[Bug 30207] Re: media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly
I just installed Kubuntu 6.10 RC (that has KDE 3.5.5 included) and the problem still exists. Seems as the problem is caused by 2 bugs / configuration mistakes. -System Settings -> Advanced -> Disk & Filesystems the floppy entry uses Device /dev/ . You can manually change it to /dev/fd0 (or whatever your floppy is) Then you can normally access your floppy but you have to manually mount it -Seems as automount is not enabled, and I can't manually enable it (option grayed out) -- media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/30207 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64142] installer - ready to install- screen incomplete
Public bug reported: Hello If you use the install script in kubuntu 6.10 or ubuntu 6.10 life cd and you have entered all the requested data you get to the -Ready to install- screen. This shows you the summary of the necessary info you provided to install kubuntu. (Language, Keyboard layout... till grub). Then there is a note: If you continue, the changes listed below will be written to the disks. [...] But unfortunately there are no changes listed below eventhough I told the script to format 2 partitions. In 6.06 the changes were listed correctly. greetings Alain ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- installer - ready to install- screen incomplete https://launchpad.net/bugs/64142 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 64397] kubuntu instasller hangs when no internet connection
Public bug reported: My computer is connected to a network with no direct internet connection. To get online i have to establish a vpn tunnel to a cisco concentrator. If I now start my PC normally with the life cd and try to install kubuntu the installer hangs at "scanning for mirrors". The workaround is to pull the lan plug before booting from the life cd. Like this the installer finds out that there is no internet avaliable and continues. Appearently the installer does not notice that i have no (direct) internet. [Bug 64967] bug in artsd -can't correctly detect my hardware in 6.10
Public bug reported: artsd cant correctly detect my hardware in 6.10. As long as 'select the audio device' in sound system settings is set to autodetect, my system freezes for a few seconds, then I get an error message: cpu overload, aborting. No audio works. This reappears every few minutes. If I manually select 'open sound system' everything is fine, even audio works. If I type in the console artsd, I also get this cpu overload error. The problem does not exist in Kubuntu 6.06, nor in Ubuntu 6.10 beta The audio should normally be an AC97 chip. (not really shure... windows reports this...) [Bug 30207] Re: media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly
BrianFitzgerald's instructions does not work anymore like he wrote them. You can't select the floppy from the list, you have to type /dev/fd0 (or whatever your floppy is) If I select Floppy0 from the dropdown it tries to mount /dev/ (what of course fails) Appearently /media/floppy0 mounts the wrong device. Modified instructions for edgy: Right click on an empty area of the desktop. Move the mouse pointer over the 'Create New' line to expand the menu. Move the mouse pointer over the 'Link to Device' line to expand the menu more. Left click on the 'Floppy Device' line on the device list. This should bring up a window for setting the properties of the link. Open the 'Device' tab and type in /dev/fd0 (or whatever your floppy is) Finally, click on the 'OK' button to create a link icon on the desktop. Clicking on this desktop icon will open Konqueror, mount the floppy (if unmounted) and it will display the files on your floppy. -- media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/30207 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 30207] Re: media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly
Of course this problem needs to be fixed. In my opinion, this is even a high priority bug. Such elementary tasks as reading a floppy disk shall not pose a problem. The problem is perhaps because kubuntu "thinks" the floppy drive is on /dev/ -- media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly https://launchpad.net/bugs/30207 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
