YEs, i see. This due to the NSIS component (dll) dedicated to check if program
to install is not yet running in memory. I will check to find another way to
process this check and generate a new beta installer.

It crash in Qt without debug symbols. It's imposible to investiguate. I suspect
a broken binary compatibility with your system packages.

Please download 5.7.0 official Linux AppImage that we provide and check if the
problem is reproducible. If no, report this problem as UPSTREAM to Suse team.

ive tried the same script in xterm, and it works fine.
So this is definately a konsole issue.

I have fonts set to 120dpi, not sure if this would cause some issue like this?
But I do have this same issue on every other kde machine I have around the
house

[plasmashell] [Bug 360212] Icon positions in folder view of the desktop are often scrambled after reboot or logout

2017-10-09 Thread Pasha
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360212

Hello everybody,

I upgraded from 5.8 to 5.10 yesterday, but got no improvement.
I already asked which debug info should I provide, but there was no
hint/answer.
Here classic Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does not work, but also logoff-logon doesn't.
I can also confirm that, since KDE2 to KDE4 I never encountered such a problem.
Also, when you open your workspace and those icons you carefully ordered last
time are all messed up, it is not a "beautiful feeling".

My sensation is that our friend Eike has no real interest in squashing this
annoying bug. Can you confirm this Eike, or are you finally willing to
cooperate with us to show the opposite?
Thanks

In kaddressbook I used to create a tree of contact folders. I cannot do that
anymore with version 5.6.1 (Kde Applications 17.08.1 compiled from sources in
Debian testing).

Steps.

1. Create a new empty user
2. In kaddressbook right-click in Personal Contacts
3. Select Add Address Book folder...
4. Add the name of the new subfolder

I get a complaint:

Could not create address book folder: Unable to append mimetype for collection
as resourceId: 4

while I expect to create a new subfolder of Personal Contacts

Hi Gilles,

I can remember the desire of a user that we should allow writing to DNG files.
Ih would suggest that we make a white list and allow only DNG, NEF and CR2 at
the moment. With a hint in the GUI.

[plasmashell] [Bug 385512] New: Plasmashell crashes

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

Qt Version: 5.9.1
Frameworks Version: 5.38.0
Operating System: Linux 4.13.4-1-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
RPM update using update applet. After the update finishes successfully the
system checks the available updates again and at that time the plasmashell
crashes. This happens typically after large amount of packages updated. It does
not happen when updating for example statistical software R packages only. I
also tried the update check after plasmashell restarted and it does not produce
crash. Update through Yast does not result into error either. Hopefully I got
all the necessary debug packages installed so that the problem can be found
out.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

libsmbclient reported an error, but did not specify what the problem is. This
might indicate a severe problem with your network - but also might indicate a
problem with libsmbclient.
If you want to help us, please provide a tcpdump of the network interface while
you try to browse (be aware that it might contain private data, so do not post
it if you are unsure about that - you can send it privately to the developers
if they ask for it)"

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385251

to be clear - the panel completely locks up. Fortunately , alt-tab can expose a
terminal to run the commands. I assumed that was obvious due to the excessive
(4GB!) memory use.

Callgrind slows the execution such, I waited until after the shell get's
started to get an instrumentation sample. Fortunately, plasmashell can be
restarted frequently without interrupting my work...

[kwin] [Bug 381444] Stuttering when compositing is on

2017-10-09 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381444

haagch.christ...@googlemail.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED
 Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME

--- Comment #6 from haagch.christ...@googlemail.com ---
Just got a new monitor (again 1920x1080@60Hz) and booted with a fresh
mesa/xf86-video-amdgpu git + agd5f/drm-next-4.15-dc stack after not trying for
a while and I'm happy to say that I can not reproduce it. With kwin compositing
enabled, glxgears in fullscreen runs very smooth now.

One thought comes to mind looking at xrandr:
1920x1080 60.00*+ 50.0059.94
Maybe there were some timing issues when the exact refresh rate wasn't 60Hz?
I tried with
xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 59.94
but glxgears is still smooth, but maybe that's not the case for all "slightly
off" refresh rates?

It bugs me that compton did not have this issue with the same ext_buffer_age
synchronisation method, so it must be something kwin did/does...

Thanks for reporting your issue, however print-manager is only a front-end to
CUPS, which does your printing. Although you are using proprietary drivers you
are more likely to get help from them.
Since printing worked for you on older versions of Ubuntu, you can check which
CUPS version worked and which stopped which might help them to help you :)

Best.

[krita] [Bug 385519] New: Color change, using ANGLE renderer

2017-10-09 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385519

Bug ID: 385519
Summary: Color change, using ANGLE renderer
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.3.0
  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Color models
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

Created attachment 108242
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=108242&action=edit
Example image

Hello guys, I realized that when I change Krita's renderer form Open GL to
Angle, the color interpretation is different. For example if I choose a red
color on the selector, at the moment I paint it turns blue, and viceversa.

I´m using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, on a Mac Book Pro Late 2013(through
Parallels):

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB

Kate tabs

Kate's tabs don't respect the active theme and therefore don't match the visual
appearance of most other tabs in KDE software. Instead, their appearance seems
hardcoded, with the current tab only being marked by a thin blue line at the
bottom, like tabs in the GNOME Adwaita theme.

See attached screenshots.

Interesting, doesn't Parallels utilize a virtual machine to run Windows? It
could be a bug with Parallels's Direct3D 10/11 driver.

Can you provide the output from "Help"->"Show system information for bug

@Julian: Note: You can change the command-line arguments used to parse code
inside KDevelop via Project -> Open Configuration -> Language Support -> C/C++
Parser -> C++ Profile.

Try to remove or overwrite -Wall there.

Also note: Due to the way KDevelop interacts with libclang (in-process) it will
inherently crash if libclang causes a segfault. That's not easy to solve or
work-around unfortunately.

Thanks for reporting the bug upstream!

UI input: kinfocenter -> graphical Information -> X-Server

Alternate selection of both and crash occurs within 5 clicks.

On the console I see several messages of this nature that I'm not sure are
related:

This has been around for a while I just never had debugging enabled os a bug
report would have been useless. It seems like it works the first time OpenGL is
selected and maybe a second time but thats all the chances you get. Yeah wierd
for someone to click back and forth but with GLX and EGL in mesa it is annoying
to not know what backend is selected. My panel is not rendered properly so I
took it out on kinfocenter :)

[kio] [Bug 339752] enable max protocol SMB3

slartibar...@gmail.com changed:

 CC||slartibar...@gmail.com

Hi,
i'm using latest fedora26, kio 5.38 (testing repo).
Problem is, all windows machines can be accessed by smbclient, depending on the
settings in /etc/samba/smb.conf with different results (smb2, smb3 etc)
So, this works as expected.

Trying the settings with a .smb/smb.conf does not work, in my opinion this file
is not taken into account. Maybe the naming is incorrect? (.samba instead of
.smb???)

Then, kio-slaves do access windows machines if win10 is used. kio refuses to
connect if win7+security patches (NT1 is banned) is in place.
Here, i do not have any control over the protocol being used with the
modifications in /etc/samba/smb.conf. Testing was done with dolphin and
krusader with identical results.

Not a long time ago, this was working (fedora26, approx. by the time the 4.12
kernel was distributed)

I would appreciate this being fixed instead of hoping (comment #7) that this
will disappear by itself ... :-

[partitionmanager] [Bug 385524] New: Meaning of "Recreate existing file system" is unclear

2017-10-09 Thread Jonathan Wakely
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385524

Bug ID: 385524
Summary: Meaning of "Recreate existing file system" is unclear
   Product: partitionmanager
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor

  Assignee: andr...@stikonas.eu

  Target Milestone: ---

I'm using kde-partitionmanager-3.1.2-1.fc26.x86_64 but I can't choose 3.1 in
the Version field of this Bugzilla.

The label isn't really clear about exactly what the checkbox does, and
"recreate" doesn't necessarily mean "reformat". This has confused at least one
person before (see Bug 249818 which comes up in a web search for the label
text).

It is possible to interpret "recreate existing file system" to mean the
existing data is somehow preserved, which is definitely wrong.

The '?' help button in the window decorations doesn't have any info on the
checkbox. The handbook isn't very illuminating either (although does at least
say it destroys all existing data).

Would it be possible to improve the handbook, and add a help button entry?

It should make it clear that it formats the filesystem (N.B. it's "filesystem"
not "file system") i.e. creates a new filesystem of the same type, which
destroys existing data. If this is just done using mkfs.* then it might even be
useful to say something like "this is typically done using a mkfs command".

Hmm, do you think the label itself should be changed too? Like "Reformat

Any suggestions for help entries?

Typically it is indeed done using mkfs command.

The location bar, which can be found above Dolphin's view, displays the path to
the current folder, when this is in "Editable Mode" you can drag the folder
icon to the "Places Panel" to achieve what you require.

Yes, I think saying reformat is clearer, but it would be fine if the help entry
just said "This will reformat the filesystem, losing all data, but keeping the
same filesystem type and options".

I see that once you select the checkbox you get a helpful dialog that warns you
it will destroy data, which is good (I'm not sure why I didn't see that last
time).

I can produce a backtrace eventually, but it will be a while before I get back
to the laptop where the problem occurred. I'll check tonight on my own laptop
and see if the same crash happens there.

This is a first foray back into Linux for me after a gap of a few years, so
please don't expect any kind of expertise.

The version of Discover is whatever is packaged with the 64-bit Kubuntu 17.04
download (from https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/ ) -- I'll look and send an
update tonight.

I used the Universal Installer recommended here --

https://www.pendrivelinux.com/put-kubuntu-10-04-on-a-flash-drive-using-windows/

to put a Live CD-equivalent copy of Kubuntu on a USB drive. It seemed to work
fine. After a reboot, Kubuntu was running on the laptop with no apparent
errors.

I immediately tried to use Discover to look at what software packages are
available. I didn't have a mouse-with-wheel plugged in, so I tried the down
arrow key as an alternative to scrolling with the track pad. This worked fine
in some categories. But in the Games and Graphics categories, Discover
immediately crashed.

I've done absolutely nothing else with Kubuntu yet.

I also use Kubuntu 17.04 as my primary OS. Unfortunately the version of
Discover packaged with Kubnutu 17.04 is super rough and buggy. Frankly it's not
worth using at all, and most of the bugs you're likely to encounter have
already been fixed in newer versions that aren't available directly in Kubuntu
17.04 yet.

If you're feeling a bit adventurous, you can update to newer versions of KDE
software (which includes Discover) by adding the backports PPA to your system:
https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ubuntu/backports

Executing the following commands should do it:
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
  sudo apt update

Then you can do the following to update to a newer version of Discover
  sudo apt install plasma-discover

[partitionmanager] [Bug 385525] New: Entering root password doesn't grant root privs, when launched from kicker

2017-10-09 Thread Jonathan Wakely
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385525

Bug ID: 385525
Summary: Entering root password doesn't grant root privs, when
launched from kicker
   Product: partitionmanager
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: andr...@stikonas.eu
  Reporter: zi...@kayari.org
  Target Milestone: ---

kde-partitionmanager-3.1.2-1.fc26.x86_64

If I run KPM from the kicker menu as a normal user and enter the root password
when prompted, it doesn't get root privs.

I start paritionmanager form the kicker menu, which creates a prompt:

The action you requested needs root privileges. Please enter root's password
below, or click Ignore to continue with your current privileges.

  Command: KDE_FULL_SESSION=true XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1001
  DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:path=/run/user/1001/bus partitionmanager
  --dontsu

After entering the root password (and clicking OK, or pressing Enter) I get
another prompt, saying "Warning: You do not have adminstrative privileges. It
is possible to run KDE Partition Manager without these privileges. You will,
however, ..."

i.e. it makes no difference whether I enter the root password or choose
"Ignore", it always proceeds without root privs. If I choose to continue then I
get a crash that drkonqi tells me is a dup of Bug 383636. But I don't really
want to continue without root privs, I want entering the password to work.

If I run partitionmanager from the terminal, as a normal user, I get prompted
for the root password and it works properly, starting the application with root
privs. So the problem is only when run from the kicker menu.

When the prompt for the root password appears, the journal shows:

display ":0"

test mail not showing html

I just updated to git master (previous version was from about 2-3 weeks ago).
Now multipart/alternative mails no longer show the HTML content.
In fact no body is shown at all and kmail says in the side-bar label "No HTML
Message"

Example mail attached.

[partitionmanager] [Bug 385525] Entering root password doesn't grant root privs, when launched from kicker

2017-10-09 Thread Andrius Štikonas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385525

Hmm, not sure what is hapenning. Is your kdesu configured to use su or sudo?

In principle we want to move away from running KPM as root. kdesu is obsolete.
But porting to KAuth/Polkit will take time, as quite a lot of refactoring is
needed (e.g. need to port away from libparted). Once KPM runs rootless, this
should resolve anyway...

[krita] [Bug 385519] Colors are displayed inverted when using ANGLE

2017-10-09 Thread Alvin Wong
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385519

The info does point towards the Parallels D3D driver, but I'm not certain. It
could also be an issue with the version of ANGLE that Qt 5.9.1 uses. (And
unlikely but still possible that I might've missed something when I wrote the
code...) Theoretically I can compile a test program to get a bit more data and
report a bug to upstream, but I don't have the energy for that now.

There is another report of this issue, but I haven't got any info on their
system, could be the same case.

[partitionmanager] [Bug 385525] Entering root password doesn't grant root privs, when launched from kicker

2017-10-09 Thread Jonathan Wakely
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385525

(In reply to Andrius Štikonas from comment #1)
> Hmm, not sure what is hapenning. Is your kdesu configured to use su or sudo?

I have no idea.

I have no ~/.config/kdesurc file. I used kwriteconfig5 to tell it to use sudo,
and tried to start partitionmanager from kicker again. This time when I entered
my root password and pressed enter the dialog froze, and I had to kill it!
(Close the window, then confirm I wanted to terminate the non-responsive
application).

If I change back to using 'su' I get the original behaviour. So it looks like
using 'sudo' doesn't work either, but fails differently (I guess I need to edit
sudoers to allow it? but it shouldn't just hang).

The current FF 57 shows literally no significant feedback anymore, when a
