[SM-USERS] Squirrel mail logs out when switching folders

2005-04-26 Thread David Collis
Log-in works correctly.
The normal functions all let me browse fine - i.e. compose,addressbook,
options etc
When i switch folders however, it logs me out (not always - but most of
the time - sometimes i'll click Sent and it'll log me out straight away
other times it'll let me go to sent then log me out when i go back to
inbox).
Its incredibly irritating as it means after changing settings and
returning to the inbox it might just log me out immediately.
Cookies appear to be set correctly - I have tried this on both Internet
Explorer and Firefox.

SquirrelMail is set to connect to an IMAP server (not on the same
machine) but nearby on the same network.

Anyone have any ideas?
David Collis.

[SM-USERS] shared_calendar problem adding events

2005-04-26 Thread Ruben Fagundo
I found the following error message.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: escapesimple() in
/home/webs/squirrelmail-1.4.4/plugins/calendar_sql_backend/event_functions.php
on line 384

Seems like I'm missing the pear module, however, I clearly have all the
correct rpm installedI'll have to dig further on this one.

thanks,

I installed squirrelmail-1.4.4 along with the appropriate compatibility
plugin and the sql_backend on Fedora Core 2 and MySQL 4.0.
Everything works fine, except that I can't seem to add events to the
calendar. I have tried adding events to the public and personal
calendar. I get not error message, but nothing shows up either. I
checked the mysql tables and nothing got entered into the table.
I put the standard calendar back and it works fine.
Did I miss something here?
Ruben

Glenn,

I have had the same problem several times with several folders, and
have found this works:
1. Empty the folder in question (Inbox in your case)
2. Log out of SM
3. Delete /home/username/mail/.imap/INBOX
4. Log in to SM

I found the folder re-created and functioning normally each time. I
don't know if this is the proper way to fix it but it has worked many
times for me.

HTH,
bob

Ahh, that isn't possible at the moment, and I'm not sure there are any
plugins that could do it either. This feature however is going to be
in the development branch sometime fairly soon when we finish working
out the best way to store preferences for more options.

I think so. I find it entirely redundant, as it is self-evident that the
frame contains the folders list. Maybe "Folders" heading should be removed
from core.

Is that the line that I am to delete?

Thought I should add to this:
Sometimes it takes several attempts to be able to login at all, and it

Basically I think it does this everytime it has to interact with the

don't understand.

[SM-USERS] Possible problem delete messages in Squirrelmail 1.4.4

2005-04-26 Thread Tim Grooms
Hi all,
New to the list and Squirrelmail. Have been running 1.4.4 for about a
week. Have had the same problem occur twice since then and wanted to
ask if anyone else had had this problem.

I've had two different users at two different times logged in to
Squirrelmail trying to delete a message when the system locked up on
them. The message was selected and the DELETE button pressed. The
entire Linux box froze and had to be rebooted each time. After the
reboot, the user was able to go back in to squirrelmail, (message was
still there) and delete the message with no problem. I'm not sure about
the first user but the second was trying to delete a message with an
attachment.

The only activity I could find in the logs at each of these times were
the users logged into Squirrelmail

Thanks for any help/suggestions,

Tomas Kuliavas wrote:

Oddly, I see nothing unusual at all in my maillog to correspond.
The problem appeared under SM 1.4.2 + courier-imap 2.1.2. At various
people's recommendations, I upgraded to SM 1.4.3a + courier-imap 3.0.7, but
the problem remains.

See imapd configuration file. MAXPERIP setting. When you are using webmail
without clustering, all connection are from same ip address.
This is courier - is there a UW Imap equivalent? Same problem. In
folders list:

error: A329 BAD Missing or
invalid argument to APPEND ERROR:
ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server.
Try refreshing this page.
I can't find an imap config anywhere!
I seem to be running imap via xinetd.
In that file i have the lines:
service imap
{
env =
ENSIMVWH_nbconf=/etc/virtualhosting/mappings/imap.domainmap
env +=
ENSIMVWH_ipconf=/etc/virtualhosting/mappings/imap.ipmap
env += ENSIMVWH_keepuser=1

socket_type = stream
wait= no
user= root
server  = /usr/sbin/imapd
log_on_success  += DURATION
disable = no
instances   = UNLIMITED
max_load= 50
}

Showing UNLIMITED instances. However there is no setting for a "per ip"
limit which I probably need to raise.

Please help, someone =)

[SM-USERS] SquirrelSpell not working in safe mode

2005-04-26 Thread JLB
Hi all.

My users have been asking for spell check, so I've decided to finally get
up off my rear and set it up for them. Little did I know it would turn
into this minor nightmare.

PHP is set up in safe mode. When I try to use SquirrelSpell via the "Check
Spelling" button, the window that pops up prints:

I tried to execute 'ispell -a', but it returned:

...with no message after that.

In Apache's error log, I see:

/usr/bin/cat: invalid option -- a

...which makes no flipping sense, as nothing in SquirrelSpell tries to
call "cat" with an "-a" option.

I then add the line 'php_admin_flag safe_mode_exec_dir "/usr/bin"' to my
httpd.conf and restart Apache. I try using SquirrelSpell again. THIS time,
I see in my Apache error log:

sh: 0/cat: No such file or directory

...which ALSO makes no sense, as (A) nothing is trying to call "0/cat"
(where does it get the "0" from?!) and (B) it didn't seem to have trouble
finding cat before I set up safe_mode_exec_dir...

Please help. This is maddening. Thanks in advance.

[SM-USERS] Load Balancing and session side effect

2005-04-26 Thread Tuc at Beach House
Hi,

Trying to install from scratch a new Squirrelmail 1.4.4 and PHP
4.3.11 from FreeBSD ports. I'm also trying to do it behind a load balancer.
I've changed the session.save_path to a directory the two servers can see,
they are running lockd/statd... And I think I have it 99% working except I
get :

Warning: Unknown(): Your script possibly relies on a session
side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session
extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless
register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this
warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off,
respectively. in Unknown on line 0

I looked for any information about that I could, but I don't see
anything. Should I register_globals? Should I just turn it off? Is it trying
to tell me something more?

Also looking for anyone else who might have experience with this.

Thanks, Tuc

Is it possible to synchronize squirrelmail addressbook with ipaq and about.
assuming you are looking for vcard compatibility (exports/imports), the
answer is not yet, but that hopefully it will be coming in the

The plugins section of http://www.squirrelmail.org is a great resource
for extending functionality. From the 'Logging In' section --

Thank you.

However, it seems the multilogin plugin is for predefined servers on a
pull-down. I need something different, where the user can actually provide
the server address rather than being in a predefined list.

So hack it yourself. The change should not be significant.

  The information you have supplied really doesn't contain much we can
  go on. We need more data to be of any help. Things to start you
  off on might be:

1. time on server
2. time zone on server
3. time on client
4. time zone on client
5. plugins
