[Bug 1254291] [NEW] Cant re-add rubbish bin to exclusions after removing

2013-11-23 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

open deja-dup for the first time.
Navigate to folders and highlight "Rubbish bin"
Realise you made a mistake and want to re-add the Rubbish Bin to the list of

Press the "+" icon then get lost in nautilus, unable to find "Rubbish bin".

I would expect it to be possible to re-add the rubbish bin to
exclusions.

[Bug 1255344] Re: alsamixer reboots phone

2013-11-27 Thread Alan Pope
Steps to reproduce:-

Buy track 3 at https://www.ronaldjenkees.com/mp3-store/ - "Sidetracked"
Copy mp3 to the device
Play the audio file in the music app
Get silence, but track plays
Try and debug via "adb shell; sudo -u phablet -i; alsamixer"
Poking around trying to unmute seems to trigger the phone to reboot.

I would expect it to only show the latest version.

[Bug 1264491] [NEW] There's no way to remove unwanted sites from history

2013-12-27 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

I visited a site I would rather wasn't listed in my activity view.
I can highlight it by longpressing in the "Currently viewing" section and
remove it, but I can't get rid of it from the "Today" historical view.
I would expect that I would be able to long press on the historical screenshots
and remove them.

See screenshot for example of a site I may not want to show up in my
history :)

[Bug 1264493] [NEW] Copy / Paste doesn't fully work across browser sessions / webapps

2013-12-27 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

It's not possible to copy/paste passwords between two silo'd webapps.

Open twitter webapp
Open separate web browser which goes to password remembering site (such as
lastpass)
Copy password by longpress
Switch to twitter webapp
Try to paste into password field, discover no "Paste" option, only "Copy".

I would expect to be able to copy/paste between browser windows

[Bug 1264678] [NEW] Incorrect indicator appears under correct indicator heading

2013-12-28 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

I was in the pub yesterday and wanted to get on the wifi there. I pulled
down on the wifi indicator and got the bluetooth indicator content. See
photo attached. Note that the icon and heading are right, but the
indicator content is wrong. I had to swipe it away, open lots of other
indicators and eventually the right one showed up when I pulled down the
network indicator.

[Bug 1264681] [NEW] Browser keeps popping up "connection is untrusted"

2013-12-28 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

I was in a pub on free wifi and visited a thread on G+ in the webbrowser.
For every image in the page it was giving me "This connection is untrusted"
"You are trying to securely reach lh3.googleusercontent.com, but the security
certificate of this website is not trusted".

I can press "Proceed anyway" or "Back to safety" but it gets frustrating
very quickly as there's lots of images on the page.

[Bug 1264739] [NEW] YouTube black box with audio, needs refreshing to play

2013-12-28 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Frequently and for some time I've had to refresh the page when loading a
youtube video.
What tends to happen is I get a black box, with audio, but no video.

It always does load eventually, but more often than not it requires many

[Bug 1324851] [NEW] Dismissed snap decisions sometimes remain on screen

2014-05-30 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

See screenshot.

I had an alarm go off, so I pressed the power button to wake the display
then tapped dismiss and then it faded out a bit, but stayed on screen.

I've had this happen a few times but can't reproduce it. Seems
intermittent.

[Bug 1041790] Re: [snb] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0b160001 IPEHR: 0x0b140001, workaround i915.semaphores=0

2013-09-08 Thread Alan Pope
** Description changed:

X locks up periodically for a 2 to ten seconds at a time and this crash
log gets generated. It's significantly more than several times a day but
  not quite continuous.

Temporarily disabiling semaphores seems to eliminate the problem. E.g.:

  $ sudo -s
  # echo 0 > /sys/modules/i915/parameters/semaphores

  [Workaround]
- 1. Edit your /etc/defaults/grub file.
+ 1. Edit your /etc/default/grub file.
  2. Change this line:

  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

  to

  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.semaphores=0"

  3. Then run

  sudo update-grub

  4. And reboot

If you indeed have this bug, that should stop the lockups from happening.
If it doesn't, then file a new bug report.

Side Effects: Rendering throughput is dropped by 10% with SNA, or as
much as 3x with UXA. OpenGL performance is likely to be reduced by about
30%. More CPU time is spent waiting for the GPU with rc6 disabled, so
  increased power consumption.

2013-09-10 Thread Alan Pope
I filed the duplicate of this bug 161 as I get this frequently on
both my i7 laptop and i7 desktop.

I think I found a way to reproduce it easily on demand. Open chromium,
and visit google maps. Sign up for "new maps". Visit somewhere on the
map and zoom all the way in then zoom in and out a bit. I have triggered
this bug a few times just by doing that. I'm not using dual screens or
anything funky. Just a basic Ubuntu 13.10 install with Unity.

[Bug 1215902] [NEW] Desktop locks up for 6-9 seconds periodically

[Bug 1312571] [NEW] Simple JS has differing results on AMD64/i386

2014-04-25 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Reporting on behalf of mrqtros who filed this upstream.

function safeAdd(x, y)
{ var lsw = (x & 0x) + (y & 0x); var msw = (x >> 16) + (y >> 16) + (lsw
>> 16); // console.log("res", "(msw << 16) | (lsw & 0x)") return ((msw <<
16) | (lsw & 0x)); }

This code reports different results depending on the architecture it's
run on.

Tested on amd64 and i386 on Ubuntu 14.04 - so 5.2.1.
On amd64 I get -2124464854 with and without console.log()
On i386 I get -2124464854 or 45890858 as per Roman's comment in qt bug
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-38451

However on i386 if I set QV4_NO_REGALLOC=1 then it's always -2124464854

Please can the upstream fix at https://codereview.qt-
project.org/#change,83936 be applied to our build?

[Bug 1313188] [NEW] chromium forgets opened tabs between sessions

2014-04-26 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

I have chromium remember my tabs between sessions.
Since chromium 24 it forgets some of them from one session to another.
I use multiple chromium profile/users and frequently leave multiple tabs open
in one (work) profile and close it over the weekend, leaving another (personal)
profile open. When Monday morning comes around I open the work profile and
discover tabs missing.

I just tested it and had more than 20 tabs open previously, closed and
re-opened and found 18, next I had 15 then 10 on each restart.

To reproduce
Open chromium and set settings to "On start-up" -> "Continue where you left off"
open a bunch of tabs, noting how many are open.
close chromium
Re-open chromium
Note fewer tabs open.

[Bug 1313465] [NEW] qmlscene crashes on music-app exit

2014-04-27 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Add the music app to the desktop from the daily ppa:-

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/+archive/daily

Install the music-app.

Run music-app by searching for "Music" from the dash.
Play some music, close the app with the close button in the qmlscene window.
This generates a crashdump for me.

[Bug 1308631] Re: Vertical bar in task switcher in mako on #299

2014-04-17 Thread Alan Pope
I can make it happen pretty easily.
Pin facebook, twitter and G+ to the launcher.
Reboot phone, wake up in the morning and want to check your social circle.
Pull out launcher, tap twitter
Don't bother waiting for it to start, pull out launcher, tap facebook
Again, don't wait, tap G+.
Swipe in from right, see bar.

[Bug 1309556] [NEW] camera crashed and took phone with it.

2014-04-18 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

I was out with a few apps open including G+, Facebook and twitter
webapps, Web browser and jupiter broadcasting app.

I opened the camera app and took a few pictures, locking the phone
between each.

For the 4th picture when I tapped the shutter button the phone vibration
started and stayed constant, no photo was taken and then after a few
seconds the phone rebooted.

I can't see anything useful in logs at that time.

[Bug 1311241] [NEW] Folders don't show up when mounted in Windows

2014-04-22 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Run ubuntu touch on a device (nexus 4 and nexus 7 2013 tested here)
Attach via USB to PC running Windows 7
Get the usual USB bing bong noise
Open windows explorer and see a device node for "Nexus 4" (or "Nexus 7 (2013)
wifi" as appropriate)
Navigate to the "Nexus 4" folder, and observe another node below it "Nexus 4",
click that.
Note no "Music" or other virtual folders there.
I would expect to see the same folders as I do when mtp connecting from an
Ubuntu computer.

[Bug 1300304] [NEW] Scope loses context when you go back from preview

2014-03-31 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

On mako #269
In applications scope, scroll down and expand up the section for "Available" or
"My Apps".

For "Available" spot a few apps to install. Pick one to get to the preview.
Click "Install".
For "My Apps" spot a few apps to de-install. Pick one (long press) to get the
preview. Click "Uninstall".

Once install/uninstall is done, press the back button at the top.

Note that in both cases you get returned to where you were in the scope
then the scope immediately flips up to the top.

[Bug 1300302] [NEW] Dead area at bottom when scrolling in scopes

2014-03-31 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

During the weekend (disconnected from a PC, but testing phone) I noticed that
during scrolling of the apps scope there was a region at the bottom of the
screen where no icons would appear.
Further when scrolling up slowly (pulling up with finger) on a long list the
icons appear one by one.

So if the screen normally has 15 icons on screen, where each icon is one
letter-

---
A B C
D E F
G H I
J K L
M N O
---

In this case I get:-

---
A B C
D E F
G H I
J K L

---

And when I pull up I get:-

---
D E F
G H I
J K L
M

---

Then pull a bit more I get:-

---
D E F
G H I
J K L
M N

---

Then pull a bit more I get:-

---
D E F
G H I
J K L
M N O

---

Then:-

---
G H I
J K L
M N O
P

---

And so on..

[Bug 1300326] [NEW] Shell randomly freezes with grey tint

2014-03-31 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Sometimes over the last few days I've noticed that the shell will appear to
freeze.
Notably it's possible to "recover" by simply swiping in the launcher from the
left.
It looks like the shell froze at the point when the current window "drops" and
fades. No amount of tapping will bring it back, you have to pull in the
launcher to make it wake.
Attached screenshot showing what it looks like when it happens.

[Bug 1300304] Re: Scope loses context when you go back from preview

2014-03-31 Thread Alan Pope
It may be technically expected, but from a user point of view it's
pretty horrid to be dumped back at the top, many swipes away from where
you started.

I opened notes app and can type a note in there with the OSK, but
switching back to Twitter & FB webapps, the OSK never comes up.

[Bug 1300302] Re: Dead area at bottom when scrolling in scopes

2014-04-02 Thread Alan Pope
No, I was just playing with the device over the weekend when this
happened. I'd been playing with swiping up and down in the shell a lot,
and a lot of swiping right and left. I also had a unity crash when
running x-type (which doesn't crash now) just before the problem in this
bug report.

[Bug 1318724] Re: indicator-message is not always showing new message notifications

2014-05-14 Thread Alan Pope
Yeah, this is happening on Mako #28 for me. I sometimes get no
notifications for test messages:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyI5wJGppUg

I then rebooted the phone and the first message received made a ping
noise and worked fine, but no pings on subsequent messages.:-

Public bug reported:

Just update mako to #37 (and also when I updated to #36) the wifi was
disabled on first boot. It works after flipping the wifi switch in the
network indicator, but by default it's off (it should be on IMO).
