[SM-USERS] Can't access attachments

2002-12-16 Thread Martin
Problem:
Can't view/download attachments.

Setup:
FreeBSD 4.6.1
Apache 1.3.26
PHP 4.2.3
Squirrelmail 1.2.9 (FreeBSD port)

Folder index has the "+" indicating attachments but the attachment section
is empty. Happened with both a jpeg and a MSword document. Checked IMAP by
logging in with another client, worked no problem.

The attachment section is completely empty, no download link, nothing.

Any ideas??

cheers

The attachments section is there but there is nothing in it. It seems SM
knows there is an attachment but is not displaying it nor a way to download
it.

If any one wants a login to see the results for themselves just ask.

unfortunately i have only tried in the last couple of days when it has been
broken. if someone else has a good version and could put it somewhere to
download that would be fantastic. otherwise i guess i just wait for the SF

it was the permissions.

i was confused by the upgrades of the 1.2 tree because my config.php kept
working despite not regenerating it, hence i forgot to regenerate it for the
1.4 tree...

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=648581&group_id=311&atid=100311

all snapshots of the 1.2 tree resulted in attachments showing up in the
inbox view but when the message view was loaded the attachment box was
empty.

this issue has disappeared with the 1.4 tree which i have running now.

never mind. i found the section of code and used one of the variables
(calendardata) as a search term on google which turned up the patch.

[SM-USERS] Calendar Details Lost Upon New Entry Added

2004-02-08 Thread Martin
hi guys

i remember seeing people having a similar problem but i couldn't find any of
the posts in the archive. a google search was equally fruitless.

basically when my users add a new entry to their calendar all the old
entries are lost. it's like the code creates a new datafile rather then
adding to the old one.

i remember seeing a patch. any one that can help with it?

[SM-USERS] problem: messages with attached images

2004-12-02 Thread martin
Hi,

I have installed SquirrelMail 1.4.3a with unsafe images plugin and I can't
open attached images in message's body. Looking at images properties its
address points to http://mysite/images/r.png and apache's logs show:

[Thu Dec 02 08:34:04 2004] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] File does not
exist: /usr/local/squirrelmail/images/r.png, referer:
http://mysite/src/read_body.php?
mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=269&startMessage=1

I can open the attached image "r.png" if I select its link in attached
files section.

Can someone help me?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin Augusto

[SM-USERS] PHP 7 support

2019-07-12 Thread martin
Hello! From the section 1.1 Server Requirements [1] in the
documentation, it appears Squirrelmail does not support PHP 7, and when
I try to run Squirrelmail on PHP 7, I can barely sign in before various
kinds of errors appear. What's the status on support for PHP 7?

[SM-USERS] Preferences are forgotten

2005-05-19 Thread Martin Ocando
On my qmailrocks installation with squirrelmail, I decided to upgrade from
the default 1.4.0 to 1.4.4 to set up mysql database address books and prefs.

While everything works ok, it seems to "forget" the preferences once I
submit the "Personal Information" options changes page. No matter which
options I change, it retains the prefs, but once I modify something on the
Personal Information page and submit it, it turns back to the default
language, stylesheet, theme, etc...

Loggin out and back in solves the issue, but is pretty annoying.
I've tested with Firefox and IE, all the same. What can I do?
Thanks

My experience is that it works just fine -- you must disable the
showing of errors, or else it will spew them on several of your
screens, but we never experienced any actual trouble due to those
errors.

They all seem to be in the category of using invalid (uninitialized?)
objects.

You should test, but ours runs with php5 just fine, but we have
limited exerience (time and number of
users.)

[SM-USERS] Hiding the IP address of client machines in outgoing email

2005-07-05 Thread Martin Schultz
Hi

I am running squirrelmail with postfix on debian sarge. As far as I
can see squirrelmail appends the IP address of the client machine
(The one sending the email thoung the webinterface).

Is it possible to prevent this or do I have to modify the source? If I
have to modify the source can anyone point me to the function that
appends the IP adress?

I am the only user of the system so I feel pretty safe. It would be
nice if ssquirrelmail at least scrampled the information.

But from the info in the bug report I think I can modify the source
not to include it.

Thanks

I access SquirrelMail most of the times through a SSL connection. I have
a valid official Thawte Certificate. But for testing I also use a
non-ssl connection, problems described below appear with both
connections. I test from multiple locations, with and without proxy's.

Normally I use Firefox (1.0.7) on Windows2000 platform, but I have also
tested IE 6 and even Pocket IE on a WinMobile PDA. Next to Win XP
systems. All clients have shown same behavior for me.

It has been brought up on this list regularly and I see the same issues:
you have to click twice on a link to perform the action, the screen
freezes, the inbox does not show after login (but can be made visible by
clicking on the INBOX in the left menu), timeouts, etc, etc.

The general answer given on his list refers to a php bug in php 441, but
looking at my system and my testing, I believe there should be another
issue as well.

Any of the developers who want to test this thoroughly, please drop me
an email and I'll be happy to provide you with a test account on a
system of mine.

[SM-USERS] address book extension

2006-01-30 Thread Martin Waschbüsch
Hi all,

I noticed several questions on the mailing lists regarding this issue.
Can anyone summarize what the current situation is?
I would really love to be able to offer a better addressbook to users
containing more fields, search and sort options, in- and export, etc.

Any hints on plugins that do this is appreciated.

Current version I use is the 1.4.6 RC1 snapshot.

Thanks,

Martin W.

I think what you need is the Archive Mail plugin.
You can read about it here:

http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=121

It allows you to download a selection of mails as a zip archive. All you
would have to do is.

1.) Install plugin
2.) select and download the messages you want to archive with the help of
the plugin
3.) delete the mails.

done.

Cheers,

Martin

PS: I forgot to mention that the archive mail plugin will enable you to
download the mails as .eml, which Outlook can open and use without
problem!

[SM-USERS] IMAP injection fix in 1.4.6 CVS

2006-02-01 Thread Martin Hepworth
Hi all

Any idea when 1.4.6 will be out?

I was running 1.4.4 (FreeBSD ports version) till yesterday and I upgraded to
1.4.5 as it looks like someone was using Squirrel to send out a load of
phishing emails. I guess (and right now it's only a guess, as all I can see
around this time in the logs is SQM activity) they were using the IMAP
injection problem fixed in 1.4.6 CVS.

Anyway I upgraded to 1.4.5 and no bad things (tm) happened last night.

If anyone's got anymore insight into this I'd be grateful too.

[SM-USERS] Column-limit not working?

2006-02-05 Thread Martin Waschbüsch
Hi,

I just noticed something about setting how long the sender and subject
fields can be:

No matter what I set them to, if I go back to the settings page, they will
always be shown as 55 (the default).

If I try to set them back to 55, it won't work. Once shorter than that, it
stays that way...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Martin

[SM-USERS] Imap - FTGate Server ... I don't get it to work

2006-02-14 Thread Martin Hochreiter

Hi!

I am new with squirrel mail (1.4.5) - I am using an FTGate 4 Mail server and
don't get the folders right.

The main problem is, that if you click on an subfolder, you can't get
back to

the inbox (you can't click on it).

Also Squirrel shows Drafts/Sent/Trash as defined in the config.php but
not working ...

to explain that my account:

INBOX (not clickable)
Draft (is linked with /Draft ... shows an error)
Sent (is linked with /Sent ... shows an error)
Trash (is linked with /Trash ... shows an error)
Archive
Draft (the real draft ... works)
Sent (the real sent ... works)
Trash (the real trash ... works)

FTGate stores the mail within folders this way (delimiter is /):

martin.hochreiter
|__Draft
|__Sent
|__Trash
|__Archive
Inbox Mail 1
Inbox Mail 2
Inbox Mail 3
...

As mentioned above - the issue with the special folders I can ignore,
but if I click

on a subdirectory I want to get back to the inbox mail somehow ...

Re: [SM-USERS] IMAP Folders

2006-02-20 Thread Martin Waschbüsch
Do you mean not saving any user preferences concerning which folder will
be used for inbox or sent mail or draft?

If you do then I'd think that removing the preferences for it would be
better, because people will not even know they *could* change it and then
wonder why it does not work...

[SM-USERS] global_abook does not work using mysql

2006-02-23 Thread Martin Weil

Hello there!

I am using Debian Sarge,
with the Squirrelmail package provided by Debian (v. 1.4.4) and mysql
4.0.24 provided by the Debian repository, too.

We are trying to migrate from the file based global_abook to the
database driven one.

the table was created using the following command:

CREATE TABLE sm_abook_global (
owner varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
nickname varchar(16) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
firstname varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
lastname varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
email varchar(128) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL,
label varchar(255),
PRIMARY KEY (owner,nickname),
KEY firstname (firstname,lastname)
);

The preferences and personal abook were also created, they work
perfectly.

Just the global addressbook doesn't show up in squirrelmail. I have
made some dummy entries to test this, with no luck.

The (important) Squirrelmail configuration:

$default_use_javascript_addr_book = true;
$abook_global_file = '';
$abook_global_file_writeable = false;

$addrbook_dsn = 'mysql://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/mail';
$addrbook_table = 'sm_abook';

$prefs_dsn = 'mysql://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/mail';
$prefs_table = 'sm_userprefs';
$prefs_user_field = 'user';
$prefs_key_field = 'prefkey';
$prefs_val_field = 'prefval';
$addrbook_global_dsn = 'mysql://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/mail';
$addrbook_global_table = 'sm_abook_global';
$addrbook_global_writeable = false;
$addrbook_global_listing = true;

I have searched the archives and the internet, and didn't come up
with a solution.

Best Regards,
Martin Weil

Change something else in SquirrelMail configuration and see if it

message_details or

info plugins.

I everything I change does show up. I experimented with the databases

Two things.
1. owner field value must be set to 'global'. Other entries are
ignored.

I changed that, and it worked. You should add that to your
documentation... I wonder why I seem to be the only one to have this
problem.

2. enable writing into global db address book, fix 1.4.4 issues with
backend selection (http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/KnownBugs) and try
adding some entries with SquirrelMail address book form or use
abook_import_export plugin to import your address book data.

I do not need writing into the adressbook, but thanks anyway.

Thank you.

Martin

Re: [SM-USERS] Plugin Message Flags and SM 1.4.6

2006-03-16 Thread Martin Waschbüsch
Hi!

I just tried to install the msg_flags plugin and it works really well, but
for one problem with the German translation:

These English words translate into:

Move => Verschieben
Forward => Weiterleiten
Flag => markieren
Unflag => demarkieren
Read => gelesen
Unread => ungelesen
Delete => Löschen

Since the German words are so much longer than the English ones, using
this plugin will result in the right frame being expanded so that a
scrollbar appears and I have to scroll to the right to see all of the
status information on the messages.

Note that I am using a screen resolution of 1280x1024 and a font size of
10, so I really think this should not happen!

Is there a way so that the buttons will not share one line with the folder
selection (the one where I can select which folder to move messages to?)
or otherwise split this line to make things look ok once more?

Thanks,

Martin

[SM-USERS] (no subject)

2006-07-27 Thread Martin Egge
Hi,
I've installed Squirrelmail 1.4.7 some days ago.
I'm sending my mails via /usr/bin/sendmail because my webhoster does not
allow socket connections. My configuration is o.k., otherwise you won't
read this mail. But there is still one problem, I can't send messages to
multiple recipients. If I send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED],
[EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] nobody recieves the message. There is
no warning about something being wrong.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve the problem?

As I've already said, this does not work for me. It gives:

That was just a typo. Of course I'm using /usr/bin/sendmail.

P.S.: I've a two-days delay on this mailinglist. Does anyone else have that

I've no idea, this is just a webspace. I've no root access. Is there any way

Hi Tomas,

I just installed the plugin and patch (I use SquirrelMail 1.4.7) and it works
great!
If you like I could provide a German translation for it. Is it enough to
provide a German version of abook_extend.pot?

Thanks,

Re: [SM-USERS] Address book - additional fields

2006-08-02 Thread Martin Waschbüsch
Hi Tomas,

I created a preleminary translation. I have not much experience with this, so
I am unsure whether I set the right encoding type? I chose ISO-8859-15
(Western European including Euro Symbol).

Also, I noticed that both for view.php and edit.php the headline for Home
Address and Business Address where not centered like the other two headlines,
but aligned to the left. Personally, I do not care about that sort of thing
other than I like it all to be the same, so I changed it. (See diffs
attached).

In Address view, the plugin will add a link 'more' to access extra entries.
This does not make use of any localizable string yet, so I could only have
hard-coded it into German. in squirrelmail.po, there already is a string for
that, so perhaps that could be used?

Thanks,

Martin

Binary abook_extended.mo file is created with 'msgfmt -v -c -o
abook_extended.mo abook_extended.po' command. Translated abook_extended.po
and abook_extended.mo files should be stored in same directory that stores
squirrelmail.po and squirrelmail.mo files. German translation is stored in
locale/de_DE/LC_MESSAGES.

[SM-USERS] Squirrelmail and sasldb2 plugin

2006-10-20 Thread Martin Schweizer
Hello

I use the following system:

- FreeBSD 6.1
- Sendmail
- Cyrus Imap
- Squirrelmail 1.48 (incl. plugin Change SASL Password )

As described in the Readme and in chgsaslpasswd.c
file (from the plugin directory) I set the following:

chgsaslpasswd.c
***
...
#define UID 60
...

(UID 60 is the user cyrus)

chgsaslpasswd (compiled version)
***
- chmod to 4550
- chown to cyrus:www

(www is the apache group)

-r-sr-x--- 1 cyrus www 5167 20 Okt 11:52 chgsaslpasswd

/usr/local/etc/sasldb2.db
***
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cyrus 24576 20 Okt 11:46 sasldb2.db

With the above rights it will not work (these are the defaults). If I
set these to

-rw-r--rw- 1 root cyrus 24576 20 Okt 11:46 sasldb2.db

then it works (but is security hole).

Any ideas?

Regards,
Martin

I'm very confused because it's not running. Here my details:

In chgsaslpasswd.c I defined as
#define UID 60
#define CMD "/usr/local/bin/sudo -u root /usr/local/sbin/saslpasswd2
(in sudoers is root defined as allowed all, I also tested this string
as a normal shell user and it works)

or
#define UID 60
#define CMD "/usr/local/sbin/saslpasswd2"

both is not working.

sasldb2.db is not working with
-rw-rw 1 root cyrus24K 3 Nov 16:53 sasldb2.db

it's working only with -rw-rw--w- but the strange issue is that the
group cyrus has the members

acsvfbsd04# pw show group cyrus
cyrus:*:60:cyrus,www

and httpd is running as user www (and group www).

As which user does chgsaslpasswd running? The rights are
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 3,3K 3 Nov 17:30 chgsaslpasswd (I will
set the rights discribed in the Readme later).

PS: I'm not a c programmer but what does chgsaslpasswd? I see only
some definitions (at the begin) and some compares (at the end).

Regards,
Martin

Probably you missunderstood my comments. Of course I followed Readme
and install but I also tested chgsaslpasswd with
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root www3368 8 Nov 08:19 chgsaslpasswd
too. Both with no success.

Now I have
-rw-rw 1 root cyrus 24576 8 Nov 08:09 sasldb2.db
(I cross checked the rights with the user cyrus which can set password
with saslpasswd2)
and
-r-sr-x--- 1 root www3368 8 Nov 08:19 chgsaslpasswd
and
acsvfbsd04# pw show group cyrus
cyrus:*:60:cyrus,www
and
#define UID 60 (the cyrus one's)

This does not work unless I set #define UID to 0 (the root one's).

Any ideas are welcome.

Regards,
Martin

[SM-USERS] Can't get into INBOX.Sent

2007-05-18 Thread Martin Ortmayr
Hi, I have a Windows installation of Squirrel Mail running in conjunction with
the Mercury Mail server. When a logged in user clicks on the red INBOX.Sent on
the left, the following error comes up:

ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: SELECT "mail/INBOX.Sent"
Reason Given: No such folder.

It has always been this way but it has become annoying enough now that I would
like to fix it, I guess the directories were not set up properly initially. Can
someone tell me where this directory should be created and if that would solve
the problem? I tried poking around with the conf.pl utility but couldn't find
anything.
Thanks in advance,
Martin

[SM-USERS] cant view messages in Inbox for large spool files

2007-09-10 Thread Martin Moriarty
Hi there
I recently upgraded to squirrelmail 1.4.9a, now running on php 5.2.4 ,
on apache 2.0.59 on Suse Enterprise Server 9. Up to the upgrade I was
able to view all messages for all users irregardless of size of spool
file. Ive a few awkward managers with mailboxes larger than 100meg.
Since the upgrade , none of these users ( ie ones with *about 100mg
mailboxes in size or over ) have been able to view any messages. They
get a Inbox icon with the number of Unread messages, but a blank screen
on right hand side of page If they click on the Inbox icon the screen
stays blank. Just wondering is this a known problem , or is there a
setting somewhere to increase this parameter? Ive upgraded both
squirrelmail and php so cant tie the problem down totally
In some ways, its an excellent way of getting these users to decrease
their mail files once and for all, though given the seniority of these
people I think I will have issues.:) So any way around this problem
would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks in advance
Martin

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for that. I'll have a closer look at maildir for the future.
Im running UW imap server here at present.
Re logs etc, sorry, I neglected to mention that I had checked these, and
had found no related errors.
However, Ive since solved the problem with a bit of further research,by
increasing the memory_limit parameter in php.ini., so all is ok now
Many thanks for your assistance

[SM-USERS] attachments disappear when forwarding to abook

2007-11-05 Thread Martin Zuziak
Hello all

Let's say I want to forward a message containing an attachment.

This works when I manually enter the addresses of the recipients but if
I enter the address book and select recipients there the attachment will
disappear.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

I'm using SM 1.4.11 on apache 2.2.3 with php 5.1.2.

Sincerely,

Martin Zuziak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

[SM-USERS] TIME_OUT stays after each squirrelmail login

2008-02-05 Thread Martin Gombac
Hi,

i have never seen this behavior before, but in my current setup when
people access imap with squirrellmail from first server (WEB), after
successful login there stays a connection in TIME_WAIT stage on the
imap server (MAIL). On my other clusters and also with other imap
clients on this server, no one leaves TIME_WAIT behind.

One can easily leave 100+ opened connections for tracking by clicking
Check mail periodically thus reaching my limit of connections per IP,
causing DOS. :-)

I have:
squirrelmail-1.4.10a
   Installed Plugins
 1. translate
 2. retrieveuserdata
 3. spamcop
 4. filters
 5. message_details
 6. delete_move_next
 7. change_sqlpass
 8. select_range
php-5.2.5
courier-imap-4.0.6
2.6.22-hardened gentoo kernel
every browser

Need i to specify more?

Lines look like:
tcp0 0 XX.XX.XX.1:143 XX.XX.XX.2:37294
TIME_WAIT -
netstat -apln | grep 143 | grep TIME_WAIT | wc -l
86
And i did click 40+ times on check myself.
after some time it comes back down:
netstat -apln | grep 143 | grep TIME_WAIT | wc -l
36

Please help me get connection from squirrelmail closed properly.
Thank you.

Regards,
M.

[SM-USERS] read receipts & Spam

2008-05-13 Thread Martin Hochreiter
Hi!

I am using Squirrel Mail 1.4.9a on a Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10.
We have the annoying problem that Squirrel Mail "read receipts" are
always treated as spam.

The reason is simple:
MailScanner & Spamassassin say: "No sender or watermark detected"

If I am interpreting the headers correctly then the watermark header
is the "MailScanner-NULL-Check" header, but how can I teach squirrel
to fetch and send that header if mentioned in an email?

lg
Martin

By the way - the problems occurs in the 1.4.13 version as well

[SM-USERS] SM on OpenVMS

2002-12-16 Thread Martin Evans
Hi,

Has anyone got SM running on OpenVMS?

I've managed to get it to go with a few errors but I'm a bit stuck now due
to my limited PHP skills. Would anyone be interested in the
errors/assisting? It's a great product so it would be nice to extend it's
use to another OS if it hasn't been done already. One problem for instance
is that you cannot have more than 1 "." in an ovms filename hence I had to
modify file_prefs.php and replace .tmp with _tmp.

Regards,

Martin.

Apache 1.3.26
SM ver 1.2.10
PHP 4.1.1

[SM-USERS] Themes dropdown box under Options is empty

2003-03-25 Thread Martin Morris
Hello all,

I'm running:

Debian 3.0r1
SM: Version: 1:1.3.2+1.4.0rc1-1 (the output of dpkg -s squirrelmail)
PHP 4.2.3
Apache: 1.3.27

My problem is that I am unable to choose a theme because the dropdown box
is empty, even though I can see that I have lots of themes in the relevant
directory on my server.

If I've understood a changelog on the squirrelmail website correctly, this
is a known bug in this version of squirrelmail which will be fixed later.
Can someone confirm or deny this?

m.

Yup after sending an email, i see nothing..
I check error_log of my apache, and it results like this:

PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in
/home/winter/www/mail.bloomasia.com/functions/imap_general.php on line
610

But weirdly, email sent, i tried to send an email to myself, and to my other
account at yahoo, hotmail, etc..
It should be any confirmation at the top, like "Your Messages Is Sent" , but
it didnt appeared.
Is this some kind of bug ?

Regards,
Rio Martin.
P.S. I ve increased maximum execution limit to 60seconds, but sadly its
still didnt solve the problem yet..

What version of Squirrelmail did you apply this ?
In Squirrelmail-1.4.0 it wont worked.
There is one variable must be add to page_header.php before you insert
those $username variable (:

I ve succeed adding username in the left side of curent folder, but
perhaps a litle bit to the right, before sign out would be nice just as
praveen said..

Hi all squirrelmail users and developers.

Past few days I try to find an answer, how to make imap folders created with
Squirrel in Czech - ISO-8859-2 encoding containing special chars like "cstzr"
with hook readable in email clients like Kmail and Outlook Express. The same
problem contrariwise - folder made in Kmail or Outlook Express are
unreadable in Squirrel.
Should somebody make some compatibility changes in
functions/imap_utf7_local.php to have imap folder with ISO-8859-2 encoding
visible properly in all email clients ?

Thanks Martin

RE: [SM-USERS] Problem changing themes - SM 1.4.0

2003-04-12 Thread Martin Morris
Hello Jonathan,

No, I'm trying to change the theme as you suggest, but am also checkign
there's nothing in conf.pl that I should be doing as well.

I've tried this with various editions of IE, and Mozilla, and it just seems
to completely ignore me. Any ideas what's going on?

...and thanks for your help so far!

I missed the beginning of this, but from what I read, it seemed like
you were trying to change your theme via the conf.pl script. Is this
the case? If it is, that isn't where you set the theme for each user.
If you login, go to Options, then Display Preferences, the theme is
changed in there.

Do you think it's not possible to hack plugins to do that?
where can I find a list of where plugins can be placed?

thanks

Wrapping every page inside divs would be great, but I know it's not possible. As a
second option, adding a header and footer for every page would be great (the header
and footer are divs, that what I meant :)

Thanks for everything

[SM-USERS] Login disabled user=xxx auth=xxx

2004-03-21 Thread Martin Foster
Trying to get Squirrel Mail 1.4.2 to work on my OpenBSD 3.3 install.
Essentially, all of the scripts seem to be working, configuration has
taken place without much trouble.

However every attempt to login will produce the following error in the
security logs:

Mar 21 13:02:17 callisto imapd[10404]: Login disabled user=martin
auth=martin host=localhost [127.0.0.1]
Mar 21 13:04:03 callisto imapd[1077]: Login disabled user=martin
auth=martin host=localhost [127.0.0.1]

In this case, that username has shell access while other users did not.
Is there a way to get this corrected?

Yes, but you're not giving us any information, so I'm going to make
some assumptions. You're using UW-IMAP, it has been compiled so that
LOGIN is disabled. SquirrelMail needs LOGIN otherwise it cannot login,
it will NOT work with STARTTLS. You should be able to run over TLS if
you set it up correctly.

You are correct, I am using UW-IMAP.   So I have to change the option
in the CC client directly then?   Any easy way to do this in ports?

There is undocumented option. It is mentioned once in
/usr/local/share/doc/imap-uw/imaprc.txt

information from some other unnamed operating system

Plaintext logins

By default, plaintext logins are disabled unless you are using SSL or TLS.
This was done upstream to follow security recommendations by IETF (The
Internet Engineering Task Force).

If you absolutely must use plaintext passwords, you will need to use the
semi-official /etc/c-client.cf

See doc/imaprc.txt for further information. You specifically want to:

set disable-plaintext nil

Correct path of c-client.cf may depend on changes made in your package.

OpenBSD 3.4 also provides package with plaintext logins enabled.

http://www.openbsd.org/3.4_packages/i386/imap-uw-2002.338-plaintext.tgz-long.html

http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/en_US/UWLoginDisabled

I noticed it was one of the flavors available and did the correction.ÂÂ
Works great now! Thanks!

[SM-USERS] Squirrelmail and cyrus. Inbox empty but mail succesfully delivered to ?home/userX/Maildir/new/

2009-11-20 Thread Martin Amarante
Hello, my name is Martin, I was wondering if maybe you could help me solve
this problem.
I am doing a project for school, a mail server and I decided to use cyrus
and squirrelmail.
for authentication i use sasl.
I dont really know much about servers but I think there is something wrong
with my setup.
In order to create a new user i do:

su cyrus
cyradm localhost
>cm user.
>quit
exit
saslpasswd2 -c -u server1
useradd -d /home/ -m

and then I am able to login using squirrelmail.
The actual problem is that I can send emails and (supposely) receive them
but they never show on the inbox, If I open the Sent folder they appear
there but never in the inbox, but on the other hand the emails are actually
delivered to /home//Maildir/new/

Its like if squirrelmail doesnt know where to look for the inbox.

If you could help me, Id really appreciate it.

Thank you so much in advance.

Martin

Re: [SM-USERS] Squirrelmail and cyrus. Inbox empty but mail succesfully delivered to ?home/userX/Maildir/new/

2009-11-20 Thread Martin Amarante
Hey thanks for the quick response.
I have a setting called home_mailbox = Maildir/
in /etc/postfix/main.cf
Actually before I set that mails were stored in /var/mail/

But now even if I delete that setting in main.cf nothing changes and the
inbox is still empty.
A strange thing is that if i move mails from the Sent folder to the Inbox in
squirrelmail they actually appear in inbox, but not the new emails.

You think what you said is still the problem?

Thank you very much

Martin

Re: [SM-USERS] Squirrelmail and cyrus. Inbox empty but mail succesfully delivered to ?home/userX/Maildir/new/

2009-11-20 Thread Martin Amarante
Sorry to bother you again.
I did something so maybe you have a better idea of whats wrong.
a created a new user "nico" just the way I detailed in the first mail ( i
can login into squirrelmail just by doing the cyradm steps and the
saslpasswd2... but if I dont add the user to the system I cant send mails.
after I created the user i logged in and send a mail to the same user (
n...@server1.example.com) and right after that I run :

find / -amin 1 > 21.21

to see what had changed in the last minute
then I run
cat 2121 | grep nico

and this is the output:

/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Sent/1.
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Sent/cyrus.index
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Sent/cyrus.header
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Sent/cyrus.cache
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Trash/cyrus.index
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Trash/cyrus.header
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/Trash/cyrus.cache
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/cyrus.index
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/cyrus.header
/var/spool/imap/user/nico/cyrus.cache
/srv/www/htdocs/squirrelmail/data/nico.abook

I hope this helps :) and thanks again
