[Bug 1854798] Re: Synaptics s3203 touchpad not working after update to kernel 4.15.0-72-generic
@Dave Jones This issue is specific to 4.15: backporting a bugfix from a newer kernel to the 4.15 series went wrong because the commit depended on another one which was missing in 4.15. It's better to open a new bug if 5.3 has problems. They might be specific to your hardware. (Also, a live medium might not have the newest kernel from the 5.3 HWE series. [Bug 1301383] Re: Ubuntu installer doesn't format swap partition when selecting encrypted drive and home
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1310058 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310058 A solution has been proposed at bug #1310058 in comment #3. After patching the ecryptfs-setup-swap file as posted there, you first need to setup an unencrypted swap before you can encrypt it again. For reference, how to create an unencrypted swap: Please format the partition as linux-swap with GParted. Then, edit /etc/fstab and uncomment the line about the unencrypted swap; on that line, change the UUID into the current UUID of your unencrypted swap. Mount your swap using "sudo swapon -a". Now, I suppose, you have a working unencrypted swap. You can use swapon -s to verify that your swap is enabled. When you have an unencrypted swap enabled, you can again convert it into an encrypted one. You will first need to remove the lines about your old (not working) encrypted swap from /etc/crypttab and /etc/fstab. Then you can convert your unencrypted swap into an encrypted one, using sudo ecryptfs-setup-swap. That will now work fine, because you have patched the file to include "offset=8" in the /etc/crypttab file. Again, use swapon -s to verify that the swap is enabled; but now it should display /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 as device. Another workaround, which is probably easier to apply: replace the UUID in /etc/crypttab by a /dev/sdXY name of the partition. Unlike the offset=8 patch of syscon-hh, this does not require re-creating the encrypted swap. This is how it was done on Raring and earlier releases; only since Trusty, UUID's are used here. (For me this was not a solution: I have a hot-pluggable disk which becomes /dev/sda when it is inserted at boot time, causing my main disk to become /dev/sdb, so I need to use UUID's) I am marking this bug as a duplicate of #1310058. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1310058 ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301383 Title: Ubuntu installer doesn't format swap partition when selecting encrypted drive and home To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1301383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 882691] Re: Kubuntu can't turn on Wi-Fi on Acer Aspire One AOA101
rfkill list says your wifi is blocked by acer-wireless, that's why it's shown as disabled. Wicd probably ignores this as the wifi card itself (phy0) is not blocked. [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
The system-ca-certs problem has been fixed in Linux Mint 17. What may remain, though, is that the right authentication type such as TTLS or PEAP is not selected automatically. For me PEAP had to be chosen to connect to Eduroam; your institution should be able to tell which of these types you need (since for example Android also asks for this). [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
Linux Mint has implemented the upstream fix for system-ca-certs in their repository packages which can be found at http://packages.linuxmint.com/pool/upstream/n/network-manager-applet/ You can install these DEBs on Ubuntu 14.04 too (since Linux Mint 17 is based on Ubuntu 14.04), then remove the connection and add it again; system-ca-certs will not appear then if you click ignore when you're asked to choose a certificate. [Bug 1310058] Re: ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
Aravind, That line is already deleted if you add the connection with the latest updates to NetworkManager installed. If you're still having trouble, probably the wrong authentication type is set in the wifi security settings. Default is TTLS, but at least my university (Utrecht University, NL) needs PEAP here for its Eduroam network. The inner authentication is MSCHAPv2 but I think that was right by default. Settings may be different at your university but I think it's certainly worth giving it a try. When you are asked for the certificate, choose to ignore it (unless you know which one to specify). Future questions about this are better asked on a forum instead. [Bug 1310058] Re: ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot
About power management settings being ignored, please ask on the forum of Ubuntu (or the distro you are using) or open a new bug. It should be unrelated to this bug, you just never saw this problem because you were never able to hibernate at all. That hibernate fails, is yet another different problem. It is by design that the encrypted swap created by ecryptfs-setup-swap won't work with hibernate. I think it has been discussed at length in other bug reports or on forums already, with other encryption methods (such as encryption with a password instead of a random key) being suggested as solutions. Not encrypting your swap would of course allow you to hibernate as well. [Bug 1177086] Re: amd64: "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!"
I have just helped somebody in the Linux Mint chat with this problem. Mara's reply here suggested it could be a driver problem: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/programming-9/fixing-recursive-fault-but-reboot-is-needed-601372/ So I told the person to upgrade his NVIDIA driver to nvidia-313-updates (313.30) from the Raring repository (he was on 310 from the repository) and that fixed it for him. [Bug 798787] [NEW] libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental lacks 32-bit binaries for amd64
