[Bug 348825] [NEW] Entire application hangs, incl. firefox while installing flash player and it cannot be installed.

2009-03-25 Thread Api
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Hi All,

While using Firefox in Ubuntu, I am facing this bug time n again. I need
to install flash player (to view various webpages like youtube, etc.)
and a link called "click to download additional plug-ins" is coming.
Whenever I'm clicking on the link and trying to install the flash player
nothing is happening and firefox is not responding. So I have to opt for
a "force quit".

I tried installing the same through add/remove option after downloading
Linux-version of flash player. Then also the same thing prevails. I have
to opt for "force-quit".

Hence, in either case I'm unable to install flash player which I need
very urgently.

Pl. look into it and suggest a fruitful way out.

Regards,
Api.

[Bug 1936896] [NEW] gnome-disk-utility doesn't put HDD into standby mode after timeout since ubuntu 21.04

2021-07-19 Thread API
Public bug reported:

Have HDD WDC WD181KRYZ-01AGBB0.
I set up "Enter Standby After 5 seconds". But drive doesn't go into standby
after 5 seconds. Same with disabled APM setting and with APM Level 1 and 127.
If I manually click "Standby Now", then HDD goes into standby and remains in
this state more then 10 hours. It means HDD is unused.
I used this HDD with ubuntu 20.04 before and standby timeout worked there.

Hi Chris,
No, it didn't.
And it worked perfectly with X.org and nvidia as well.

Re: [Bug 1174893] Re: 10de:0427 Display remains blank when waking up from suspend

2013-08-08 Thread Api
Hi,
+ If you install the nvidia drivers in Raring it works?
it does work, it was flagged in a similar bug's comments as a solution
But it is very laggy and overheating, HD videos collapse, it worked fine
till 12.04

+ What previous release specifically did this work in, and were you using
nvidia drivers or nouveau?
till 12.04 it was ok with both
on 12.04 i used nvidia and on 12.10 i tried both but used xorg because
nvidia was less responsive and heating was serious
and 13.04 as described above

[Bug 1868042] [NEW] root filesystem is not mounted readonly as advertised

2020-03-18 Thread native-api
Public bug reported:

Subj. Reproduction steps:

- (Install Bionic from http://releases.ubuntu.com/18.04/ubuntu-18.04.4
-desktop-amd64.iso into Virtualbox Windows x64 6.0.10 r132072.
Recommended requirements for VM hardware, Minimal installation, default
parameters elsewhere)

- Enter recovery mode
=> The menu says: "filesystem state: read-only"
- Enter root shell
=> # mount
<...>
/dev/sda1 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)
<...>
- Ctrl-D
=> The menu still says: "filesystem state: read-only"

As a result, I cannot do anything that requires a readonly mount (in my
case, needed `zerofree` to shrink the virtual disk file).

A workaround is "echo u >/proc/sysrq-trigger" or Alt-SysRq-U.

** Affects: friendly-recovery (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1472755] Re: corrupted double-linked list probably cause by telegram scope

2016-02-16 Thread unity-api-1-bot
Thanks for the heads-up! log4cxx is not in main, and I've never used it.
The question is whether we should risk trying this out, or just run with
something really simple based on what Rodney knocked up some time ago.
I'm just trying to minimise risk here. There are zero function point in
this exercise for us :-(

[Bug 1474035] Re: Missing docs in ubuntu website

2016-02-16 Thread unity-api-1-bot
Sorry David, I was going by your comment #10 which mentioned that the
example would be updated.

image://albumart/album=Blur:+The+Best+Of&artist=Blur

Does this really work? (I can't try it out right now.)

If all the examples in the image work, then we can close this. Can you
confirm?
