[gentoo-user] phppgadmin 3.5.1 doesn't recognize login
hi guys, I have phppgadmin 3.5.1 and ti doesn't recognize my password in any way. I've looked at config.inc.php and the file is OK. I also tried to disable extra security but I can't connect even with postgres what should works. If I try to connect by psql I get no problem, or even if I try to access my website everithing works like a charm. What could be happen with phppgadmin ? may it's bugged? [gentoo-user] courier-imapd have to be restarted to much time
Hi, I've installed postfix to work with my domain using vmail with courier imap (I've followed gentoo guide) and it was working fine until today. Now I have some users (including me) that can't get new messages 'cause the mail software (thunderbird) keep tring to connect to the server and doesn't get any messages. I did ssh at the server and saw that the new messages are at the user .maildir. I also give a look at /var/log/messages and when I try to get my mails, my connection trying is not registered at the logs. If I try users try to send a mail, these mail are sent without a problem. So I give a try to restart courier-imapd and I could get my messages again but 30 minutes later the problem turn back but a little bit differente, 'cause this time the users can't read the messages, but all the users can see the list of messages, so I have to restart courier-imapd again. At the logs I get no warning or error messages. I'm freaking out with this problem and I thinking if I could redirect the messages delivered to my domain to a local network server (today the mail server is hosted in a hosting company with my web and dns server). Tks in any advice, Claudinei Matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-user] courier-imapd have to be restarted to much time
I was looking at this parameter when I got your mail. Actually it was specified a limit of 4 connections. I tried to setup to 0 ( I mean it could be no limit) but doesn't work, so for a test I did setup it to 30 connections and did some tests, and I saw that each folder that I try to open in thunderbird open a new connection at the server. So if I have 10 users trying to see his email and 5 of they try to open 2 folders at the same time I will have 20 connections on the server. Is that correct? Now I'm really thinking in bring this mail server to my local network but my connection here is a adsl with dynamic IP and just 'cause of it that I let postfix at my hosting server. I thinking if I could turn my local network like the main mail server assigning his dyndns hostname to the prior MX record and turning the hosting server into a MX backup just for a case my adsl get down. Is that configuration possible? [gentoo-user] courier-imapd with a proxy/backup server ?
Yeah, I saw that the problem is ocurring 'cause all the users share the same ip which one is the ip of the internet gateway. Anyway, with the new limit of connections everybody can retrieve mail but some users are annoying me about the speed to access the server. What I want is that the messages that arrive at my MAIN (the one at the hoster) server could be redirected to my proxy/backup server (the one at my local network) or if it could be, that the proxy/backup connect to the main server to catch all the accounts messages. I know I culd just use my local server as my MAIN MX but the problem is that this server is connected to internet by a adsl not confiable and with dynamic ip link. So I was thinking if I could setup this local server as my primary MX with his dyndns hostname and put the "old main" server as the backup MX, just in the case adsl link get down. I've also got a quick look at http://www.courier-mta.org/imap/?README.proxy.html and I saw that I can setup a proxy server to my users, but I don't know if that could be a solution too. Any advices would be appreciated. Tks, Claudinei Matos On 5/16/05, Jonathan Nichols <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Claudinei Matos wrote: > > I was looking at this parameter when I got your mail. [gentoo-user] thunderbird can't open web links on KDE
Hi guys, I have some users using Thunderbird in KDE instead of KMAIl. Well, the problem is that Thunderbird doesn't open any link that comes in the mail message. I've tryed to setup KDE default programs for browser and mail respectively to thunderbird and firefox but even with that changes (I did restared KDE) I still can't open the links on the message. That's stranger 'cause I have thunderbird + firefox installed at my machine but I use gnome, fluxbox and xfce (sorry but I really don't like KDE) and at my machine thunderbird works fine, opening all links at firefox. I did looked at the useflags of thunderbir to see if theres something I forget to enable but it's not. Did someone have any idea about? [gentoo-user] mailman: how to approve messages by automated script or how to just allow autopost from address and ip?
Hey guys, I have a list at mailman with all my clients. I've specified that all posts to the list are moderated. That works fine but I always have to approve the messages by admin interface. The situation is that I have a address that I want to trust to post to the list without moderation but I can't just allow that email 'cause anyone that post using this email address and so send whatever he want to my list. I'm wondering if is there a way to create some really trusted process like verifing the email and even the IP of the sender. Could this be possible? Other possibility I think is to create a shell script that verify the post and send it automatically by verifiying some "string" at the message code. Well, I give a try to understand the mailman process but I didn't found a way to implement the possible "shell script" solution, so I really don't know how to solve my problem. Did someone implemented such a thing? Tks in advice, Claudinei Matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list

[gentoo-user] esd or arts, sound daemon howto
hi, I have 2 box with gentoo, one at my home and other at work. well, the one of home have alsa drivers for sound and I used gnome as desktop for a while. I always was able to listen sound from a lot of softwares at same time and didn't needed to do any manual configuration to this. At my work machine I have installed gnome and some parts of kde but I preferer to use xfce instead. Since I've installed this system I never could get 2 or more softwares at the same time 'cause the second instance can't access dsp device. I did setup alsa correctly and even that never works. Some days ago I was installing skype at home and had to work with somethings about esd and arts. Coming to my job I did get a try to use start esd at shell prompt and suddenly I could run a lot of xmms instances and listen to all they at the same time. Well, now I know that if I want to run 2 or more softwares at same time I have to use esd or arts but I don't want to start it manually all the time so I want to know if is there some place to setup arts, esd or even other sound daemon? tks in advice claudinei matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list

I did a test killing all process of esd and arts and trying to play more than one instance of music playing and that's works very well with Audigy but don't with nForce2 onboard audio. An other thing that I've noticed is that skype just work without arts or esd, so I've to run "skype oss" to be able to use it (at my home machine, since I don't use skype at job yet). I think that at home I do not need any of this daemons but at my job I will give dmix a try, so I have to ask you if even with dmix I'll need to use arts and/or esd? Tks in advice. [gentoo-user] mod_log_sql can't connect do db and can't write to file
Hi, I did installed mod_log_sql and and setup the conf file using default options as template. well, I also followed a tutorial that actually is for a old version but following the default options I did the adjusts. I did create the database and executed the query to create database but nothing is logged to mysql and even to sql file and all I get is the errors below: [error] (13)Permission denied: attempted append of local preserve file '/var/log/apache2/mod_slog_sql_preserve.sql' but failed. [error] mod_log_sql: child spawned but unable to open database link I've changed log file owner to apache user and group and also changed permition to 666 but even with this apache can't to write to sql file. I also did recreated the apache user permission and apache still can't open database link. I really don't know what to do since it appears to be so easy to setup and I really did all the things that articles says. Have someone any idea about? [gentoo-user] samba + mysql + crypt password (pam or passdb)?
hi guys, I'm trying to use mysql with samba to authenticate users. The fist thing I've tryed was passdb wich one is very useful except that I can't personalize the querys but that's not a problem since I could make my needed changes at pdb_sql.c Well after trying for a while I saw that I can't use crypt password with this auth method but just nt password, lan manager password and plain password (which one I'm using now). The problem is that this database is used for such other things like courier-imap and this one could support crypt passwords. Looking around I saw that I could use crypt password with pam + mysql and I decide to give it a try but I can't make pam to work. Actually I think the problem is with passdb parameter wich one I don't know what to put since I didn't seen any parameter that could match pam. I did try to comment passdb parameter but if I try it nor password verification is done. That's my pam.d/samba file where we can see I'm using plain password (crypt=0): auth required pam_mysql.so user=USERNAME passwd=PASSWORD host=LOCALHOST db=DATABASE usercolumn=user_id crypt=0 passwdcolumn=password table=user account required pam_mysql.so user=USERNAME passwd=PASSWORD host=LOCALHOST db=DATABASE usercolumn=user_id crypt=0 passwdcolumn=password table=user password required pam_mysql.so user=USERNAME passwd=PASSWORD host=LOCALHOST db=DATABASE usercolumn=user_id crypt=0 passwdcolumn=password table=user session required pam_mysql.so user=USERNAME passwd=PASSWORD host=LOCALHOST db=DATABASE usercolumn=user_id crypt=0 passwdcolumn=password table=user what I want is to use crypt password with mysql. I don't know if is there a way to do it without make more changes to passdb source code or if I could pass some parameter identifying that I'm using pam instead of other auth methods, so any suggestion would be appreciated. Re: [gentoo-user] samba + mysql + crypt password (pam or passdb)?
I did specified these lines at smb.conf: encrypt passwords = no obey pam restrictions = yes pam password change = yes and commented the line of passdb: #passdb backend = mysql:teste well, how I've said, if I do that setup and try to login samba try to use guest account instead of authenticate me: Attempting to find an passdb backend to match guest (guest) [2005/06/21 16:07:35, 5] passdb/pdb_interface.c:make_pdb_methods_name(669) Found pdb backend guest [2005/06/21 16:07:35, 5] passdb/pdb_interface.c:make_pdb_methods_name(672) pdb backend guest has a valid init since there's not a value to pass to "passdb backend" telling that I'm using pam I don't know how to put pam to work. I've tried "passdb backend = smbpasswd" but in this case samba try to validate users into smbpasswd file which is not what I want. Well, the drivers are the same and the slot used is also the same.My machine has other two NICs, one onboard (via-rhine) and a old realtek 8029 10/10 (ne2k-pci). On my /etc/modules.d/aliases I have the 3 lines below:alias eth0 via-rhinealias eth1 ne2k-pcialias eth2 3c59xand it works very well setting each device to the right eth interface until I'd start to change the NICs, sometimes it does not work but shuting down and powering up the machine again used to solve. now, since I'd changed the NICs, every time I boot up my machine the third device (3com) is associated with eth3 and eth2 does not have any device associated.my dmesg says that the interface eth2 was associated with the ne2k-pci but ifconfig tells that eth1 is ne2k-pci and eth3 (which doesn't appear at dmesg log) is the 3com one. ti01 myers # ifconfig eth3 upti01 myers # ifconfig|grep etheth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:8D:84:A8:4Feth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:C0:DF:EA:D6:49eth3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:04:6E:9C:AB ti01 myers # dmesg|grep etheth0: VIA Rhine II at 0xec061000, 00:50:8d:84:a8:4f, IRQ 193.eth0: MII PHY found at address 1, status 0x786d advertising 05e1 Link 45e1.eth2: RealTek RTL-8029 found at 0xa400, IRQ 209, 00:C0:DF:EA:D6:49. eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1ti01 myers # dmesg|grep 3Com:00:0a.0: 3Com PCI 3c905B Cyclone 100baseTx at c2228000.Well, I do not have any idea about how to fix it or what may be wrong since it is supposed to just setup /etc/modules.d/aliases and run modules-update to generate /etc/modules.conf. One extra information is that booting in single mode (init=/bin/bash) the interface order is ok. Could it be a udev problem? Thanks for the help,-- Claudinei Matos< [EMAIL PROTECTED]>55-21-81980605
Re: [gentoo-user] modules.conf - alias for eth devices - can't set the correct interface number
Looking at /etc/udev/rules.d/ I'd found 70-persistent-net.rules with the lines below: # PCI Device: 0x10ec:0x8029 (ne2k-pci) SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:c0:df:ea:d6:49", NAME="eth1" # PCI Device: 0x10b7:0x9200 (3c59x) SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:04:75:c5:5c:ce", NAME="eth2" The interface with name eth1 match the mac address with the installed one, but interface eth2 does not, probably 'cause it might be the old card mac adress. Well, now I know that in some way udev add these links automatically I do thing that I can just change the mac address putting the right one, letting the file appear like below: # PCI Device: (via-rhine) SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:50:8D:84:A8:4F", NAME="eth0" # PCI Device: 0x10ec:0x8029 (ne2k-pci) SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:C0:DF:EA:D6:49", NAME="eth1" # PCI Device: 0x10b7:0x9200 (3c59x) SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:50:04:6E:9C:AB", NAME="eth2" Well, that's OK, it do solve my problem but isn't it supposed to be an automatically process? Isn't it an UDEV or Gentoo task to deal with? -- Claudinei Matos I'm pretty sure you can use UDEV rules to set it, something like this: # cat /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules BUS=="pci", KERNEL=="eth[0-9]", SYSFS{address}=="00:2a:9a:d4:65:32", \ NAME="lan0" BUS=="pci", KERNEL=="eth[0-9]", SYSFS{address}=="00:a0:5d:3e:ae:54", \ NAME="lan1" Where SYSFS{address} is the MAC address of the card. -- Daniel da Veiga Computer Operator - RS - Brazil -BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK- Version: 3.1 GCM/IT/P/O d-? s:- a? [gentoo-user] intel 6300esb onboard raid
Hi guys, I'm own a Intel se7210tp1-e with a onboard Intel 6300ESB Raid Controller w/ two 80GB disks Well, I'm new to this hardware RAID things. My doubt is the follow: I've booted gentoo 2005.0 live-cd and when I typed "fdisk -l" I've got two disks printed: sda and sdb Raid is enabled at BIOS and even at the Adaptec onboard controller (RAID1), so isn't to get only one disc printed when raid enabled? I also tried to create some partitions at sda but that aren't replicated to sdb, so what am I doing wrong? Have any modules that I should load after the cd boot? Some sata modules are loaded like: sata_qstor sa_uli sata_sis sta_sx4 sta_nv sta_via sata_svw sata_sil sata_promise libata but I didn't found any module with name like 6300ESB. I can also load raid0 and raid1 modules but I think it's just necessary for software RAID. So, could someone give me a tip about that? I'm really confused and any suggestion will be appreciated. Tks a lot, Claudinei Matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
[gentoo-user] Re: intel 6300esb onboard raid
Scott, I've tryed your tips and found that my RAID controller is software based aka RAID fake... well, I get the gen2dmraid and give it a try but it not found any software RAID at my system. I've discovered that my controller is a intel IHC5 and it's hard to find docummentation to his... I found at the intel CD some drivers for redhat 9 pro, but it refuse to work at RH9 installation and I coudn't unpack the modules.cgz file. Maybe doesn't exists support for this controller at linux yet? I'm thinking that I'll only use RAID in this machine if I do it with software, what sounds bad to me. So any tips would be appreciated. Tks in any advice, Claudinei Matos -- Forwarded message -- From: Scott Storck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Hi guys, > >I'm own a Intel se7210tp1-e with a onboard Intel 6300ESB Raid Controller w/ two 80GB disks >Well, I'm new to this hardware RAID things. My doubt is the follow: > >I've booted gentoo 2005.0 live-cd and when I typed "fdisk -l" I've got two disks printed: >sda and sdb > > If your raid shows both drives under linux, instead of one drive, then it is not a true hardware raid. It is then a hardware raid which need os software support for the raid function. SATA raid is a little strange with kernel 2.6 and gentoo doesn't seem to fully support it yet. As of kernel 2.6 there is a new block device manager called "device mapper". The device mapper is used to support this type of raid controler. Using a tool called "dmraid" you can have the RAID information read out of the disks, and dmraid will construct the device mapper devices which allow you to use the raid as such. After booting a 2005.0 livecd, you can check to see if running "dmsetup ls" shows you a raid device. If so, then the dmraid command and device mapper on the 2005.0 livdcd supports your controler. The dmraid on the 2005.0 livecd has some know problems. The version on the cd is 1.0.0.rc6. Specifically, sometimes it shows the capacitly of RAID 1 devices being less then what it is. Usually by a factor of two. ie 2 x 80GB in RAID 1 makes 80GB, however you end up with only 40GB in your raid. If this is the case, you can't simply use the normal livecd to install. There is a newer version of the "dmraid" tool. (1.0.0.rc7) which however fixes this. -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
[gentoo-user] bind and canonical names
Hi guys, First of all, I want to excuse me for post this message here, I know it's quite off topic, but I also know that here we have a lot of guys wanting to help. Well, I'm trying to configure BIND at my office network and I did created a fake domain just to learn how to configure BIND. I did setup named.conf (actualy I did installed BIND chrooted version) and also my zone files, so the configuration is like the follow: $TTL 1W @ IN SOA ns.hvip. myers.hvip. ( 200505022100 28800 14400 604800 86400 ) hvip. IN A 192.168.7.99 @ IN NS ns.hvip. @ IN MX 10 mail.hvip. myers.hvip. IN A 192.168.7.99 ns.hvip.IN CNAME myers. mailIN CNAME myers. Well, if I try to test dns at nslookup console I can tell all the hosts listed above and get all the properties about his even if it's a canonical name. When I try to ping the same hosts I can't get they all to work and actually only myers.hvip reply me, the others hosts are replyed as unkown host. What am I doing wrong? I tryed a lot of combinations how you can see in lines about ns and mail CNAME, but the canonical names never reply my ping request. Could some one give me some tip about it? [gentoo-user] bind 9.2.2-r3, refuse to work, may I emerge sync just bind?
Hi guys, I just put my dns to work hear at my network, so now I'm wanting to put it to my webserver with a real domain name. At my office machine I have bind-9.2.5 that is working very fine, but at the webserver I have bind-9.2.2-r3. My problem now is that bind at webserver refuse to work. I even tried to completelly remove bind of my system e re-emerge it, calling named with the default configuration and it also doesnt't work. [EMAIL PROTECTED] bind # named -c named.conf -g May 04 10:56:09.385 starting BIND 9.2.2-P1 -c named.conf -g May 04 10:56:09.385 using 2 CPUs May 04 10:56:09.387 loading configuration from '/etc/bind/named.conf' May 04 10:56:09.388 listening on IPv4 interface lo, 127.0.0.1#53 May 04 10:56:09.390 none:0: open: /etc/bind/rndc.key: permission denied May 04 10:56:09.390 couldn't add command channel 127.0.0.1#953: permission denied May 04 10:56:09.390 ignoring config file logging statement due to -g option May 04 10:56:09.390 couldn't open pid file '/var/run/named/named.pid': Permission denied May 04 10:56:09.390 exiting (due to early fatal error) I've checked the directories and files permissions and it's equals in my office network. How I telled, I'm trying to use the default bind configuration as you can see below: options { directory "/var/bind"; // uncomment the following lines to turn on DNS forwarding, // and change the forwarding ip address(es) : //forward first; //forwarders { // 123.123.123.123; // 123.123.123.123; //}; listen-on-v6 { none; }; listen-on { 127.0.0.1; }; // to allow only specific hosts to use the DNS server: //allow-query { // 127.0.0.1; //}; // if you have problems and are behind a firewall: //query-source address * port 53; pid-file "/var/run/named/named.pid"; }; zone "." Is that a problem with this version? I can't do a full "emerge sync" now with the webserver operating, but if I can just "emerge sync" bind, is there a possible? Looking at google I've discovered that I had to specify the username named with "-u named", now it's working, but I have another problem I tried to start named with the rc script but there was an error in the load and now I can't reload/stop/start it with the rc file, always when I try I get just an error "!!" from the rc script, but if I try to execute named with "start-stop-daemon --start --exec /usr/sbin/named -- -u named -n 2 -t /chroot -c /etc/bind/named.conf -d3" it's work fine...I've looked and I doesn't found any pid file that could was telling that named is already started, so how to finish that inexistent fake process and start again with rc? [gentoo-user] bt878 + gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r6 = sound doesn't work (amd64)
hi, since my motherboard suddenly die I decide to buy a amd64 processor. well, everything is fine, even gnome, mplayer, firefox, etc.. I did installed kdetv for use with my bt878 board and actually video is ok, but I can't get sound to work. In the oldest athlon-xp with kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.7-r9 I had tv working fine with sound using this modules settings: ### alias char-major-89 i2c-dev options i2c-core i2c_debug=1 options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1 alias char-major-81 videodev alias char-major-81-0 bttv options bttv card=70 pll=1 radio=1 options tuner=2 type=5 debug=1 options snd-trident snd_index=0 options msp3400 mixer=1 ### but now with gento-sources-2.6.12-r6 I can't use the same settings cause snd_trident and msp3400 refuse to load accusing a "Unknown parameter" and specifying "snd_index=0" and respectively "mixer=1" as the not supported parameter. If I try to remove the options I can load these modules but sound doesn't work. do somebody how to make it work again? how can I know wich parameters these modules supports? tks in advice, claudinei matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-user] bt878 + gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r6 = sound doesn't work (amd64)
well, I did what you suggested.. commented out the options and tried coldplug, but in this way I can't even get the board output (for jack adapter) to work. Ignoring snd_trident and msp3400 I could use a jack 2 jack cable to link capture card output with sound card input but thats wasn't what I want. I will still trying to put that to work, if someone have another idea please let me know. tks. claudinei matos On 8/14/05, Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > In the oldest athlon-xp with kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.7-r9 I had tv > > working fine with sound using this modules settings: > > ### > > alias char-major-89 i2c-dev > > options i2c-core i2c_debug=1 > > options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1 > > > > alias char-major-81 videodev > > alias char-major-81-0 bttv > > options bttv card=70 pll=1 radio=1 > > options tuner=2 type=5 debug=1 > > > > options snd-trident snd_index=0 > > options msp3400 mixer=1 > > ### > > > > but now with gento-sources-2.6.12-r6 I can't use the same settings > > cause snd_trident and msp3400 refuse to load accusing a "Unknown > > parameter" and specifying "snd_index=0" and respectively "mixer=1" as > > the not supported parameter. > > If I try to remove the options I can load these modules but sound doesn't > > work. > > > > do somebody how to make it work again? how can I know wich parameters > > these modules supports? > > > > tks in advice, > > > > claudinei matos > > Try commenting out all the bttv and related options, run update-modules > and let coldplug work it all out. > > That fixed a similar problem for me > > > > -- > Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
[gentoo-user] cbqlimit children priority
Hi, I'm using cbqlimit to shape my bandwidth usage. What I want is that even if some user make some download from xyz.com using the full rate of the link I could start some other download at my external server and get the priority limiting the other user download speed and increasing mine. Well, since I've an adsl link using eth1, I did made some rules to match eth0 outgoing (which match internet inbound). I've created one general rule which one I'd setup with the full incoming rate matching all incoming address/port with a priority 3. To my server address, I'd setup a rule with priority 1, but that rule is using the genereal rule as parent. I think that's the way I have to follow but that doesn't work exactly like I want. Trying to make 2 downloas from differente sources (my own server and any other server), the unknown server get more speed than mine. I'd tried to separate my server rule removing the parent reference, so this time they both are main rules and my server have a priority "1" while the other rule have priority "3", but even in this way, the other server still getting more speed than my server. How can I fixate this? May I'll have to use just one rule for my server and let the "unknown" sources to have the free portion of the bandwidth? [gentoo-user] openLDAP with mysql backend (problems with libmyodbc.so => undefined symbol: lt_dlclose )
hi, I'm trying to setup openLDAP to use mysql as backend with a guid I found here http://www.section6.net/help/openldap.php Well, I did reinstalled openLDAP with unixODBC use flag on and setup /etc/unixODBC/ odbc.ini and odbcinst.ini since this files comes empty. Bellow follow what I setup in these files: (odbcinst.ini) [ODBC Drivers] MySQL = Installed [MySQL] Description=ODBC for MySQL Driver=/usr/lib/libmyodbc3.so (odbc.ini) [ODBC Data Sources] ldap = MySQL LDAP DSN [ldap] Driver = /usr/lib/libmyodbc3.so Description = OpenLDAP Database Host= localhost ServerType = MySQL Port= 3306 FetchBufferSize = 99 User= ldap_user Password= ldap_pass Database= ldap_db ReadOnly= no Socket = /var/run/mysqd/mysqld.sock [ODBC] InstallDir=/usr/local/lib Well, since I saw that /usr/lib/libmyodbc3.so doesn't exist I've tried to use libodbc.so instead and even libodbcmyS.so. The next step was to test odbc connection with iodbctest but this application hadn't been instaled, so I try to emerge libiodbc and iodbc. Well, installing these 2 packages I got iodbctest, tried to connect: [EMAIL PROTECTED] # iodbctest iODBC Demonstration program This program shows an interactive SQL processor Driver Manager: 03.51.0001.0908 Enter ODBC connect string (? shows list): ? DSN| Description --- ldap | MySQL LDAP DSN but when I try to pass DSN=ldap that's what I get: "Enter ODBC connect string (? shows list): DSN=ldap 1: (0), SQLSTATE= Have a nice day." Looking around I've found that libmyodbc3.so is provided by myodbc package which one I've emerged and setup in both odbc.ini and odbcinst.ini like the tutorial says, but now, if I try to run iodbctest that's what I get when I type "DSN=ldap": 1: [iODBC][Driver Manager]/usr/lib/libmyodbc3.so: undefined symbol: lt_dlclose (0), SQLSTATE=0 2: [iODBC][Driver Manager]Specified driver could not be loaded (0), SQLSTATE=IM003 Since I got this error, I've thinked that may I had to reinstall unixODBC, iodbc, libiodbc but even after reinstall all these packages I still getting the same error. Do somebody knows how to fix that? Is there another way to use mysql as a backend to LDAP? Tks in advice, Claudinei Matos -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
[gentoo-user] bacula compiling problem, access violation on sandbox
Hi guys,I'm trying to install bacula console on my amd64 notebook but I always get the same error after the build:--- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---LOG FILE = "/var/log/sandbox/sandbox-app-backup_-_bacula- 1.36.3-r3-26793.log"open_wr: /dev/sg0open_wr: /dev/sg0I did try to mix the use flags but I always get the same error. I did even tried to add the device sg0 (cd /dev;MAKEDEV generic) but the error persists. I did tried this same installation at my network server (a Pentium-4) and it did work.Do somebody knows how may I fix this?Tks in advice,-- Claudinei Matos
[gentoo-user] initramfs, network diskless boot, init process, problems with switchroot (pivot_root)
Hi guys,I'm not sure if it's the best place to do this question but I hope somebody could help me...well, I'm trying to make such a network diskless boot script for a amd64 machine, the target of this project is to boot an amd64 machine via network and mount nfs share as the root filesystem. I'd created an initramfs wich mount the nfs share and do the pivot_root (actually switch_root from busybox) but the problem is exactly at this moment, 'cause when I try to do the switch_root and start the real init from the nfs share, the system appears to freeze but after some seconds it do print a message "Rebooting System" and just reboot the machine. I'd tried to reinstall sysvinit (even a static version) but the problem persists, I als tried to change the sysinit script on inittab but again the same problem and it feels like the script is not executed, so for a last try I did changed the init binary with a script that just call /bin/bash and for my surprise it did work, but none system process run course. What I want to know is if is there a way to change this "/sbin/rc sysinit" from inittab to a custom script wich will do some configurations like create some directories, mount some systems and later start the normal process from "default" rc? tks in any advance,-- Claudinei Matos<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>55-21-81980605
Re: [gentoo-user] aRts sound server on KDE 3.5.2?
Hi Michael,I give oss-emulation backend a try in arts configuration and it really works for me (now I can run noatun again), but you said u're using xine-backend as amarok engine without arts. Well, I did tried to use gstreammer with amarok but there's a problem with the gst mad library (a friend using ubuntu has the same problem) so I give a try to xine but anytime when I try to choose xine as the engine amarok give me the follow message: "xine was unable to initialize any audio-drivers". Could you please give me a advice about this setup? I can't wait to get back using amarok :)tks,On 4/19/06, Michael Schreckenbauer < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Am Mittwoch, 19. Some versionswork quite well for me using the alsa-backend, other versions only work, whenI use the oss backend via the oss-emulation of alsa. So I would try the different backends, maybe that helps. Re: [gentoo-user] initramfs, network diskless boot, init process, problems with switchroot (pivot_root)
Well, too many replies, thank you all :)I could solve my problem using strace to detect where init stops (of course I had to recompile init allowing to not be PID 1). Looking at the errors reported on strace log I could see that the problem was with the /dev/null and /dev/console doesn't exists so I've changed my init script to create they both and now everything works like a charm :) Oh, and actually I'm using switch_root from busybox which is very similar to pivot_root.Again, tks for all replies,Claudinei MatosOn 6/21/06, Richard Fish <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: On 6/21/06, Hans-Werner Hilse <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:> chroot. [gentoo-user] tun/tap - ifconfig tun0 - device not found
Hi guys,I'm trying to use tun/tap to assign some ip to my server (since I'll need it to my LVS solution) and I think it's a trivial task to put tun to work, but I'm trying in 3 different machines (with 2 different kernels) and in both they when I try to ifconfig tun0 I get the follow message: tun0: error fetching interface information: Device not foundWell, I'd try to look if is something wrong with my kernel configuration but is everything ok since it just need tun/tap support to be compiled (I did tried both module and built-in). /dev/net/tun is a valid character device with 10, 200 (major/minor)the both kernel I'd tried are 2.6.16-gentoor3 and 2.6.16-gentoo-r9.so where the error? tks in advice,-- Claudinei Matos
Re: [gentoo-user] tun/tap - ifconfig tun0 - device not found
tks for the help.. I was really thinking about give dummy interface a try but instead I did solved my problem using an lo alias like this:ifconfig lo:0 192.168.1.2 broadcast 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.255 supposing that eth0 is on the same network ;)what is funny is that on all LVS guides I'd read, they just mention the sequence: modprobe tunifconfig tun0 x.x.x.xno one talk about initiate the tun device or to use some other software to do that.tks, claudinei matosOn 7/8/06, Hans-Werner Hilse <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Hi, On Fri, 7 Jul 2006 19:04:41 -0300"Claudinei Matos" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:> I'm trying to use tun/tap to assign some ip to my server (since I'll need it > to my LVS solution) and I think it's a trivial task to put tun to work, but> I'm trying in 3 different machines (with 2 different kernels) and in both> they when I try to ifconfig tun0 I get the follow message: > tun0: error fetching interface information: Device not found>> Well, I'd try to look if is something wrong with my kernel configuration but> is everything ok since it just need tun/tap support to be compiled (I did > tried both module and built-in).>> /dev/net/tun is a valid character device with 10, 200 (major/minor)...and, is at first all you get by enabling TUN support in the kernel.See /usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/tuntap.txt for more information about the ioctl() you have to issue in order to register atun network device (TUNSETIFF). The docs have a code example, too.Oh, and I think OpenVPN has inbuilt functionality to create or remove tun network devices (independent from OpenVPNs other functionality).I've not completely understood what your usage scenario was, but maybea dummy network device is enough?-hwh-- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
