[Bug 1411560] Re: Graphics performance degrades with time in 14.04
Hi Christopher, I've updated the BIOS as requested. As this problem was happening from time time (so not really predictable albeit reproducible) I'll wait a couple of weeks to see if it happens again. If not I will update the status here. [Bug 1367870] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 system with Radeon HD 6330M hangs regularly, especially when using Google Chrome
Hi Christopher - thanks for following this up. As the machine was a dual boot with Windows Vista (32 bit) I rebooted the machine into Windows to perform the BIOS upgrade. I ran the .exe file you pointed me at, then ran the 32-bit version of flash.bat from a DOS prompt. The old BIOS was erased and the new one appeared to be written ok. Then the machine was shut down by the program. However it won't boot up again! All I get when I switch the PC on is a low humming noise that lasts indefinitely. I see nothing at all on the screen - no BIOS info, nothing. I'm writing to you from a different machine now. So it strongly looks like the BIOS upgrade failed:(. I have to go to work now but I'm hoping you'll be able to advise me on how to recover the machine when I get back. Presumably there's some way of getting a BIOS onto a new PC before any OS is installed since the BIOS has to be there first? I'm happy to try with the new BIOS again, or, if that fails, somehow get hold of the original BIOS version again. But right now my smoothly working machine has been transformed into an almost dead lump of metal:(. [Bug 1072206] Re: [nvidia] Window content is black or transparent
We at NVIDIA have investigated the problem and found out that it is an application bug. Our interpretation of the specification is that creating two GLX pixmaps pointing at the same drawable is not allowed, because it can lead to poorly defined behavior if the properties of both GLX drawables don't match. Our driver prevents this, but Compiz appears to try to do this. Tracing the calls done by Compiz shows that in certain cases (subject to a potential race condition on the minimize animation, more reliably happening on unminimize), it will obtain an X pixmap through XCompositeNameWindowPixmap(), then call glXCreatePixmap() and use the created GLX pixmap normally, but never call glXDestroyPixmap() on it. Subsequently, it will call XCompositeNameWindowPixmap() again, while the window's pixmap hasn't changed. This isn't a bug by itself, but subsequently calling glXCreatePixmap() will fail because there already is a GLX pixmap pointing at the drawable (the one that wasn't deleted before). The fix would be to ensure that the pre-existing GLX pixmap is destroyed before attempting to create a new one. Here is a short trace showing the events I'm describing: xcompositenamewindowpix...@libxcomposite.so.1(0x18f0790, 0x120029a, 0, 0x18fca20) = 0x12002c4 glXCreatePixmap(0x18f0790, 0x14c, 0x12002c4); // glXCreatePixmap returns 0x12002c5 glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 127); glXBindTexImageEXT(0x18f0790, 0x12002c5, 8414, (nil)); [...] --->Draw calls are made. --->glXDestroyPixmap for 0x12002c5 is never called. [Bug 1406106] Re: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not see BT devices
Thank you for your advice, Jeremy. After some research (please look at http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg57515.html) I end up with the firmware correctly loaded from a file called BCM43142A0-0489-e062.hcd. But even this way, I need to reboot Linux several times in order to get the BT adapter fully working. Sometimes I get lucky and it works at the very first try, but it does not happen very often. Marcel Holtmann (kernel maintainer for the BT module) suggests in http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg57523.html that I can try increasing HCI_INIT_TIMEOUT in the kernel, but unfortunately I have no time to do more experiments by now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406106 Title: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not see BT devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1406106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 842194] Re: greeter doesn't start "failed to load session file"
The file /etc/lightdm/ligtdm.conf is being created while running postinst script from lightdm-{kde,gtk}-greeter package. The script needs the /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-set-defaults binary. This binary is owned by lightdm package so it is necessary to install lightdm package before or at the same time with lightdm-{kde,gtk}-greeter. If lightdm package was installed after one of the lightdm-greeter packages, you may run "dpkg-reconfigure lightdm-kde-greeter" or "dpkg-reconfigure lightdm-gtk- greeter" (depending on the greeter package you have installed) to generate the proper /etc/lightdm/ligtdm.conf file. [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
Hi, I managed to "workaround" this issue by following Mattia Belluco's workaround by the following Debian bug report message: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=725610#89 ``` More specifically to make a bluetooth headset work in A2DP mode I had to change settings in audio.conf: SCORouting=PCM and keep sure Socket stay disabled. Once you've done that you would still get a "Stream setup failed error" unless you manually load module-bluetooth-discover with: $ pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover If the module was not loaded you'll get a number as exit code and that being the case your next connection attempt should succeed. I hope that helps. ``` ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #725610 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=725610 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283003 Title: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/blueman/+bug/1283003/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1402726] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From thierry.fa...@fr.ibm.com 2015-02-27 10:04 EDT--- I have checked that on vivid the simple program works: #include main() { printf("test"); } $ gcc -gp -o tests tests.c $ ./tests test $ ls gmon.out gmon.out when on utopic I get: $ ./tests monstartup: out of memory test $ ls gmon.out ls: cannot access gmon.out: No such file or directory So problem is fixed under vivid, but the patch needs to added to utopic release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1402726 Title: monstartup: out of memory and no file gmon.out produced.
