2007-08-24 Thread Akshay
Have attached 3 log files, according to this message found in another bug
report page (that bug is not the same as mine!) :---
"Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by
the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg > dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file
'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the
resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.

that this bug hasn't been assigned to anybody A Year after it has been

Kubuntu etc. users should be facing the same problem.

[Bug 289584] Re: networking disabled after resume from sleep

2011-03-03 Thread Akshay
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach
updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1976473] [NEW] Unable to change screen brightness in ubuntu desktop

2022-06-01 Thread Akshay
Public bug reported:

I have Dell G15 5515 Ryzen edition. It has Nvidia 3050 graphics.

When I change the screen brightness via slider then it changes the
brightness value of nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight but it doesn't work. When I

Re: [Bug 224867] Re: new files opened in evince does not bring its window to top

2008-09-24 Thread Akshay Dua
I have to get this out, I am sorry. Intrepid is in *alpha*, I don't
have non-production machines, this is an absurd request to a person
who took the time to find the bug. Its like asking them to your job
for you.

This is the trend I see in Ubuntu bug reporting. User files bug, no
one looks at it for months, then they mark it as lacking information
(when it does not, I even have the steps to reproduce it and have
filed the bug against hardy *not* intrepid), they expect users to do
some kind of massive test report for them and because they don't they
finally mark the bug closed. Hurray, problem solved.

This is the second of my bugs where I have been asked to devote some
unusual amount of time to provide more information. I feel it to be
completely unnecessary since some time spent by the developer on the
problem can solve it. This is just a way of moving responsibility
around.

I ain't filing any more bugs.

Good luck with everything,
Akshay

Is anybody ever going to look at the bug? I think Ubuntu is slowly loosing
its edge and moving towards a bloated buggy system, where most user visible
bugs are low priority. Can't believe I am on an LTS.

[Bug 35997] Re: Gnome's Places menu starts Konqueror instead of Nautilus

Appending "OnlyShowIn=KDE;" to kfmclient_dir.desktop dolphin.desktop and

[Bug 309404] [NEW] Intrepid - shutdown or restart simply logs out

Public bug reported:

Clicking shutdown or restart either from the desktop or gdm simply logs
the user out. The effect is that the gdm login window is shown again.
The only way for me to properly shutdown my machine is to logout and
then hit the power button. There is currently no way for me to restart

Changing the values for gnome power manager didn't really solve the

gnome-power-manager and the problem with the screen brightness still
exists. I suppose this is a problem with acpi , rather than with gnome-

[Bug 156797] Windows too sticky with "Extra" visual effects

Public bug reported:

After turning on "Extra" visual effects, application windows tend to
"snap and stick" on to gnome panels too much. It is then hard to

[Bug 114822] Gnome Volume Manager mistakes Hard Disk Partitions for Removable media

2007-05-15 Thread Akshay Srinivasan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

I just Installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu Feisty and found all my
partitions already mounted.As I don't use 3 out of 5 partitons , I
edited the /etc/fstab and added the "noauto" option to the respective
hard disk partitions and left the other 2 to be mounted at bootup. After
a restart I was surprised to find the three partitons mounted !After
some time ,I found that Gnome Volume Manager , apparently mistakes these
partitions as removable media. The problem I think lies in how gvm (gnome
volume manager) interprets fstab.Removing the "noauto"helped , and
then gvm stopped showing them as removable media in the Nautilus
Sidebar.I think Gvm automatically labels disks in fstab with "noauto" as
removable media. There was no such problem with the last three versions
of Ubuntu.

Bad news! Can't reproduce when -dbg package of gnome-panel is installed.

This seems to happen only at startup. After the gnome-panel has crashed

sudo killall gnome-panel

After the restart, I can no long reproduce the problem.

System information:

I upgraded from gutsy to hardy beta earlier. I have a lenovo x61 laptop.

[Bug 224866] [NEW] Evince incorrectly renders powerdot presentations

2008-04-30 Thread Akshay Dua
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

'powerdot' is a presentation package for latex which helps create
postscript presentations. The attached presentation looks perfect using
'gv' but evince does not display this correctly. This problem did not
happen in hardy. Even the thumbnail generated in nautilius is correct,
so the problem only seems to show up in the evince application.

rant:
Why do you guys have to change things so drastically across one release cycle,
isn't it better not to touch things that are working? Things were fine with
evince in Gutsy but its so broken now Hardy.

Anyway just my two cents, please find the offending 'ps' presentation
attached.
