[Breeze] [Bug 432135] Window decorations faster unfocused when unfocused a window

2021-03-02 Thread Michael D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432135

It sort of works. I saved a copy of Breeze Light and changed the
normal/alternate header colors which at first worked. Then with some fiddling
of colors, unfocused windows started showing the original Breeze Light
alternate header color that nowhere to be found in the GUI and was not what I
had set. (I also changed window alternate.) Then it stopped showing the
titlebar color I had set and was instead using the window background color. I
suppose I should file a separate report about this.

Question: My current color scheme has a different color set for
normal/alternate header, but it seems not to do anything. Is there something
special about Breeze Light that's not exposed in the GUI?

I suppose the sections [Colors:Header] and [Colors:Header][Inactive] are new to
Breeze Light. Why aren't those added to older schemes when you change the
header settings in the GUI?

[frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 433842] New: Custom shortcut created in previous version don't work

2021-03-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433842

Bug ID: 433842
Summary: Custom shortcut created in previous version don't work
   Product: frameworks-kglobalaccel
   Version: 5.79.0
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: el...@seznam.cz
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I use Flameshot as screenshotting tool. In previous versions of
Plasma/Frameworks I created custom shortcuts using configuration file
https://github.com/flameshot-org/flameshot/blob/master/docs/shortcuts-config/flameshot-shortcuts-kde
. Now shortcuts don't work and I'm unable to change them. When I go to
settings, I see group "Custom Shortcuts Service" where I can see "Take
screenshot" with "Print" shortcut, but I can't see or change DBUS action.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Plasma 5.19
2. Import
https://github.com/flameshot-org/flameshot/blob/master/docs/shortcuts-config/flameshot-shortcuts-kde
3. Upgrade to Plasma 5.21.1

OBSERVED RESULT
Print shortcut does not work.

EXPECTED RESULT
Flameshot should be started.

"...or they are already installed" looks like a scary error

Trying to "Install Debug Symbols" leads me to the dialog in this screenshot,
and I can't make any progress towards actually using the Crash Reporting
Assistant to report the bug. It keeps bugging me to "click the Install Debug
Symbols button in order to automatically install the missing debugging
information packages", but clicking it leads to the error in the screenshot.

The "list of files" link shows this:

[digikam] [Bug 433822] DigiKam doesn't read extended (xattr) attributes

2021-03-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433822

Thank you for the replies...

> ... Baloo has brought us many bug reports with crashes
> over the years ...
I don't think I was using it in the bad years. Now, from my perspective, I
think "hat's off". It's an incredibly messy and challenging project.

My feeling here is that digiKam is reading/writing xattr on the filesystem, the
data you can see with "getfattr -d". Baloo reads this data, digiKam can read
and write this data. For this bit of the work it _seems_ the two are
independent.

> ... you can switch off reading of the rating tags in the
> advanced metadata settings ...
It could be that I've written changes done within digiKam back into the
embedded metadata, and digiKam is reading this info in preference to (modified)
extended attributes. I will check. I am happy to carry on troubleshooting

As an initial suggestion. If people see:

Read metadata from Baloo

there'll be an expectation that digiKam will try to read the info. Could there
be an option in the advanced settings, to show xattr as a source - and list
things like user.baloo.rating, user.xdg.tags etc explicitly, although by
default unchecked, at the bottom of the list?

Further on perhaps, if "Read metadata from Baloo" is selected, these options
could be checked

I forgot that I had reported this problem around 5 years ago.
See duplicate bugs 364567, 351723, and 343322.

The workaround: Un-maximize window, move splitter, restart Kdenlive -> Position
is remembered
Strange thing is: After I have used this workaround once, I can then also
reposition the splitter when the program is maximized and it is indeed
remembered afterwards!

[kdeconnect] [Bug 433845] New: KDE connect crashed after being unable to receive files

2021-03-02 Thread Dan Dascalescu

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ddascalescu+...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I was trying to send 257 file from my Huawei P30 Pro to the laptop. After
initiating the sending from the Android device, a receiving notification popped
up, but was stuck at file 1 (even though it was only ~300KB). Seeing as that
wasn't working, I right clicked the KDE Connect notification and chose "Browse
this device" (which BTW should be a prominent option in the app, but it's
absent). Then I was able to browse the DCIM/Camera directory and started
copying files that way.

At that point I clicked the stop icon in the receiving notification, since it
wasn't working anyway. KDE Connect crashed, and it took down with it the second
copying process, which was going on fine.

As usual (bug 433843), the automatic Crash Reporter failed to load symbols, so
here's the stack trace:

KDE Connect window vs. notification popup menu

The KDE Connect actions lack something obvious: browse the Android device. I
was surprised to not see that option listed in the KDE Connect window.

Somehow I clicked on the notification, then on the hamburger menu next to the
name of my device, and did find "Browse...". Pretty hidden. Is there a good
reason to not surface that in the main window?

Same for showing SMSes.

Also, "Ring my phone" - is that the same as "Find Device"?

Nit: the capitalization of the menu items is variable, "SMS Messages", vs.
"Ring my phone" vs. "Find Device".

Properly fix column count and inserting new columns on metadata load

Commit 74db33b1 tried to fix this but did this through always creating
an instance of SensorInfo. This means we never end up inserting new data
in onMetaDataChanged, which breaks the "ready" state of the model and
can lead to an invalid value being produced for the "UpdateInterval"
model role, which means we end up with incorrect chart update rates.

We now use sensorInfos for determining column count and whether or not
the model is ready, which should better reflect the state of the model.

moved the marker, moved a clip back and forth so I could save the project, and
restarted Kdenlive. Still the same behaviour.

This happens when the video in the Project Monitor is displayed, but I don't
see video playing. Though, this might just be too quick to see.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Load a project that has at least one video (with audio) clip on the timeline
2. Restart Kdenlive

OBSERVED RESULT
Sound of the video is heard.

EXPECTED RESULT
No sound.

It does work, but you need more times for it to go away. Initial scanning tries
to run around 100 commands or so (that depends on your configuration and number
of devices). That means you have to press Cancel that many time.
> - Trying to close the window itself also doesn't work
> - trying to close the auth window also doesn't work

As a more practical workaround sending SIGINT to partitionmanager process stops
it.

Appearance layout

It is good to group desktop customizations under one node, but there are some
problems with the new layout :

1) When I click on "Appearance" then "Global Theme" appears, so if I choose for
example "Colors" and I want to access again "Global Theme" ? what I need is to
click on the root node "Appearance" ! this seems really big issue of usability.

2) "Font Management" should accessible inside Font page to avoid having two
entries related to fonts under "Appearance" node.

3) Plus "Splash Screen", there is another annoying desktop customization that
changes when a theme is selected which is "Task Switcher", I don't know what
relation is between how desktop looks and how switching between windows should
be done.

In the attached image you will find a simple layout that can avoid those
usability problems.

The problem is clear, you are using MySQL and not MariaDB, I will fix it
tonight, but you will either have to start with a new database or copy the
existing one to a new one with the migration tool. We will not add another
MySQL update within the digiKam-7.2.0 test versions. We strongly recommend
using MariaDB instead of MySQL.

I would be fine using MariaDB, I just installed the rc over my existing
installation. So wasn't even aware there is the "option" of using MariaDB.
Also fine with starting with a complete new DB which I already tried to
accomplish but failed. But that's not a bug but rather a user problem as I just
couldn't find a way to have Digikam start with a clean DB. Just deleting/moving
the old DB leads to an error message, then digikam trying to connect to an DB
which won't happen and canceling the connecting dialog crashes digikam
completly.

To prevent unprintable characters like backspace a regex is used,

KRunner: Handle escape key in history view more gracefully

Instead of adding an unprintable character to the UI the history view is
closed and the text field it focused.

To prevent unprintable characters like backspace a regex is used,
just like we already do in the ResultsView Keys.onPressed slot.

[valgrind] [Bug 433857] New: Add validation to C++17 aligned new/delete alignment size

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

 Component: memcheck
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: pjfl...@wanadoo.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

According to

https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/memory/new/operator_new

a) these operators should only be called when the alignment is greater than
__STDCPP_DEFAULT_NEW_ALIGNMENT__ (the contrary would either mean a compiler bug
or an explicit call to the operator with an alignment that it too small)

b) "The behavior is undefined if this is not a valid alignment value "

c) I suppose that the alignment size passed to new should match that passed to
delete.

For point b) the wording of the C++ 17 standard is

"6.6.5 Alignment

4 Alignments are represented as values of the type std::size_t. Valid
alignments include only those values
returned by an alignof expression for the fundamental types plus an additional
implementation-defined set
of values, which may be empty. Every alignment value shall be a non-negative
integral power of two."

For point b) I suggest just checking that the alignment is a power of 2.

Point c) looks more complicated, and I'll look at that another time.

Currently new and delete are only considered for matching on whether they are
scalar or array operators.

We should also take alignment into consideration.

In practice, this is largely a theoretical issue as GCC libstdc++ and LLVM
libc++ the delete operators are simply implemented in in terms of the plain
delete. It is always possible for users to replace these operators and for the
replacements to rely on correct alignment values.

again after the dialog was closed for the first time. Using a new controller
works around that.

My guess is that the KIO system fails somehow because the file is so big. Can
you please follow the instructions [1] to get KIO debug output and report the
output after you try to open the file again? "GUI (Qt5/KF5 instructions)"
should be enough for a start.

I should like to add that other email clients, such as macOS' Mail appear to
remove background:white styles from the original email so as to make them
compatible with the client's native background.

[valgrind] [Bug 433863] New: s390x: memcheck/tests/s390x/{cds,cs,csg} failures

2021-03-02 Thread Mark Wielaard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433863

Bug ID: 433863
   Summary: s390x: memcheck/tests/s390x/{cds,cs,csg} failures
   Product: valgrind
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: m...@klomp.org
  Target Milestone: ---

After the fix for bug #429864 - s390x: C++ atomic test_and_set yields
false-positive memcheck diagnostics, the memcheck/tests/s390x/{cds,cs,csg}
started failing.

After the fix some issues (in these tests) can no longer be detected. It is
unclear if that can be fixed. So maybe these tests simply need to be deleted.

You need to install it. Alternatively, you can also run the "export

[Discover] [Bug 432691] Can't uninstall PackageKit apps

2021-03-02 Thread Fabian Vogt

Fabian Vogt changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Ever confirmed|0 |1
 Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED
 Resolution|DOWNSTREAM |---

Reopening: According to the PackageKit maintainer this is because discover uses
the wrong package ID for removal.

method call time=1614626927.297372 sender=:1.124 ->
destination=org.freedesktop.PackageKit serial=230 path=/1_ddbceacc;
interface=org.freedesktop.PackageKit.Transaction; member=RemovePackages
   uint64 4
   array [
  string
"kolourpaint;21.03.70git.20210227T162420~2f21b195-ku.13.1;x86_64;KUA"
   ]
   boolean true
   boolean false

This package ID refers to a package in the repo, which can be used for
installation and getting info, but not be removed. For removal, it has to use
the system package ID, which would be
"kolourpaint;21.03.70git.20210227T162420~2f21b195-ku.13.1;x86_64;installed" in
this case.

[Breeze] [Bug 433126] Inactive title bar elements in Breeze Light have the same color as active title bar elements

2021-03-02 Thread Vladislav Rubtsov
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433126

Vladislav Rubtsov changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||rubs...@gmail.com

The bug is most likely related to the color blending effects, which cannot be
edited by KColorSchemeEditor at this point.

By closely inspecting color theme files, I found out that "Breeze Light" now
uses the following settings not found in certain other themes:

[WM]
activeBlend=227,229,231
inactiveBlend=239,240,241

This is most likely responsible for incorrect coloring of the active title bar,
when user changes the color to non-default one.

I've been trying to manually edit Breeze Light color scheme, by saving a copy
of it then altering its file in '~/.kde/share/apps/color-schemes/', but to no
avail. It looks like KDE stores user-defined settings elsewhere and this is
just a dump/cache of it.

Any insight of how to properly edit KDE system settings by hand would be highly
appreciated.
It bugs me how KDE internals are not documented at all, nor they are easy to
work with, since something as simple as manually editing one line of a color
theme has no apparent workaround.
