[SM-USERS] SquirrelMail authenticated user in message headers

I'm also interested in this issue, and I've searched the Development archives but have not found *the* solution. I found many posts discussing the issue and how it might be handled, but not how to actually disable this. Could you please let us know if it's possible to disable the display of the "SquirrelMail authenticated user" header in the stable branch, as in 1.4.4? Thanks. --- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. Discover which products truly live up to the hype. Yes, I understand that. I am the administrator. However, it also creates a security and privacy issue, and in fact I have received spam to the address shown in this header even though that address is never used for receiving mail. (The login address is used solely for login.) I'd like to disable it, either systemwide or on a per-user basis. However, I'd prefer not to have to manually hack the code. I hope someone will provide this as an option in core or as a plugin. --- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. [SM-USERS] How to remove "Folders" text from folders frame ?
I'm using SM 1.4.4. What do I have to edit out to remove display of the "Folders" text heading from the folders frame? It takes up some vertical space which, in conjunction with the other stuff I have in that frame, is just sufficient to cause display of a vertical scrollbar. So, I want to remove it. I edited /src/left_main.php to remove "Folders" text in 1.4.2, but the code has changed since then and I can't figure out what to edit out (since I don't know PHP). Can anyone please tell me what to edit out in /src/left_main.php to safely remove display of "Folders" heading? [SM-USERS] One attachment drops off the message each time
SquirrelMail 1.4.4 PHP 4.3.11 UWIMAPD (IMAP4rev1 2002.325-cpanel) Apache 1.3.33 CentOS 3.3 Many plugins Sorry, I can't find anything similar in my searches, and I'm not even sure what to name this problem. I compose a message and attach a few JPG images. I send the message, one of the attachments drops off. When I open the copy of the message in the Sent folder, sure enough one of the attachments is missing. If I click "Edit Message as New" and send it again, now another attachment drops off what is actually sent. e.g. I attach 5 JPG images to a message. I send it, but when I open the copy in Sent folder, it shows only 4 images. If I edit that as new and send again, now the Sent copy shows only 3 images were sent. Any ideas on things to check/test would be appreciated. Please reply to my address, as I'm not currently receiving the list distribution. Thanks. --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc. It doesn't seem predictable, at least not based on my limited testing. I attached three .PRN files yesterday, and all three were sent. But when I attached four or five JPGs, at least one always "dropped off". > As a side note, an upgrade is certainly suggested, 1.4.4 has known > security issues. Details of them can be seen here > http://www.squirrelmail.org/security/ Yep, I know, I just haven't had time. If this problem is due to the issue you think it is, is it fixed in 1.4.5? I'm just so busy right now (packing and moving, in addition to work) that I don't really have time to test out CVS versions. At least if I install a stable release, then that takes care of my next upgrade. Is it fixed in 1.4.5, so I could install that to try? Or, can I apply a patch or just replace certain files? Or, is the team close to releasing 1.4.6 stable? Thanks for your interest and advice, as always. --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc. [SM-USERS] register_globals=on error in new 1.4.6 installation, though 1.4.4 on same server is fine
SquirrelMail 1.4.6 PHP 4.4.1 UWIMAPD (IMAP4rev1 2003.339p-cpanel) Apache 1.3.34 CentOS 4.2 i686 Our webserver runs as nobody. Hello all. I'm installing 1.4.6, though I have been using 1.4.4 for a while now on the same server. I ran SquirrelMail configtest on the new 1.4.6 installation, and it stopped at this error: ERROR: You have enabled php register_globals. Running PHP installation with register_globals=on can cause problems. See security information about register_globals. I've read the link and also several posts on various lists, but I'm not much wiser. Can someone please summarize: - what is the problem and is it serious? - can the problem be easily solved without breaking something else? - I'm on shared hosting (it's not my server) so can I solve this? - Is there any way to let the configtest bypass the register_globals error so that it will run the remaining tests? Because I'm on a shared server I override some PHP values locally in an .htaccess file, such as to enable attachments greater than 2 MB. So, I added the following to the .htaccess file in the new 1.4.6 directory: php_value register_globals Off I then ran phpinfo.php, and it showed that while the Master Value is still "On", the Local Value for register_globals is now "Off". Yet when I re-run SquirrelMail configtest it still says that register_globals=on even though it has been overridden locally. Help please, this is beyond my knowledge. We need them to stop putting so much content into fixed-width tables, to make better use of structural modelling, and to make liberal use of class and ID attributes. The work involved is relatively minor, but it requires people who code HTML, as I do, using better structure with DIVs and other elements rather than fixed-width tables. That allows them to flexibly adapt to any screen, and allows users to style them more readily to alter both layout and formatting. [SM-USERS] Messages sent via SquirrelMail often flagged as spam
SquirrelMail 1.4.6 PHP 4.4.1 UWIMAPD (IMAP4rev1 2003.339p-cpanel) Apache 1.3.34 CentOS 4.2 i686 Our webserver runs as nobody. Many of my recipients don't receive my messages, sent from SquirrelMail, because my messages end up in their spam folders or are filtered out by their ISP or employer as spam. Why does this happen so often with SquirrelMail-sent messages? I know about the "bug" in one version of Spam Assassin, that mistakently assigns messages sent by SquirrelMail with a higher spam score than is warranted. I also have some recipients who find that my messages end up flagged in the subject line with "Bayesian Filter detected spam". With some such recipients, an initial message makes it through cleanly, but if I reply to their message then it will be flagged "Bayesian Filter detected spam". With some other recipients it's unclear what spam filtering is in place, but my messages always end up in their spam folder. Yes, users should check their spam folders. But, some users aren't clued in enough to remember to do that. From a non-informed user perspective, it would be better if we SM administrators could do something to minimize the chances that our mail is flagged or blocked as spam. We do allow users to edit multiple identities: it's very useful to be able to send FROM multiple addresses, all within a single SM login. As I recall, a while back this was discussed on one of the lists, and many people felt that this was a privacy issue. They, and I, would like to see an administrator option to disable the header showing username information, even if we do allow use of multiple identities. > ... >>> If you use sendmail (http://www.sendmail.org) and SquirrelMail is >>> configured to use /usr/sbin/sendmail, sendmail can add extra headers >>> about untrusted senders. [SM-USERS] Change username of mail account, or move mail to new account
SquirrelMail 1.4.6 PHP 4.3.11 UWIMAPD (IMAP4rev1 2003.339p-cpanel) Apache 1.3.34 CentOS 4.3 Our webserver runs as nobody. Greetings all. I realize this isn't strictly an SM question, but I figured that the smart people here may be the best source of an answer. I want to change the username of a mail account that is accessed with SM. e.g. I want to change it from [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Domain stays the same, but mail user name changes.) What's the best way to do this, so logging in with the new mail user name [EMAIL PROTECTED] will show all the mail and folders that were in Moe's account and all prefs are changed to the new name? Or, if that's too complicated, I could create the new user account [EMAIL PROTECTED] separately, and manually recreate the various SM prefs. In that case, how would I move or copy all the mail and folders from the old account to the new account, from [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks for considering this puzzle. -- squirrelmail-users mailing list Posting Guidelines: http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/MailingListPostingGuidelines List Address: squirrelmail-users@lists.sourceforge.net List Archives: http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.mail.squirrelmail.user List Archives: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=2995 List Info: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/squirrelmail-users

Chris's reply was on Friday, June 16, with Subject line: "Re: [SM-USERS] Change username of mail account, or move mail to new account" It's the weirdest thing. I've been trying to reply to Chris's message, including the quoted stuff, but I can't. Thanks Tomas. I tested with a few forms, and that and your other advice helped me narrow it down. I discovered that my web host uses mod_security on their servers. Apparently that is blocking the entire message, or form input, due to one little line of Chris' message. That line shows forward slashes and directory names, to indicate some directories Chris was pointing me to. For some reason mod_security rejects the message or input because of that line. -- squirrelmail-users mailing list Posting Guidelines: http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/MailingListPostingGuidelines List Address: squirrelmail-users@lists.sourceforge.net List Archives: http://news.gmane.org/thread.php?group=gmane.mail.squirrelmail.user List Archives: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=2995 List Info: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/squirrelmail-users

My SquirrelMail has become so painfully slow that it is often unusable, and often it fails and displays "page not found" error pages in the folder list frame, the message list frame, or both frames. SquirrelMail was fine before about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and I have made no changes to SquirrelMail in that time. I rent space on a shared web server, and I'm sure there have been changes to the server config in that time. However, the server loads are normal and the support guys can't find anything to explain the SM slowness. The problem is not with any individual mail account. [SM-USERS] Bounceback: Invalid character in mail header
SquirrelMail 1.4.6 PHP 4.4.4 UWIMAPD (IMAP4rev1 2004.357-cpanel) Apache 1.3.37 CentOS 4.4 Our webserver runs as nobody. IMAP Server Address: 127.0.0.1 Sendmail for outgoing mail Server side sorting is enabled Server side thread sorting is disabled register_globals are off for my installation, but they are on for the rest of the server I received the following "bounceback" message saying my message could not be delivered to the intended recipient. I've never seen this warning before. I Googled it and checked some help sites, but I can't find an explanation of what the problem is. Is this some problem with how SquirrelMail wrote the headers, or a problem with my web host's mail server? -- Text of bounceback warning below --- INVALID CHARACTERS IN HEADER Non-encoded 8-bit data (char C8 hex) in message header 'X-Source' X-Source: \310(\365\267,\034\236\277\312\n ^ This nondelivery report was generated by the amavisd-new program at host mail. Our internal reference code for your message is 10172-04. WHAT IS AN INVALID CHARACTER IN MAIL HEADER? The RFC 2822 standard specifies rules for forming internet messages. It does not allow the use of characters with codes above 127 to be used directly (non-encoded) in mail header (it also prohibits NUL and bare CR). If characters (e.g. with diacritics) from ISO Latin or other alphabets need to be included in the header, these characters need to be properly encoded according to RFC 2047. This encoding is often done transparently by mail reader (MUA), but if automatic encoding is not available (e.g. by some older MUA) it is the user's responsibility to avoid the use of such characters in mail header, or to encode them manually. Typically the offending header fields in this category are 'Subject', 'Organization', and comment fields in e-mail addresses of the 'From', 'To' and 'Cc'. Sometimes such invalid header fields are inserted automatically by some MUA, MTA, content checker, or other mail handling service. If this is the case, that service needs to be fixed or properly configured. Typically the offending header fields in this category are 'Date', 'Received', 'X-Mailer', 'X-Priority', 'X-Scanned', etc. If you don't know how to fix or avoid the problem, please report it to _your_ postmaster or system manager. - Using Tomcat but need to do more? I guess that means that either my host's mail server is incorrectly configured, or that the headers were somehow corrupted on this message. If it happens again I'll contact my host's support. The pulldown menu simply > says '(None)' and can't be encouraged to offer any other alternatives. You can still create your folders. Your system's config is simply telling you that they won't be sub-folders of Inbox. Why do they need to be? The behaviour of folders, sub-folders and Inbox are greatly affected by both the SM configuration that's been entered and the particular IMAP server in use. UWIMAP, for example, won't allow a folder to contain both folders and messages, so new folders therefore can't be sub-folders of message-containing Inbox. But, you haven't said what IMAP server is in use so we have no way to know what the behaviour should be on your system or whether it has been correctly configured. - Using Tomcat but need to do more? For example, on the message listing "Forward" is a button, but when reading a message "Forward" is a link. Likewise, the Spam Buttons plugin uses "Spam" and "Not Spam" buttons a message list, but does them as links when reading a message. Even if the function needs to appear as a button once, maybe that large button could be shoved to the bottom of the page and the function called with links in the more convenient part of the page. - Using Tomcat but need to do more? Re: [SM-USERS] mac mail and squirrel mail
SquirrelMail doesn't contain your mail. SquirrelMail is simply software to view IMAP mail accounts. It is an IMAP mail client. If you want to use a different web application or desktop software to either view your mail account via IMAP or download your mail via POP, just enter the appropriate settings (server names, account name, password, etc.) into your software. If you don't know those settings, check the web site or help desk of your mail account provider. [SM-USERS] Spam Buttons plugin with SpamAssassin on cPanel server?
Is anyone using the Spam Buttons plugin with SpamAssassin on a cPanel hosted server? I've been trying to enable such a combination, but am having difficulty getting the Spam Buttons plugin working. [SM-USERS] Error code "2" for SpamAssassin and/or SA-learn
Does anyone know what Error code "2" means for SpamAssassin and/or SA-learn? I installed the Spam Buttons plugin for SquirrelMail. I enablee Report-By-Shell Command Options. In the config file, I enabled the following lines: $is_spam_shell_command = '/usr/bin/sa-learn --spam'; $is_not_spam_shell_command = '/usr/bin/sa-learn --ham'; Note that those commands do work on our server when run outside SquirrelMail. When SA Learn is run on a batch of messages in a folder, it returns feedback like this: spam SA Learn: Learned tokens from 9 message(s) (12 message(s) examined We just haven't been able to achieve similar success when using the plugin. I selected five messages and clicked the "Spam" button, and received this feedback: ERROR 2: Problem reporting message ID 392: Learned tokens from 0 message(s) (1 message(s) examined) It always says it has learned from 0 messages, always examined only 1 message, always shows Error 2. I've Googled extensively to find a list of SpamAssassin error codes, but cannot find such a list. Can anyone provide more detail on what "ERROR 2" signifies? - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [SM-USERS] SM doesn't match upper-case address to lower-case identity
SM 1.4.9a (I won't include my usual list of installation details, as I think it's not relevant for this issue.) I allow use of Advanced Identities, so each user can have multiple identities. (Multiple addresses, names, etc.) One of the great features of SM is that as long as each address has an identity, when replying SM automatically inserts the same FROM address as the original message to me was addressed TO. IOW, if someone sends to [EMAIL PROTECTED], when I reply then that address will be used as the FROM address. If someone sends to [EMAIL PROTECTED], then as long as I have an identify for that SM will insert that as the FROM address when I reply. Problem: SM seems to get fooled by mail addresses in all caps. Even though I have an identity for [EMAIL PROTECTED], if someone mails to [EMAIL PROTECTED] then when I reply SM inserts my default identity in FROM instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED] It seems that SM doesn't match the all-caps address to the lower-case identity even though they are the same address. Unfortunately French companies often put mail addresses in all caps, so this is a problem for me. Can SM be tweaked to recognize identity addresses irrespective of case? - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [SM-USERS] OT: PHP include path question
Sorry, this is OT, but I'm a complete newbie to PHP and I know there are some smart PHP coders in this group. If you would indulge me, could you please let me know the best way to define paths for includes. Currently I'm working on a site that is located in a sub-directory of my web hosting account. When it's complete, I'll move it to the server of the non-profit group I'm doing this for, where presumably it will live at the web root (directly under the domain name). Ideally I'd like to have to change some central variable rather than have to change paths on every page or in every script. I found the attached posts in various PHP forums. I'm sure you are familiar with many of those approaches. Please help my understanding and/or let me know what is the best approach to use. Thanks very much for any assistance, and for understanding and allowing an occasional OT post. someone in a forum wrote: PHP should set its DOCUMENT_ROOT variable to the root folder, so try using the following form of include statements, and that should work on most servers I believe. CODE The DOCUMENT_ROOT variable should automatically always get the right path to your root html folder on the server, and from there you know the file structure. someone else wrote: The first file included in every script is a small config file (in the same directory as the script itself, so it's guaranteed to be found in a default PHP setup) which sets the include paths. In that file I have something like this: ini_set('include_path', ini_get('include_path') . ':' . realpath('relative/path/to/include_directory')); Because of the 'realpath' function, which translates relative paths to absolute paths, I can copy the directory tree of my application to another machine and everything will keep working, even if the directory structure 'above' my application is different. someone else wrote: Include "paths.inc" into every file. The file "paths.inc" contains variables each containing the path to a directory, relative to the directory that particular "paths.inc" file is in. For example, I have a paths.inc file in the root directory that has these variables: $includesDir = 'includes/'; $cssDir = 'css/'; $jsDir = 'js/'; I also have one in a "photos" subdirectory that has these variables: $includesDir = '../includes/'; $cssDir = '../css/'; $jsDir = '../js/'; That way the relative paths to several directories can be written to any file anywhere in my site's hierarchy. Here are the posts I found via Google: someone wrote: Where you left that space for the menu, include this piece of code: Then save the file. As long as you have the correct path to your menu.php code this will work once you upload both pages to your PHP compatible server. I don't suggest using the previous code since it relies on relative paths, and since you will want to use these page includes across your site you will want to use absolute paths. To use absolute paths, use the following code where the first slash indicates starting from the domain name: To be efficient, you should make a folder where all your pages indended for including will go. Name the folder includes or incl or template or snippets or whatever you would like. someone else said: The path you specify in a PHP include or require statement is a path in the web server's file system, not a URL. The path is relative to the current page, or to the 'include_path' variable from php.ini. If you know the file system path to the directory where your include file is, you can do this: Code: The $separator is OS-dependent; usually colon on unix/Linux systems and semi-colon on Windows. You can find the file system path to your root directory by examining a server variable: Code: someone else said: Say your web root is /path/to/webroot/, and you have a site served from /path/to/webroot/mysite/, you just create a folder below the web root for your includes, such as /path/to/includes/ In your PHP files, e.g. /path/to/webroot/mysite/index.php, you can include files from that folder using: include "/path/to/includes/myinclude.inc.php"; or include "../../includes/myinclude.inc.php"; Personally Id recommend the former method - using relative paths can quickly get messy in more complex sites. I would also declare a global variable containing the include path (or paths), which makes moving to another server or another location on your server painless. @Mike: Hopefully that will make it clear. No-one can access myinclude.inc.php directly, since it resides outside the web root (i.e. http://mysite.com/index.php will include the file, but http://mysite.com/includes/myinclude.inc.php doesnt exist). someone else said: There is another, easier way to access an include directory outside of the root directory. In the php.ini file is a section called Paths and Directories. In there is a parameter called include_path. This sets all of the directories where the PHP inter

It's a script to enable the site navigation menu to live in a separate HTML file, currently Menu.htm. I want to keep most of the PHP in a separate file or files, such as currently in Menu.php. That way the content web pages are mostly straight HTML with just a small amount of PHP at the top such as the includes. Each web page will ultimately grab Menu.htm via PHP include. This enables easier maintenance of the navigation menu, as only that one file needs editing when new pages are added or links changed. When the file is included, PHP will also identify the currently-viewed page by writing an attribute into the Anchor of the nav menu link to that currently-viewed page. > It also depends where you are needing to use this kind of code. The include is inserted in each content web page where I want the navigation menu to appear. It would be good to do this in such a way that the include_once statement always uses the same path, so that it doesn't need to be different for web pages calling the include from varying levels of nested directories. IOW, the site will have content pages in directories and sub-directories and it would simplify site creation and addititions if the include_once line were always the same and did not have to change depending upon what directory level the content web page resides in. Using your "home" directory variable idea, at the top of each content web page (before the doctype declaration) I have this (yes, I realize I can name SM_PATH whatever I want, but for now that makes it obvious to me what I'm doing and that it was your suggestion): Later in the page, where I want the menu to appear, I have this: Menu.php contains, in addition to other code, this line: $nav = file_get_contents("CSSetc/Menu.htm"); Menu.htm is just the navigation menu, HTML only. > define your own "home" directory variable (constant is better) > and use it EVERYWHERE you refer to a file in PHP. > here is how SM does it. Look at /src/compose.php: > First thing it does is define the relative path to the main > application directory. After that, all files are included using that > constant. /src/compose.php contains: define('SM_PATH','../'); /plugins/newmail/newmail.php contains: define('SM_PATH','../../'); Thanks, I've now added something similar to my pages, and it works, so that's one issue you've solved. So, I need to ensure that in that "define" line I add another "../" each time a page is in a lower-level sub-directory. I'm not missing something, that there's some automated way to accomplish that, am I? I assume that when adding that "define" line to each page that you must first know how many directory levels deep the page will be, so as to add the right number of "../" > if you have things like links and image tags in plain HTML, then just > make sure all the files those point to are done with RELATIVE links. Yes, that's what I always do. e.g. I always use references such as link rel="stylesheet" href="../../CSSetc/Mainsite.css" That's fine for linking a stylesheet or images, but is a problem in the Menu.htm because it gets included into content web pages that live in varying directory levels. So a relative link in Menu.htm that works from one directory deep doesn't work from two directories deep. Your sqm_baseuri() idea might be that way to deal with that. > If you need to calculate hrefs and things like that in the PHP code, > it can be a little more complicated, but doesn't have to be for simple > sites. I could be way off here, but is it possible that your mail account is near or over its assigned quota? Try deleting some messages. If you can't, because in IMAP a message must be copied to "move" it to the Trash, then disable Trash so the message deletes. If you don't think you have sufficient messages and attachments in your account to reach quota, then perhaps you have a spam folder or automated spambox that has gotten rather full. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. Also, if you write only to me, I may not have the answer whereas other list members may. 2. This group prefers bottom posting, so a sequence of communication may be followed. I don't know how to check if your spambox is active, because you didn't tell us anything about your system. If it's cPanel, then you access the Spam Assassin page where there's a function "Clear Spam Box", or FTP to see if a spam folder has been created in the mail directory. Or use POP3 to check the spam box, just add "/spam" (without the quotes) to the end of your POP3 login. (Example: [EMAIL PROTECTED]/spam) You can't delete messages because you're at quota, and in IMAP a delete is actually a copy followed by a delete. You have no available quota left, so there's no room for the copy, which is why I suggested you start with the smallest message in case you have a tiny bit of room remaining. I suggest you talk to your administrator, as he could disable the trash folder and also check for a spam box. Another way to clear the inbox to free up space is to download messages via POP3. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. It depends upon the type of mail format you have, which you didn't specify, but usually mail folders can be transferred. I've done it a couple of times. > And, what will happen to the > mail during the time it takes to make the DNS switch? Again, you haven't given us any specifics, so I'll have to give you some general steps. Much depends upon whether your primary nameserver is on the same box as your domain, web site, mail, etc., (such as in a cPanel host) or whether you use an external box for primary nameserver. 1. At least a week prior to the move, you should edit the DNS zone file to reduce the SOA values. That will help to reduce propagation delays when you do make the switch. 2. When you're ready to use the new server, edit the domain's "A" record in the DNS zone on the old server to specify the new IP. That will also assist propagation, as traffic hitting the old box will be given the new IP. 3. If you use personal nameservers, you'll have to update them with the new IPs through a panel at your domain registrar. 4. Just in case you do have some mail end up on the old box after the move, check your mailboxes on the old server for a week or so either via SquirrelMail or via IP address rather than hostname. I could provide more information, but without knowing your specifics I can't know what to tell you. If you follow the steps I provided, that will help you execute a seamless move. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. You still haven't provided any detail about your setup, not even the items that I raised in my earlier response. For example, if your existing mail format is the same as your new server's mail format, and if it's something like maildir whereby each message is a file, you may be able to just do a file transfer. You had asked about DNS delays, and the steps I provided will assist with that. More information usually leads to better help. I don't use a plugin for this purpose. I do it by redirecting traffic for SquirrelMail login to an https login, via an .htaccess file: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^a.mydomain.com$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.a.mydomain.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://mydomain.com/s/src/login.php [R=301,L] - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. I have seen something similar a couple of years ago. I don't think this is a SquirrelMail issue. Your mail server's config determines what logins are acceptable. If you are able to login to SM using extra characters, that's because your mail server is allowing that. You will see extra prefs files because SM must create one for each login. If you change from lower case to upper case and your mail server still enables the login, SM will create a new prefs file matching the new text case. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. Not so. It can indeed be automated, as that functionality is already built in to the Mail Fetchmail plugin with these options: Check mail at login Check mail at folder refresh - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. [SM-USERS] concurrent SM sessions on a single client box - different browsers?
SquirrelMail 1.4.9a I know that a well-known issue is that you can't have concurrent SM sessions on a single client box. Doing so can result in corrupted or miswritten pref files. Can the problem be avoided if the concurrent SM sessions on the single box are in two different browsers? e.g. one account logged in via SquirrelMail in Internet Explorer; the other account via SquirrelMail in Firefox. Has anyone tested that situation, or knows whether it avoids the problem or is still vulnerable to the problem? - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. Thanks Paul. Succinct, accurate and helpful, as usual. I'll use Firefox or Opera in conjunction with IE when I need to run concurrent sessions.
