[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 465798] Please either rename "systemsettings" to "System Settings", or add that label to the component description

The Bugzilla product has to match the application name for drkonqi to work as
intended (i.e: what is set there
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/systemsettings/-/blob/master/app/main.cpp)

You can still use "Report a Bug" and change the component.
If you only want to search for bugs, you can use the advanced search
https://bugs.kde.org/query.cgi?format=advanced, select any product in the list
and type 'systemsettings' (fast enough).

2023-02-16 Thread Marco
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426412

This bug has been around since years, and it has become unbearable with multi
monitor setups. Anything that slightly affects compositing will make everything
unresponsive. I find myself disconnecting and reconnecting the external screen
at least twice a day to fix the stutter. This should have top priority. It
definitely destroys usability with multiscreen setups.

On Plasma remote input should work properly (both keyboard and mouse) with
Plasma 5.27 and KDE Connect 23.04 once both are released, which is bug 429173.

Sway (and wlroots based stuff in general) however currently lacks support for
the XDG remote desktop portal (see
https://github.com/emersion/xdg-desktop-portal-wlr/issues/2), which is what KDE
Connect 23.04 will use for remote input functionality, so I think that would
now be an upstream issue rather than a KDE Connect issue.

2. Select text
3. ctrl+c
4. open kate
5. ctrl+v

OBSERVED RESULT
On kate the only random symbols are pasted

EXPECTED RESULT
The selected text is pasted as I can read it.

Do you have xdg-user-dir installed ?
Did you use system-settings to change the Download folder path ?

I wonder if it is because of your distro.

Sorry Vlad I was probably in a bad mood from asking around on various
forums/discord channels and instead of helping, most people just said "use
wayland" so I suppose thought I'd nip that in the bud before I got that
response here too. I'll be more professional next time.

Glad to see the issue is resolved in the latest version!

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465603

--- Comment #17 from Aurora Robb Kristiansen ---
I haven't gotten time to try a fresh Plasma live environment yet, but while
using 5.26.90 I noticed that the same bug happens on my laptop which also runs
Arch. Still happens on 5.27 there too.

(In reply to Fushan Wen from comment #16)
> This looks like your system is mixing old and new libraries.

That's super odd, I'm trying to figure out how I might go about fixing that
because I've checked and all my libraries are up to date (Plasma, Frameworks,
Qt.) Furthermore I only have official repositories enabled.

I know this isn't an advice forum, but would you happen to have any idea what I
can try to prevent it from doing that?

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 465824] New: Unknown mime types are lost when saving application desktop file

2023-02-16 Thread Kai Uwe Broulik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465824

Bug ID: 465824
Summary: Unknown mime types are lost when saving application
desktop file
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Properties dialog
  Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@privat.broulik.de
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When editing the desktop entry for an application, upon saving any unknown mime
types (most notable x-scheme-handler) are lost because the properties dialog
only writes the ones from the tree widget back into the file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. "Edit applications" on an application in Kickoff which has scheme handlers
(e.g. browser, phone app etc)
2. Change working dir or name or something
3. Apply changes

OBSERVED RESULT
Resulting desktop file forgot the scheme handlers

EXPECTED RESULT
I didn't touch the mime types in the UI, so they shouldn't be altered

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: git master as of 2023-02-16

For sure, the closest one would be "House number [concatenated with] Street".
IPTC sublocation is larger than "House number [concatenated with] Street" since
it could also refer to places such as "eider peak" or "restaurant xxx". But if
I understand right, the need is to find a mapping gps --> sublocation, not
sublocation --> gps, so it should be right.

[digikam] [Bug 465832] New: Recognize faces don't run because "there are no identities to recognize"

2023-02-16 Thread mahikeulbody
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465832

Bug ID: 465832
Summary: Recognize faces don't run because "there are no
identities to recognize"
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 8.0.0
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Faces-Workflow
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mcfaro...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After a clean install of Digikam, it scans all items of my collection and load
all "people" face tags included in the files. At the end of the scan they are
all listed into People.
But then if I want to "Recognize faces", it says "There are no identities to
recognize". It seems the database of "face characteristics" (I don't know the
correct name) has not been fulfilled during the scan.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Clean install of Digikam (all related files deleted)
2. Run it with a collection including files with face metadata (mwg and
subject) and some files without face metadata (but with "known" faces)
3. Run a "Recognize faces"

OBSERVED RESULT
After step 2 : all face tags are created into People (it is right)
After step 3 : message "there are no identities to recognize" (I need to
re-train the face recognition for each faces)

EXPECTED RESULT
New occurrences of known faces (i.e. which exists into People) recognized.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am pretty sure there was no need to re-train the Face Recognition in the
previous version after the initial scan.

Bug ID: 465836
Summary: Multi-monitor broken when screen goes to sleep
Classification: Plasma
   Product: KScreen

  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

Ever since Plasma 5.25 my dual monitor setup has been broken. I have two
screens, one is 1080p (75 Hz) and the other is 1440p (144 Hz). My screens go to
sleep after 15 minutes but when that happens only my 1080p wakes up when I move
the mouse etc. Then my setup goes haywire and I have to set it up again. Before
5.25 everything worked fine and I haven't changed anything in my setup. This is
under X11 btw. Monitors are connected via DisplayPort, using a 1080 GTX Nvidia
card with latest stable driver.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Let dual monitor go to sleep
2. Wake them up
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Only one screen reactivates, other stays black.

EXPECTED RESULT
Both should wake up and retain desktop settings and widgets.

[systemsettings] [Bug 465837] New: Maliit/Virtual Keyboard has no GUI settings inside system settings application

2023-02-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465837

Bug ID: 465837
Summary: Maliit/Virtual Keyboard has no GUI settings inside
system settings application
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.26.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

Screenshot of virtual keyboard section of system settings application

SUMMARY

Maliit/Virtual Keyboard has no GUI settings inside system settings application.
I am using KDE on a touch screen ms surface device with no keyboard. The
included virtual keyboard has no way of handling keys such as Ctrl, Alt, Super,
Shift, Esc and Tab which makes it very hard to use Konsole application.
Secondly changing global themes do not effect the virtual keyboard at all, it
keeps using white theme even when using Breeze Dark.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch system settings application from kickoff button
2. Tap on input devices
3. Tap on virtual keyboard
4. Tap on Maliit

OBSERVED RESULT

Only the virtual keyboard can be enabled or disabled.

EXPECTED RESULT

Any button or options or any kind of UI to configure the Maliit/Virtual
keyboard.

[dolphin] [Bug 465838] New: Double separator line between tool area and view area (default color scheme breeze light)

double separator line vs. other kde apps

SUMMARY
Using the default color scheme breeze light, the upper (horizontal) border of
the dolphin view area is doubled up by the tool area separator line. This is
not consistent to other KDE apps (e.g. systemsettings, see attached
screenshot). From my personal point of view, this looks a bit cluttered.

Is there a possibility to solve this, e.g. to have only one separator line?
Or to remove the 1px distance between tool area separator line and the upper
view area border to make it less obvious?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use default theme breeze light
2. Open Dolphin
3. -

OBSERVED RESULT
Upper / horizontal border of the view area is doubled up by the tool area
separator line (see attached screenshot).

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be only one line, like in most Kirigami apps (see attached
screenshot).

[kwin] [Bug 460675] blurry screenshot under wayland with fractional scaling

(In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #3)

I think the situation is a bit frustrating even in 5.27, because I still can't
get a screenshot that looks the same as what is on screen.

My theory is the same as what Toby described initially, that screenshots by
Spectacle are way blurrier that on screen, not only because window content is
scaled down (from 2x), but it's *scaled down and up again*, creating artifacts
not present on screen.

Though I wonder whether this is caused by kwin sending blurry images to
Spectacle, or Spectacle mess up scaling stuff internally.

I will test it soon but don’t get too excited: This issue appeared only every
now and then on my PC recently, this means this needs a longer testing phase to
confirm it’s really fixed.

Dolphin window across screen border

I have two monitors side by side, the left one scaled at 200% and the right one
150%. This is what Spectacle takes after putting a Dolphin window at screen
border: left half is pixel sharp, but the right half is weirdly scaled. To the
eye, the right half roughly similar to the left half.

Using Plasma Wayland 5.27 on Arch Linux. GPU is AMD Radeon 680m (integrated
graphics), mesa 22.3.4-1.
