[Bug 324834] [NEW] Mousekeys switched off when unplugging keyboard
Public bug reported: I have RSI,so I use mousekeys which allows me to "click the mouse" by pressing 5 in the numberpad on the keyboard. Mousekeys gets switched off if I unplug the keyboard (something I don't do very often) and more importantly when I switch over to another computer using a KVM switch. When I come back to Ubuntu 8.10 mousekeys is switched off. So I have to run gnome-keyboard-properties to switch it back on. Fedora10 has the same problem. I think the previous Ubuntu (8.4 ?) also had this problem. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Mousekeys switched off when unplugging keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 324834] Re: Mousekeys switched off when unplugging keyboard
Hi Sebastien, Yes it's reproducible. Just switch mousekeys on, unplug the keyboard and then plug it back in. Mouse keys may be flagged in gnome-keyboard- properties as 'on' but none the less it's not working. You have to switch it back 'on'. Now you'll probably say, that's not really a bug because no one is going to follow this sequence very often. But if you use a KVM switch to go from one system to another and back again, that is exactly what Linux thinks you're doing. I have the problem in 8.10. I'm pretty sure the problem was there in 8.04. It's also there in Fedora 10. So it's not ubuntu specific. -- Mousekeys switched off when unplugging keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Mousekeys is tab 4 on Keyboard Preferences (gnome-keyboard-properties in bash). The bug does sound similar to #289781 Regards Allister On Feb 21, 2009, at 9:21 PM, Sebastien Bacher wrote: > what do you call mousekeys exactly? that seems somewhat similar to bug > #289781 > > -- > Mousekeys switched off when unplugging keyboard > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324834 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in “gnome-control-center” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete > Status in Fedora: New > > Bug description: > I have RSI,so I use mousekeys which allows me to "click the mouse" > by pressing 5 in the numberpad on the keyboard. > > Mousekeys gets switched off if I unplug the keyboard (something I > don't do very often) and more importantly when I switch over to > another computer using a KVM switch.
