream or not.
