[SM-USERS] configuration issues with uw-imap on cygwin (preauthorization mode)

2006-01-04 Thread Michael ~

basicly i'm getting this output from configtest.php:

...halts here at the bottom, i'm not sure what to do.

what i do know is cygwin uw-imap is working and listening on port 143... but
inorder to get the inetd service running i must override the winXP service
options to start under the user account i installed cygwin with (haven't
figured out that cygwin has a concept of a root user)

anyhow, logging in as a normal winXP user with administrative privileges
(not the installed Administrator user) ...apparently imap is starting in
some special "preauth" mode i really don't understand.

anyhow, this is about all the info i can provide. basicly i'm at a loss.

also this is the first time i've ever used a mailing list... seems pretty
primitive to me. but basicly i'm not sure what to expect or how to interact
with it much beyond sending this first letter and hoping i get replies to my
inbox. i hope i won't get letters from everyone using the list, but i used a
throw away email address in case things get crazy.

anyhow, my hangup seemed extraordinary enough to warrant such an effort.
please if you will, pity my nubileness and spare me some easy lip service.

sincerely,

michael

[SM-USERS] Error Displaying Themes

2003-01-08 Thread Michael
I have installed SquirrelMail 1.4.0 on 2 machines. One machine A the
install went fine. On machine B, themes are not displaying properly. I
have checked the permissions and they are correct. When I log into machine
B and go to options disply Prefrences, the pulldown list is just blank. Any
thoughts on why this might be and how to change it. Also in the
configuration if I choose themes and list the themes it displays all the
themes.

Thank you.

Re: [SM-USERS] SpamFilters not working in 1.4.0

2003-06-02 Thread Michael
Hello!

Yes, I've tried that, and the same spam did not get caught even though I tried
filtering it with a second pass. BTW, Simon Bryan did mention however that
"SpamAssassin" needed to be installed before the SpamFilter functionality
included with 1.4.0 would work, and I have just set this up (spamassassin is
now running as daemon on the system). Still doesn't seem to work however on
my test spam. :|

Re: [SM-USERS] Disabling IMAP

2003-06-04 Thread Michael
Well, afaik, you need some sort of IMAP server in order to run squirrelmail.

Now that doesn't prevent you from disabling mail access via the IMAP protocol,
of course - to do that just disable the port/daemon or both on your box...

Re: [SM-USERS] Squirrelmail Slow after installing MySQL

2003-06-25 Thread Michael
your MySQL - is it taking a lot of sequel queries per second?

does Squirrelmail speed up after you do a "service mysqld stop"?

What type of disk drive do you have?

It is possible that because of users hitting your database that disk I/O is
getting bogged down - also slowing imapd requests reading your mbox file, and
since SM relies on Imapd, thus makes it seem as if SM is slow.

[SM-USERS] /etc/squirrelmail/config_local.php missing bracket?

2003-07-08 Thread Michael
Quick ? - I've installed the redhat 7.x version of the squirrelmail 1.4.1 rpm.

I've noticed that it added a new file:

config_local.php.rpmnew:

 matching bracket
at the end? My squirrelmail 1.4.0.x install has it.

[SM-USERS] Bug report on attachment's filename

This error only occurs on filename that has numbers in it. Suppose I have

download the document, the filename comes out as "test v1[1].1.doc".

2003-11-10 Thread Michael
I am using php 4.3.3 with apache 2.0.47. However, I have
to admit that I cannot reproduce this error on a continous
basis therefore I assume that it is the browser's cache
issue. Other than that, I don't know enough about SM's
codes to comment.

[SM-USERS] problem with SM redirecting https session to http - temp fix

2005-03-10 Thread michael
I setup SquirrelMail a few days ago on a Debian Sarge box and immediately
had problems. When I tried to send, delete, check mail, etc. It would do
what it was suppose to, but would error out on the redirect because it was
sending me to an http page instead of https.

After googling and checking the archives, I ended up with these
possibilities: a bad apache config; php needs to be updated; or a bug in
SquirrelMail. For myself, I don't think it is my apache config (my setup
is very simple and I've been running apache servers for many years), my
php is up-to-date, so I followed a possible bug in SM.

>From my view point, there seems to be a bug in the function get_location
in functions/strings.php. I created a temp fix which has been working fine
that last few days. It works for me using SM 1.4.4 and should work on
1.5.1 since the function has not changed. I have no immediate plans to
debug the function because this fix will work fine for me.

Use at your own risk. I suggest pasting the following patch into a file
called strings.php.patch. Check to be sure none of the lines got wrapped,
there are 33 lines total. Place that file in the functions directory of
wherever you keep your SM, for my Debian Sarge its
/usr/share/squirrelmail/functions. Backup your strings.php file, then run:
patch -u strings.php strings.php.patch

I suggest restarting apache after patching, though it might not be needed.
Good luck.

Re: [SM-USERS] Wiki-pages spread outdated info about current status

Am 2019-08-13 16:12, schrieb Markus Robert Kessler:

Hi all,

reading about Squirrel Mail on wikipedia pages still provides you with
misleading information about the current status of development.
They claim, that 1.4.22 ist the latest stable version, everything above
is

"svn", hence experimental. No word about PHP7 compatibility.

So, people believe that development has stopped and Squirrel Mail were
dead.

This concerns the Enlish page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SquirrelMail

and the German one is outdated in the same way.
I already updated it:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/SquirrelMail

but all I edited is still "unreviewed" ("ungesichtete Aenderungen") and
the outdated info is still sold as the truth.

Is there a way to force them to accept updated infos or to accelerate
the

review procedure?

Best regards,

Markus

Hi,

regarding the German Wikipedia: Before I review the change: Is the
"1.4.23-svn" snapshot really usable as daily driver?

In my opinion, the sentence
"
Die aktuelle Programmversion 1.4.23-svn ist getestet bis PHP Version 7.3
und wurde Ende 2017 freigegeben. Sie ersetzt Version 1.4.22, welche nur
bis PHP-Version 5.3 lauffähig war.

"

is not right - as "1.4.23-svn" is no fixed version, but a living branch.

Best regards,
Michael Fritscher

"Das Kürzel SVN, für Apache Subversion zeigt an, dass mittlerweile
Fehlerbereinigungen und kleinere Erweiterungen nicht mehr unmittelbar
als

neue Versionsnummern veröffentlicht werden, sondern dass die jeweils
aktuelle Hauptversion direkt im Versions-Kontrollsystem weiter gepflegt
wird."

Meaning:

"The shortcut SVN, for Apache Subversion, points out that meanwhile
bugfixes and minor extentions not necessarily always lead to publishing
them as new versions. Instead, the current main version is being
maintained directly within the version control system."

I think, this describes precisely enough, why we have 1.4.23-svn as the
most recent stable version.

And, yes -- we all have it in daily usage.

In my opinion it is the best and most convenient IMAP surface.
So, it is import that people get this info.

Best regards,

Markus

Hello Markus,

ok, I reviewed your changes. In fact 1.4.23-svn is the "Rolling Release"
of the stable branch, right? I've added this wording to the wiki page, I
think most do understand this pattern. One questions remains: What about
the date of the version in the box? I think that replacing the date with
mentioning the "rolling release" scheme would describe it the best way.
Else someone would need to change the box at every commit...

Best regards,
Michael Fritscher

[SM-USERS] cannot delete (sub-)folders

2005-04-11 Thread Michael Borchers
I have problems with removing new folders I created when they have subfolders.
Though I first deleted the subfolder they still remain in the folder list
but cannot be clicked.

f.e.
main
- sub1
- sub2

After having removed every subfolder I tried to remove the main folder
but I get the follwing message:
DELETE failed: Can't delete mailbox main/sub1: no such mailbox

sure, the mailbox (folder) has been deleted on the server but
it's still there in the .mailboxlist file.

the .mailboxlist file has 644 rights and belongs to the same group as the
folders,
so why hasn't it been changed too?!

also:
when i rename a main folder including subfolders
squirrel doesn't rename the original folder
but creates a copy of the folder and it's subfolders
and renames that one.
the others remain unclickable in the mailboxlist!

[SM-USERS] Folder tree missing intermediary folders on uw-imap

2005-05-30 Thread Michael Wimmer

Hi,

I've the following weirdness with SM as opposed to Thunderbird:

I have a folder tree of about 30 subfolders in a hierarchy with several levels
on an uw-imap server. In Thunderbird, I have subscribed just the folders
containing messages, not the intermediary folders (those containing only
subfolders).

Now, in SM, I do not see these intermediary folders.

I can subscribe them as well in SM, which fixes the problem, however this will
throw Thunderbird off: Thunderbird thinks any subscribed folder is a
selectable mailbox, and when you click on it in Thunderbird, you will receive
an error.

Is it a known behavior of SM that it can't create the intermediary folder
structure, or is this some bug, or can it be changed via some setting?

More information about your setup would be useful, at the very least
  your SquirrelMail version.

The very latest (I hope): 1.4.4

Thunderbird needs to have their bug fixed if it's selecting
  \NoSelect folders ;)

I've not seen this personally myself, but I'm using courier-imap
which will return a folder that is not subscribed, but a parent of
  another folder as \NoSelect.

Please enable the info plugin (should be part of the standard
SquirrelMail installation), and go to Options, "IMAP server
information", disable TEST_0 and enable TEST_7 and change the code
  to:

LSUB "" "*"

And run the query, paste the results here.

I'm just pasting some lines which belong together here (the rest is private
stuff). I selected all lines which have the word "Community" in them, which is
one of the sub-sub folders:

* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community/Applications
* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community/Conferences
* LSUB () "/" "Mail/CG/Community/Game Community"
* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community/NVIDIA
* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community/Newsletters
* LSUB () "/" "Mail/CG/Community/Research contacts"
* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community/Reviewing

Obviously, uw-imapd does not report non-subscribed parent folders as
\NoSelect. I think for uw, they don't really exist since they are just folders
in a unix folder hierarchy.

If I subscribe the Mail/CG/Community-folder, I get the additional line:

* LSUB () "/" Mail/CG/Community

Does this make it any clearer?

I believe they do exist, they are just flagged as \NoSelect in the
LIST response.

I ran TEST_8 for the LIST response, and you are right they are reported as
\NoSelect.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get this resolved before 1.4.5 as I think
it might require some fairly chunky code changes, as the code runs
through the folders that /are/ there, and then tries to find the
children of the ones that are in the list... You need the reverse of
it.

Is this a bug in Thunderbird, in Squirrelmail, or is it something which isn't
sufficiently specified in the IMAP spec?

I wonder why nobody reported this before - am I the only one to use both
Squirrelmail and Thunderbird with uw-imap (which seems to be the only one to
have \NoSelect intermediary folders)?

Not sure what is not really working, but if you can't receive mail (is

y.y.y.y    RELAY

hope this helps

The list is for SM. SM works like a wet weekend, for tens of thousands

Re: [SM-USERS] change password

2005-07-11 Thread Michael Ogden

from inside the linux shell, are you able to telnet to 127.0.0.1?  If
not, try enabling telnet thru /etc/xinetd.d/telnet

By default telnet is turned off.  I am not familiar with this plugin,
but if it is trying to telnet to change the password, you might try
that.  (is it possible to do a ssh connection? enabling telnet is
really a bad idea)

I'm sure that someone else with more experience will be able to help
better, but that is my first thought

thanks

Re: [SM-USERS] change password

2005-07-11 Thread Michael Ogden

Yes, but port 110 is not the normal telnet port - it is the port for
pop3.  For example you could telnet to port 25 as well (smtp).  Try
telneting to the normal telnet port 23 (the normal telnet port)

To get data from 110, type
user [username]
pass [password]
list

You will then be acting like a pop3 client and be able to see the list
of mail waiting to be picked up.

[SM-USERS] Auto-repeat calendar listing

2005-07-20 Thread Michael Martinell
How do I set up a event that auto repeats in the calendar?

I have a meeting every Monday at 3:00 p.m. for the next 3 months. I would
like to put it in for the next three months, however I don't really want
to have to add it 12 times. Is there a better option?

I had tried that and had not gotten it to work. Then I noticed a bit on
the details about disabling small calendar and everything works great now.
Definately what I was looking for.

[SM-USERS] calendar reminder feature disabled

2005-07-20 Thread Michael Martinell
How do I enable the calendar reminder option? The option I am referring
to is the one provided by the shared calendars plugin. When I create or
edit a task I am unable to set a reminder. The control is disabled and
will not let me adjust it. I am guessing that I am missing a plug in,
however I have not idea which one.

It seems that you want your users to be automatically redirected to your
webmail. If that is correct, why not just redirect them with your
index.html page on mail.mydomain.com to mail.mydomain.com/webmail.

listing for index.html.en

If that is not what you were trying to acheive then feel free to ignore me.

It is probably either in /var/www or /usr/local/apache/htdocs. That
depends upon how you did your install. Since you have a /var/www/manuals
it is probably safe to assume that it should be in /var/www. Which file
you have also depends upon your install. It is possible to install
without any index.html files at all in /var/www. If you do not have any
index.html file at all in /var/www that is ok, simply create one. vi
index.html and type in the code that I included previously. Go to your
web browser and see what happens. If you are not comfortable with vi use
nano or some other editor, that part doesn't really matter.

Good luck.

Re: [SM-USERS] Folder tree missing intermediary folders on uw-imap

2005-08-09 Thread Michael Wimmer
I finally discovered a workaround how to this problem, and found out why this
may not happen to many people:

Usually, when set to "subscription only", Thunderbird also subscribes to
intermediary folders.

BUT, the important feature of intermediary folders is that they get a final
slash in their subscription entry!

So:

/Mail/Private/

would be an intermediary folder

/Mail/Private/Trixi

would be a message-only folder.

This is how Thunderbird distinguishes the two.

Now for some reason, I used Squirrelmail to do the folder subscription (I had
TBird on show all folders, which didn't work very well for various reasons), but
Squirrelmail does not add the trailing slash.

So, for me the problem is solved now, I know that I just need to create the
folders in TBird, and if something goes wrong, I just manually add the missing
slash.

I don't know whether the IMAP spec has something to say about this (probably
not), but for Squirrelmail it would be a convenience to also add the slash...

Obviously, uw-imapd does not report non-subscribed parent folders as
\NoSelect. I think for uw, they don't really exist since they are
just folders in a unix folder hierarchy.

You need the reverse of
it.

Is this a bug in Thunderbird, in Squirrelmail,

Actually both. Thunderbird shouldn't let you select a folder that is
marked as \NoSelect. That is a bug. SquirrelMail should be showing the
folders properly, but isn't... there is another bug.

or is it something which isn't sufficiently specified in the IMAP
spec?

The clients display of the folder tree is up to the client, and the
client author I guess... I don't believe the IMAP specifies how a
client should be displaying folders, just how folders should be
treated.

I wonder why nobody reported this before - am I the only one to use
both Squirrelmail and Thunderbird with uw-imap (which seems to be
the only one to have \NoSelect intermediary folders)?

Probably not, but you're probably one of a few that has the folders
unsubscribed because of Thunderbird's bug in folder handling.

[SM-USERS] Call to a member function on a non-object in mime.php

2005-08-09 Thread Michael Long

We are having problems with certain attachments in SquirrelMail. I have
not narrowed down all of the possible variations, but if I send a
mime-encoded email with HTML and an inline image (with Thunderbird), it
is always has a problem with it. If I view the same email in
Thunderbird, it looks fine.

But in SquirrelMail 1.4.5, if I click 'View as HTML', I get:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /web/https-mail/docs/functions/mime.php
on line 446

I do see my signature displayed, but not the image

In SquirrelMail 1.5.1, the first time I click, I do not see the 'View
as HTML' option (I guess thats from the plugin), but I also don't see
anything but my signature. There is no image listed at all. If I do
Prev, then Next, I see this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /web/https-test15/docs/functions/mime.php
on line 518

I believe the issue may be related to us using PMDF IMAP Server (under
OpenVMS). If I CC the email to a server with UWIMAPd and squirrelmail
1.5, it seems to work just fine.

I have attached some text files showing the output of both servers
(troublemail from PMDF, and goodmail from UWIMAP), as well as the
bodystructure information. In the actual bodystructure output from the
two text files, I see that UWIMAP returns 6 more NILs than the PMDF one
has. I don't know if this makes any difference though. The body seems
to be the same.

I am running apache 2.0.53 with mod_ssl 2.0.53, openssl 0.9.7e, and PHP
4.3.10
Plugins: sent_subfolders, message_details, translate, newmail,
delete_move_next, squirrelspell,

html_mail, vlogin, addgraphics, bounce,
 abook_take, compatibility, xheader, empty_trash, attachment_tnef,

The 1.5.1 version only has plugins: message_details, info,

[SM-USERS] Error after viewing attachments

2005-08-15 Thread Michael Hall

I recently upgraded PHP (to v4.4.0) and am now seeing the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in
/usr/local/www/squirrelmail/src/read_body.php on line 423

I see this after viewing any attachment and then go back to view the
message. After getting this error any other attempts to view that message
also results in the same error.

Apparently something changed in PHP and Squirrelmail needs to be updated
accordingly. Is this a known issue? What if any fixes are there?

Upgrading to a v1.4.6 CVS snapshot appears to have fixed the issue.

[SM-USERS] OS X SquirrelMail Not Showing All LDAP Users

2005-08-24 Thread Michael Swanson
Hello,
I have a Mac OS X 10.4.2 server with everything being stock that came with
the system. ( no squirrelmail, appache, etc upgrades).

I have my ldap address book working well in SM, all of our users were
imported, we used the Mac Workgroup Manager to import data using the info
tab, which works. When we list all, everyone "was" there. Now that we
have recently added more people, the newest users are not shown when we
"list all". If i search them directly I find them.

My thought is that maybe there is a return limit to that List All button,
but right now I am listing 117 users correctly, which doesn't seem like a
standard number for a limit. I checked the ldap settings (in raw form,
not through Mac's workgroup manager) and they are set up identically to
everyone else. It only seems to be the most recent people. If i change
someone that already shows up, the change takes place fine.

Like I said, if i do a search of the ldap for a specific person, i find
them with no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Mike Swanson

The description of the bug:

When you click to view an email it hangs until php hits max_execution_time
and stops the script

I can reproduce the bug by:

switching back to php 4.4.1 (under apache 2.0.55)

(Optional) I got bored and found the bug occurs in:

src/read_body.php, line 98:

for (reset($msort); ($key = key($msort)), (isset($key));  next($msort)) {

when i added a simple print I saw that the value of $key never changed
and it was stuck in the loop

(Optional) I got really bored and here's a fix:

[SM-USERS] Fatal error 30 seconds exceeded /read_body.php line 98

2006-02-28 Thread Michael Jones
My hosting provider put web mail access on port 2025 which is not
accessable from my work. I loaded squirrelmail v 1.4.6 in my
accessable public_html directory (port 80) this past weekend to test.
I'm on a linux server kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp with apache 1.3.34 and
php version 4.4.1

I have 5 emails in my inbox. I get the following error on some of the
emails when they I first try to read them:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in
/home/mejone1/public_html/ourmail/src/read_body.php on line 98

every email below that impossible to read email is now also
unreadable. the one's above it open fine until another random
unreadable email is recieved. I have found one work-around. Making a
folder (temp read) allows me to move one unreadable email into it,
read it without any time out issues in that folder, and then move it
back to my in box where it is once again unreadable.

I do not have access to anything beyond one directory above the
public_html directory (it's a shared host) Obviously the number of
text only emails isn;t a limiting factor.

any help in making this a more user friendly installation will be
greatly appreciated.

Mike

For those of us who are telenet/ssh challenged by our web host, the
following change to set allow_server_sort to be set to true in
config.php in the config directory fixed the problem.

Server Side Sorting Control

 * Your IMAP server must support the SORT extension for this

 * @global bool $allow_server_sort

$allow_server_sort = true;

RE: [SM-USERS] AddressBook Import-Export Plugin Error: default_pref file

2006-04-03 Thread Michael Daly

Thanks Tomas
$data_dir  = "../../squirrelmail-data/";

There is a default_pref file in /var/www/squirrelmail-data, it is 644, owner
again is holisticgp

I uploaded test.php to the /squirrelmail dir --> via
www.holistigp.com.au/squirrelmail/test.php ---> PHP Version 4.3.2 etc etc

I ran uname -v and uname - a - they were the commands I could find - and
that was all the info returned. Sorry. I could email the third party web
service provider, to get more info. Understand that is not really sufficient
info

Please advise what you can.

Tomas, could it be that /var/www/squirrelmail-data is owned by apache,
rather than by holisticgp???

Sincerely
Michael

do you have default_pref file in /var/www/squirrelmail-data directory?

ls -l /var/www/squirrelmail-data/default_pref

How do you run test.php script?

Have you used '/usr/bin/php test.php' command or accessed
'http://your-server/squirrelmail/test.php' URL?

Could you be more specific? Which Linux distribution is used? Please

and if you don't provide enough information

Set it to

$data_dir = SM_PATH . '../squirrelmail-data/';

If you set it to '../../squirrelmail-data/', plugins will look for data
directory in /var/www/squirrelmail/squirrelmail-data/ and not in
/var/www/squirrelmail-data/

If relative path is used in SquirrelMail, it must use SM_PATH constant and
it must be relative to SquirrelMail top directory.

RE: [SM-USERS] AddressBook Import-Export Plugin Error: default_pref file - CORRECTION

2006-04-03 Thread Michael Daly
Tomas
I misread the email and neglected to include SM_PATH . in:
$data_dir = SM_PATH . '../squirrelmail-data/';

It works fine now!!!

Many thanks

PS should I change $attachment_dir = "../../squirrelmail-attachments/"; to
$attachment_dir   = SM_PATH "../squirrelmail-attachments/";

[SM-USERS] shortcuts

2006-04-06 Thread Michael Borchers

is there a plugin for accessing options via
shotcuts, f.e. delete a mail = alt + d - this would save some
time;)

[SM-USERS] Multiple seesions

2006-06-16 Thread Michael Luich
hello everyone,
I'm having a problem with sessions. we need to be able to have two
different accounts open at the same time. Right now if you login as User1 in
windowA then as User2 in windowB when you return to windowA you see user2's
mail.

Details:
IMAP Server: dovecot
PHP 5.1.4
Apache 2
Fc5 (all rpm installs)
squirelmail 1.4.0
plugins:
delete_move_next
squirrelspell
newmail
chg_sasl_passwd
xheader

everything is default install. Any ideas?

Thanks,
I saw that this was a "who's going to pay for" item but at the same
time i saw references to fixing multiple sessions. got a bit confusing.

[SM-USERS] Error 115: Operation now in progress

2006-11-01 Thread Michael Cayton
I am new to squirrelmail and linux in general. I set up my webpage using
apache, imap using uw. When I try to login to squirrelmail I get this
error:

Error connecting to IMAP server: tls://localhost.
115 : Operation now in progress

I seached the documents and googled it but couldn't find anything.

Just wondering if the problem is with uw or squirrel or something else.

I pretty sure it does... can't be positive but it is included in the
preconfigure settings for squirrelmail. Would I be better off trying to
use another imap server? if so what seems to work for most peps?

[SM-USERS] CPU usage

2006-11-30 Thread Michael Borchers
we installed squirrelmail on our dedicated server.
my account uses about 20 filters on the INBOX
and also calls about 15 pop servers that are on the same server.

we recognized that this procedure causes a lot of
CPU usage.

is there a "smarter" way to call the pop accounts
or a way to decrease CPU usage?!

[SM-USERS] Message filtering

2006-12-05 Thread Michael Shook
I use a virtual host with 1and1.com, so this is potentially a 2 part
question:

1and1 has a serverside spam filter which moves messages marked as spam
to a SPAM folder.

Is there a way to use the message filtering plugin to check for specific
senders in this SPAM folder as well as INBOX?

Alterately, has anyone experience in setting up a serverside filter
solution with a 1and1 mail server?

Thanks!!!

[SM-USERS] Switching from File -> DB

We tested the database functions for addresses and userprefs.
They work fine.
But since we have lots of customers that have been using
the file-stored-functions we are looking for a way
to import addresses and userprefs into MySQL.

Any Scripts known?

[SM-USERS] VServer fetching from DServer

2007-01-30 Thread Michael Borchers
Our Squirrelmail on a virtual server uses mail_fetch to fetch mail from a
pop3 on a dedicated server.
when doing this the left frame freezes or even offer the php file for
download which means there seems to be an overload or endless loop.

we do NOT have this problem when calling the pop from another dedicated
server, only virtual.

any idea?

apache, php and squirrelversion are identical!

we found the problem that causes the error, but we do not know
wheter it is a problem between the servers or a squirrel bug.

both usersnames, the one logged in on the virtual server
and the one on the dedicated server being called are identical.
when we changed the last one it worked.

any ideas?

[SM-USERS] CPU 100% Usage - too large attachment?

2007-03-30 Thread Michael Borchers
PHP Version 4.4.1
Apache 2.0
$config_version = '1.4.4';

In my main mailbox/inbox I had 3 "small" emails and one big with a 12MB mp3.
When I tried clicking any of these 4 emails
Squirrelmail caused a 100% usage on the server and it crashed.

This happened though the quota was big enough and also the file handling of php
was!

My it be a corrupt header or can Squirrelmail have other problems with handling
large attachments this way?!

[SM-USERS] Exporting - changing folder location?

2007-11-30 Thread Michael Borchers
Hello,
I am leaving my current provider who offered me a dedicated server so far,
so I had full access to the email folders.

I am changing to a new provider where I do not have access.

Is there a possibility to take all the old emails and folders with me
or "simply" copying the folders to a different place in my new root
so squirrelmail can access it there?

Hoping...;)-

[SM-USERS] How to bind as login user in global LDAP address book?

Hi, all.

I just want to "hack" this file to bind as login user while use global
LDAP address book:

squirrelmail-1.4.13 /functions/abook_ldap_server.php

SquirrelMail use a binddn to search the whole LDAP tree, but i want to

My LDAP tree:

dc=com

  |- o=domains# <-- basedn: o=domains,dc=example,dc=com

  |- o=hello.com# <- virtual domain
  |- mail= [EMAIL PROTECTED] # <-- virutal user

  |- o=world.com# <- virtual domain
  |- [EMAIL PROTECTED] # <-- virutal user

If use global LDAP address book, it will bind to binddn for all users,
such as:

dn: cn=vmail, dc=example, dc=com

What i need is make it bind to the user who login in the webmail, such
as this user:

dn: [EMAIL PROTECTED], o=hello.com, o=domains, dc=example, dc=com

User use mail address as their login name.

How can i implement this function?

Thanks for your help.

Re: [SM-USERS] How to auto display directory in Maildir? such as '.Spam'.

2008-01-02 Thread Michael Bibby
Hi, all.

Thanks Paul.

I use maildrop to implement the feature while it create Maildir.

# maildirmake -f Spam $MAILDIR
# echo 'INBOX.Sent' > $MAILDIR/courierimapsubscribed
# echo 'INBOX.Trash' >> $MAILDIR/courierimapsubscribed
# echo 'INBOX.Drafts' >> $MAILDIR/courierimapsubscribed
# echo 'INBOX.Spam' >> $MAILDIR/courierimapsubscribed

When user login into the SM, these four dirs will be displayed.

Is this a problem of rights on the server or do I have to set the value

First, I use SquirrelMail 1.4.13.

In global ldap address book, all user must bind as only one user dn,

Every webmail user logins with their mail address, such as: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'.

But how can i let it bind as the login user itself? such as:

[EMAIL PROTECTED], o=hello.com, dc=example, dc=com

PS, bellow is my ACL in slapd.conf:

I have not actually installed image_buttons plugin, but I think you missed
step 3 in the Installation instruction. Have you patched your
page_header.php and strings.php files with the sm14x.diff file?

preview_pane also require some patching. As with weather, I don't know
what's wrong with that--sorry.

I know we don't use login names as email aliases, and I don't know of many
places that do. So I'm thinking that's either a very bad limitation of SM
on Win32, or a bug.

I should have been more explicit; I meant with Exchange, specifically. A
NT username doesn't have to be the same as the email alias for Exchange to
work. And since (as a default) the alias is the user email address, having
to change your mailserver configuration for SM to work seems not quite
right to me.

My NT username is MJL; my mailbox alias is mleone. No requirement for them
to be the same. Then again, I don't use SM on my Exchange server.

I use postfix, not sendmail (thank goodness! :-), but my SM uses PLAIN

clients.

Perhaps take a look at the guide I wrote at

It shows (amongst other things) how to get squirrelmail working with MySQL

Hi Erin

I originally designed/wrote the doc about 13 or 14 months ago
(what version of squirrelmail was out then?)

Definitely when I did the original testing of choosing the
"D to autoconfigure for courier", the results were not
satisfactory

I cant remember the exact problems I encountered, but
I do remember finding that squirrelmail would not operate
correctly if you chose to load the defaults.

However I was interested to hear your comments that the
defaults have been changed. I will have to go and do some
tests to see if things work OK now. If so I can update
my guide appropriately.

Do you know what options are set by choosing D?

Michael.

[SM-USERS] SM 1.2.11 / php 4.3.0 Login Error

2003-02-13 Thread Michael Sharp
I just upgraded to SM 1.2.11 today on FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE. I am running
mod/PHP v. 4.3.0. I am running mod_php with register_globals 0. When I
went to login, I was greeted with:

Warning: session_write_close() [function.session-write-close]: Your script
possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3.
Please be advised that the session extension does not consider global
variables as a source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can
disable this functionality and this warning by setting
session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in
/path/src/redirect.php on line 170

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at /path/src/redirect.php:170) in
/path/src/redirect.php on line 171

When I did a search of session.bug_compat_42 and session.bug_compat_warn in
/path/src/redirect.php there was nothing. Looking at line 170 of
redirect.php:
-
/* Write session data and send them off to the appropriate page. */
session_write_close();
header("Location: $redirect_url");
-

What needs to be changed?

michael

I ran some tests on Squirrelmail-1.2.11 and found that
choosing option D to set Courier defaults still doesn't
give good results

The standard squirrelmail folder options look like this

  Folder Defaults
  1. Default Folder Prefix :
  2. Show Folder Prefix Option : false
  3. Trash Folder : INBOX.Trash
  4. Sent Folder : INBOX.Sent
  5. Drafts Folder : INBOX.Drafts
  6. By default, move to trash : true
  7. By default, move to sent : true
  8. By default, save as draft : true
  9. List Special Folders First: true
  10. Show Special Folders Color: true
  11. Auto Expunge : true
  12. Default Sub. of INBOX : true
  13. Show 'Contain Sub.' Option: false
  14. Default Unseen Notify : 2
  15. Default Unseen Type : 1
  16. Auto Create Special Folders : true
  17. Don't move folders into Trash : false
  18. Enable /NoSelect folder fix : false

Pressing D alters the settings as follows :

  imap_server_type = courier
 default_folder_prefix = INBOX.
  trash_folder = Trash
   sent_folder = Sent
  draft_folder = Drafts
show_prefix_option = false
  default_sub_of_inbox = false
show_contain_subfolders_option = false
optional_delimiter = .

Now, if you press D, and then go into squirrelmail,
the Folder list in the left-margin appears as :

  INBOX (color red)
Drafts (color red)
Sent (color red)
Trash (color red)

So that is all good so far.

Now, go to folders
  Create Folder
  folder name : Test
  as a subfolder of
[None] <-- default
INBOX
Drafts
Sent
  Choose None

Folder list in left margin now appears as :

  INBOX (color red)
Drafts (color red)
Sent (color red)
Trash (color red)
test (black)

So I suppose this is ok, but the way that the
screen is drawn, it looks like test is a
subfolder of the INBOX

This time we will test to see what happens if
you actually choose to make a subfolder of inbox :

Go to folders
  Create Folder
  folder name : Test2
  as a subfolder of
[None] <- Default
INBOX
Drafts
Sent
Test

[SM-USERS] imap_mailbox.php warnings

2003-02-25 Thread Michael Sharp
I am running SM version 1.2.11 on FreeBSD 4.8-PR, mod_php= 4.3.1,
apache=1.3.27, imap-uw=2002_1. php.ini variables include register_globals=
Off, file_uploads = On, session.use_cookies = 1, session.bug_compat_42 =
0, session.bug_compat_warn = 0, and session.save_path=directory writable
by the webserver.

when clicking on Folders, Options, Help, Notes, Bookmarks, Calendar, and
Fetch I am getting several of the following lines at the top of the page
even though Folders, Options, etc... still load:

Warning: substr_count() [function.substr-count]: Empty substring.
in /path/to/squirrelmail/functions/imap_mailbox.php on line 269

Warning: substr_count() [function.substr-count]: Empty substring. in
/path/to/squirrelmail/functions/imap_mailbox.php on line 282

I also realize several of these are plugins and they are the latest
version plugins. Running 'diff' on the 1.2.11 imap_mailbox.php and my
previous version imap_mailbox.php shows no differences. Is this another
problem related to SM not being ready for the version PHP I am running?

[SM-USERS] Error when clicking a message subject (SM 1.2.11)

2003-02-27 Thread Michael Goodman

After clicking the link for a message in my Inbox,
the following is displayed:

Fatal error: Maximum
execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in
/www/j/jam2000/htdocs/webmail/functions/imap_general.php on line
77
This started occurring about a week ago but I do
not know why.  I have been using SM 1.2.11 for over a month with no
problems.  Any ideas?  More information needed?

[SM-USERS] Message hilighting not exactly working in 1.2.11

2003-03-03 Thread Michael Loftis
It seems that only the first 2 or 3 entries in the message highlight list
work in 1.2.11. The others are either ignored or I don't know what.

A couple of users have complained about this now, and I've noticed it
myself. I'm not sure if this is related to some other discussions about
the line length being set to 1024/2048 and getting truncated now because of
a switch to PHP serialization or not.

Anyone have any clues so I can get this fixed?

Anyone use the delete-move-next plugin on a setup similar to mine? I
really like this plugin but can't seem to get it working properly. The
"delete and next" links won't show up as links, they're just text. And the
move to folder feature errors on me too.
I've tried a couple version 3.x's of the plugin.
Did you try the version that comes builtin with 1.4.0?

It is working fine for me.

RE: [SM-USERS] MySQL User Preferences Is Duplicating Entries

2003-05-30 Thread Michael Shuler
Well, never mind I figured it out

After poking around db_prefs.php and echoing out the $query which ended up
being a REPLACE statement I notice my table structure wasn't going to allow
the REPLACE to work because my PRIMARY KEY was missing. All is working now.

Re: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through

2003-06-02 Thread Michael Brown
I have an issue with Yahoo Groups caused by at least one user on one list.
My sendmail detects them as coming from a relay host, so it bounces the
e-mail. Yahoo then disables my e-mail address since it has received a
hard bounce and I have to reactivate the account. Go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and look at the status and bounce history
for your e-mail address.

Again, this is not a squirrelmail issuem but may relate to your problem.

RE: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through

2003-06-02 Thread Michael Brown
I also doubt this is a squirrel mail issue.

I have a problem with one of my Yahoo groups causing my account to be
deactivated because sendmail detects messages from one or more users on
the list as being relay hosts. This causes a hard bounce and Yahoo
promptly deactivates my address. You can check if this is happening at
http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs (E-Mail preference tab from mygroups).
The status column will be normal if Yahoo says the account is active. The
Bounce history will include the error from the last bounce.

Hope this helps.

[SM-USERS] problem with outlook express 6 html email

2003-07-12 Thread Michael Richey
Before anybody asks me, here are my system specifics:

SM 1.4.1
many plugins - all active plugins are working properly

Apache 2.0.46
PHP 4.3.2

My problem is viewing messages with SM 1.4.1 sent from outlook express 6
exact version:
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1158

Messages sent from SM using fancy text with a single image attachment
come through fine. I am able to read the message, I am able to view the
attachment.

Messages sent from OE6 using text formatting with a single attachment
come through fine, I am able to read the message, I am able to view the
attachment.

When messages are sent using OE6 with HTML formatting, I receive the
following heading on the message display:

Body retrieval error. The reason for this is most probably that the
message is malformed.
Command:FETCH 1409 BODY[3]
Response:OKMessage:UID FETCH completed
FETCH line:* 51 FETCH (BODY[3] NIL UID 1409)

If I check my apache error log, I find this:

[client me.me.me.me] PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 0 in
/var/www/htdocs/webmail/class/mime/Message.class.php on line 678,
referer:
https://webmail.mydomain.net/src/printer_friendly_main.php?passed_ent_id=0&mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=803

[client me.me.me.me] PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 0 in
/var/www/htdocs/webmail/class/mime/Message.class.php on line 679,
referer:
https://webmail.mydomain.net/src/printer_friendly_main.php?passed_ent_id=0&mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=803

When I view message details, I find that the message is properly separated into its
multipart components,
each component is properly labeled with the appropriate mime type, and each boundary
is observed. I can't
see anything malformed in the message (not that I'm an expert or anything).

These errors do not occur with ANY other message. Only HTML formatted messages from
OE6. We have several thousand users,
so telling them that they can only accept text formatted emails is out of the
question. There has to be a way.

Re: [SM-USERS] squirrelspell for enhanced compose (incorrect paths?)

2003-07-18 Thread Michael Mansour
I've installed SM 1.4.1 without touching the
squirrelspell, and it simply doesn't work when I
compose a message and click the "check spelling"
button.

The "Squirrelspell initiating" screen pops up with:

please wait communicating with server

then produces the following error:

Char: 3
Error: 'opener.document.forms.0.subject.value' is null
or not an object
Code: 0
URL:
http://www.somedomain.com/webmail/plugins/squirrelspell/sqspell_interface.php

Any ideas?

Michael.
