[kwin] [Bug 361154] Running native OpenGL games - with compositing enabled - breaks X11 Plasma 5.6.0 Window Decorations

2016-04-11 Thread Thomas Lübking via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361154

What really puzzles me is the nature of this bug.

Apparently it's required to start "a game™" which in turn suspends the
compositor and then there're artifacts (aka "invalid textures") in 3rd
processes and bug #361534 describes "black borders" around even uncomposited
windows (falsely mapped shadow windows?)

Just suspending the compositor or auto-suspending it along "not games"
apparently doesn't cause this.

> This bug becomes more annoying when you are using cairo-dock and try to use
> opengl applications like Unreal Engine or UInity 3D.
> Cairo dock is using opengl and everything gets disable and the only thing you
> can see from the dock is a Black Square Dock

a) does cairo-dock turn black when simply suspending the compositor?
b) does the problem exist when suspending the compositor explicitly and then
running the desired game?
c) does it exist when applying a kwin rule to not autosuspend compositing for
the games? (you can create a blind rule that matches every window to avoid
detection of the games)

So you picked xrender deliberately?

Did you configure the effect from the effects kcm or the virtual desktop kcm?

rock stable for me with plasma 5.5.5 and qt 5.5 and I cannot reproduce this

[krita] [Bug 361619] New: Input event lag/drop-out when OpenGL is ON with large window

2016-04-11 Thread Tyson Tan via KDE Bugzilla

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major

 Component: OpenGL Canvas
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tyson...@mail.com

In Krita 3.0 Alpha (Krita-3.0-Alpha-master-e5109c2-x86_64.AppImage), when
OpenGL is ON and Krita's window is large -- 1920x1080 maximized window, or a
windows that is almost that big but not maximized, I can notice input lag from
my graphics tablet and mouse. Some curves I drew even has straight line
sessions in them, probably due to event drop-out.

When Krita's window is smaller -- around 1280x800 or 960x1080, the lagging
seems to be much less noticeable. When OpenGL is OFF, the lag didn't happen at
all.

I will upload screenshots and tablet logs for each testcase.

Reproducible: Always

[systemsettings] [Bug 361620] New: Allow to set the keyboard layout and model combo

2016-04-11 Thread Paulo Fidalgo via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 361620
Summary: Allow to set the keyboard layout and model combo
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.5.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_keyboard_layout
  Assignee: ary...@gmail.com
  Reporter: paulo.fidalgo...@gmail.com

Hi!

Currently in my setup I use a laptop and an external keyboard. The laptop is a
Macbook Pro with a PT layout and a GB layout external keyboard.

The problem is the model is different and also the number of keys and some key
positions, so every time I need to change the keyboard layout I also need to
change the model.

So the ideal situation would be to set the model and layout (or layouts) used
based on keyboard model. I imagine that every time we connect a new keyboard we
would configure both the model and available layouts (when you want to use
different layouts on the same keyboard.)

Would this make sense to anyone else?

Reproducible: Always

Otherwise: please run kwin_x11 from a console and get the debug output from

kdeinit5, kscreen_backend_launcher, kwin_x11, xembedsniproxy, and a bunch of
other programs keep writing massive amounts of verbose messages into the
syslog, making it pretty much impossible to find any meaningful messages in
there.

On kde4, these messages were all logged on stderr, which means they ended up in
the user's .xsession-errors instead of the global system log. IMO, the user's
homedir is where they belong, since all those messages are only ever relevant
to the user running the plasma/kde session, and moreover, most systems I have
worked with do not grant access to system logs to regular users.

[tellico] [Bug 361622] New: Tellico ("Video Collection") crashes if there is a blank line in "Cast"

2016-04-11 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361622

Bug ID: 361622
Summary: Tellico ("Video Collection") crashes if there is a
blank line in "Cast"
   Product: tellico
   Version: 2.3.9
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ro...@periapsis.org
  Reporter: ejr2...@mybtinternet.com

Created attachment 98335
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=98335&action=edit
Example database used, 3 screen-shots and crash report

Version: 2.3.9 4.14.15, Kubuntu packages
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 4.2.0-35-generic
Compiler: x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc

Hi,

As this is the first bug I am reporting for Tellico, please let me first say
it's a great program - I use it to manage my video collection and I really like
it. I find it really fast and really flexible (I've added more fields and
developed, based on the example provided, my own IMDb interface plugin in
Python to retrieve data from IMDb and populate those extra fields). Thank you
for developing Tellico and making it available!

I am using Tellico as retrieved from the Kubuntu packages (as per above), I
haven't compiled my own version.

The following bug should be easily reproducible. It happens to me me every
single time.

Whenever there is a blank line in the list of "Cast" (in the middle of the
list, not at the end) for a Video Collection, the programme crashes upon saving
the entry.

Step 1 - Create an entry, create a list of "Cast" (see example attached)
Step 2 - Delete the data for a line in the middle (not at the end) of the list
of "Cast", to create a blank line; that's deleting the data without using Right
Click > Remove Row (see screen-shot attached)
Step 3 - Click on "Save Entry" - the programme crashes! (see screen-shot and
"Developer information" attached)

This happens to me when I want to re-order the rows on the "Cast" list - I
would "Insert Row", then cut-and-paste data from a row into the new one, and
sometimes I forget to "Remove Row" for the old (now empty) row. It is an issue
as it may mean losing all the modifications made since the last "Save".

I don't believe the program should crash, ever, even if the user does something
wrong. Suggested fixes:
1 - Find a way to save the data as-is, so that when the user saves and re-opens
the video entry, the data is as I saved it, i.e. with an empty row on the
"Cast" list
2 - Ignore the empty row, so that when the user saves and re-opens the video
entry, if there was, say, 1 row + 1 empty row + 1 row, there are only two rows
left, with the empty row having disappeared altogether
3 - Don't save the entry, and display an error message, e.g. "Can't save at
this time as there is an empty row on 'Cast' list"
Personally, I would be very happy with solution 1 or 2 (indifferently) and
would find solution 3 acceptable.

I'm marking this one as fixed in 16.04...
We don't have anymore the "Error opening archive" messagebox (a message widget
in the main window will be displayed instead), so I can't reproduce the crash
on the 16.04 branch.

(Even the dbus command doesn't work anymore, I get a "No such object path
'/ark/MainWindow_1/actions/file_quit'" error).

Given that Ubuntu 16.04 is near, it doesn't make sense anymore to investigate a
crash on such an old LTS release.

Please reopen if you manage to reproduce it on a newer Ark release.

   Version: 5.6.2
  Platform: Chakra
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: mklape...@kde.org
  Reporter: i...@cyrilbrosch.net
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

As it should do, kdeconnect notifies me of new e-mail my Android gmail app
receives.
But as it cites the whole message text, the notifications can get very long,
and in fact they sometimes are longer than there is vertical space on my
screen. I attach a screen shot.
In such case the close button is somewhere above my screen and not reachable. I
can't close the notifcation (clicking them once closed them, but this behavior
was recently changed) and I have to wait until it dissapears from itself.

Of course I could file a bug report against kdeconnect (crop you
notifcations!), but I think the right place for this to be fixed is Plasma, as
it may concern also other applications.

So, please make sure that notifications never grows higher than the screen is
high or give another possibility to close them, e.g. via right-click option.

Reproducible: Always

[tellico] [Bug 361625] New: Tellico ("Video Collection") - Date field filter bugs

2016-04-11 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361625

Bug ID: 361625
Summary: Tellico ("Video Collection") - Date field filter bugs
   Product: tellico
   Version: 2.3.9
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ro...@periapsis.org
  Reporter: ejr2...@mybtinternet.com

Created attachment 98337
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=98337&action=edit
Example database and screen-shots

Version: 2.3.9 4.14.15, Kubuntu packages
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 4.2.0-35-generic
Compiler: x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc

Hi,

I am reporting here two bugs in relation to filtering on "Date" fields in a
Video Collection. I believe they are unrelated, but who knows, maybe they are.

Please see example database attached (but they are easily reproducible - you
should be able to get the same behaviour if you create your own database).

I have added an additional "custom" date field, which I've called "My Date"
(through Collection > Collection Fields). This could be used for instance for
"Last time movie was watched" or "Date when DVD purchased" or whatever...
I am making the distinction below between this "custom date" field, and
"standard date" fields, such as "Date Created" and "Date Modified".
I have created two entries (one would suffice, actually - there is no need for
two entries to see the bugs) both with "My Date" = 2016-01-02 (2nd Jan 2016)
and "Date Created" = 2016-04-11 (11th Apr 2016)
I have also created 5 filters:
- "After" - Filter on "My Date" "is after" 01/01/2016
- "Before" - Filter on "My Date" "is before" "01/01/2017"
- "Created-After" - Filter on "Date Created" "is after" 01/01/2016
- "Created-Before" - Filter on "Date Created" "is before" "01/01/2017"
- "Equals" - Filter of "My Date" "equals" "02/01/2016" (2nd Jan 2016)
Please note that, based on the data above, all 5 filters should find 2 matching
records.

BUG #1:
---
You can check that the filters have been created as described above (with the
criterion being "is after" or "is before" as described) in the xml file
provided. You may also want to create your own filters to double-check.
Regardless of the filter, whenever I double-click on it (or Right-Click >
Modify Filter), the window that opens shows the criterion as "equals" and not
"is before" or "is after" as the filter was created. Please see attached
screen-shot for filter "After".
This is true for all four "before" or "after" filters.

BUG #2:
---
The three filters "Created-After", "Created-Before" and "Equals" work correctly
- all three correctly find two matching records.
The two filters "After" and "Before" (which filter based on the "custom date")
do not work correctly. They fail to find the two records that should match the
criterion ("My Date" being before or after the set date - in both cases, the
criterion should be met). Please see attached screen-shot.
I am therefore led to believe this bug affects only "custom" (not "standard")
date fields, and only when the criterion is "is before" or "is after".

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 361626] New: Long-clicking plasmoids to display the handle is non-intuitive with mouse input

2016-04-11 Thread Michal Petrucha via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 361626
Summary: Long-clicking plasmoids to display the handle is

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: libplasma

  Reporter: michal.petru...@kde.konk.org

Long-clicking is in general not something that you do with a mouse, and it only
makes sense with touch-based input. Therefore resizing plasmoids with a mouse,
which requires opening the handle containing the resize button, is very hard to
figure out.

With a mouse pointer, the behavior from plasma4, where the handle is shown when
hovering over the plasmoid, makes a lot more sense.

Minor input as I directed the user here, due to this coming up frequently
enough in #kde on IRC:

One possibility would be to at least add an entry to the context menu which
opens that side bar or have a submenu with the possibilities of the side bar
(move, resize, rotate, close).
Opening the context menu is rather intuitive and well known on desktop systems.

Kind regards,

[plasmashell] [Bug 361629] New: No feedback when clicking on clipboard history item

2016-04-11 Thread Alexander Potashev via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361629

Bug ID: 361629
Summary: No feedback when clicking on clipboard history item
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.5.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: aspotas...@gmail.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org

See Steps to Reproduce below.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select some text in a GUI application window (using Xorg server).
2. Open Clipboard Plasma widget popup by clicking Clipboard icon in the system
tray.
3. Click on the clipboard history item containing the text you just copied.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens, visually

Expected Results:
One of these:
 1. Close the Clipboard widget popup (this would be the same behaviour as with
Klipper from KDE SC 4.x). By closing the popup, you make the user believe that
an action [of changing text in clipboard] is performed.
 2. Visualize copying in another way: showing a popup/tooltip, highlighing the
history item, etc.

I consider this as a regression w.r.t. KDE SC 4.x's Klipper.

2016-04-11 Thread Martin Gräßlin via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360841

That's as I expected. The keyboard grab seems to fail, that's why neither the
shortcut nor the filter works.

Please activate the effect, switch to a virtual terminal, log in and run:
export DISPLAY=:0
xdotool key "XF86LogGrabInfo"

switch back to the graphical environment, and look into /var/log/Xorg.0.log -
it should contain information about which process has a keyboard grab.

use a random zoom ( eg. 43%, 36%).

[plasmashell] [Bug 361634] New: Graphic errors for previews in Folder View applet

2016-04-11 Thread Giuseppe Calà via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361634

Bug ID: 361634
Summary: Graphic errors for previews in Folder View applet
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.6.2
  Platform: Chakra
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Folder
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: jive...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

The problem regards "folder view" plasmoid when enabling preview for its
content: the resulting image is very aliased and with wrong aspect ratio. Seems
that thumbnails are resized to match a square, regardless original image is
landscape or portrait.

Here what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/8vqcSTp.png
on the left "folder view" while on the right dolphin showing the same content

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add a "folder view" to desktop
2. Select as source a folder containing, f.i., images or videos
3. Enable a preview engine

Actual Results:
Thumbnail preview is scaled to match a square and the resulting image is
aliased and distorted

Expected Results:
A thumbnail with correct aspect ratio and smooth

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on "Choose Workspace", select a workspace and delete it
2. Restart Krita
3. Click on "Choose Workspace" again, and see that the deleted workspace has
returned

Hi Robbie,

Thank you very much for the prompt turn-around.

I have now downloaded the code for version 2.3.11 and compiled it on my laptop
(only version 2.3.9 seems to be available from the Kubuntu repository for some
reason).

I confirm that Bug #1 above ("is after" and "is before" criteria replaced by
"equals" when modifying a filter) is fixed in this version.

However. Bug #2 ("is before" or "is after" filter on "custom", non-standard,
date fields not working) does not seem to be fixed. Please see new attached
screen-shot Bug_Dates-3.png
Both "Before" and "After" filters should return 2 entries, whereas they seem to
find none.

please run "sleep 20; qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation >
kwin.support.info" and trigger the dysfunctional effect (DG or PW) within the
next 20 seconds, wait until the timeout hit (so you'll have gotten the debug
info), maybe ensure that the effect (notably filtering) really didn't work and
then attach the gathered information.

KWin might hold the grab, but some other effect (or the tabbox???) could
receive it.

It's enforced GLES ...

@FabiB, check the outputs of
  ldd /usr/lib/libQt5Core.so.5
and
  ldd `which kwin_x11`

If they say something like libGLX.so and or libEGL or libGL.so, afaik that
won't work, because you cannot intermix a Qt5 libGL build with libGLES.
