Re: Going to install testing: should I use sarge or woody installer?
Actually, if you installed with Woody and afterwards change sources list to testing, everything would go mad. So just use sarge to install if that's what finally you like to use. - Original Message - From: "Thierry Michalowski" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2004 4:58 PM Subject: Going to install testing: should I use sarge or woody installer? > Hi , > > I'm going to install a new machine on Debian, and I will surely follow > testing, as I've been used to for years. > > Nevertheless, installing a new machine with woody today, just to upgrade > it to testing (and I do want a 2.6 linux kernel!) looks cumbersome. > The question is : should I nevertheless proceed with a woody > installation CD , manually change my sources.list and apt-get > dist-upgrade at will ? > Or should I use the sarge-rc1 CD install ? > > Related question : if I use sarge-rc1 to install, will apt get > automatically configured to follow testing ? > Or, when sarge will become stable, would I have to take care of changing > my apt config if there happened a requirement to stick to stable afterwards? > > I realize my questions may look awkward but I simply can't wait for > sarge to be "stable" unless it happens whithin the next 2 weeks. > > Thanks in advance! > Thierry > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe". weird that dhclient functions
Hello, list, My Woody get its IP from DHCP server by running a process as below: 306 ?S 0:00 /sbin/dhclient-2.2.x -q eth0 The thing weird is that sometimes I can see 2 same processes of that in PS output, but sometimes just 1. While 2 processes exist, the network connection would be well kept. But in case just 1 process exist, sometimes the connection would be dropped down for no reason. Also, it is still using an old version of dhclient in my box, although I've upgrade kernel to 2.4.27. Do I need to do something for that? Many thanks! Fw: weird that dhclient functions
Strangely why I've gotten my last mail sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] so far? That's why I'm resending it here. - Original Message - From: "Kevin Wang" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "debian-user" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, October 24, 2004 6:41 PM Subject: weird that dhclient functions > Hello, list, > > My Woody get its IP from DHCP server by running a process as below: > > 306 ?S 0:00 /sbin/dhclient-2.2.x -q eth0 > > The thing weird is that sometimes I can see 2 same processes of that in PS > output, but sometimes just 1. > > While 2 processes exist, the network connection would be well kept. help with DHCP clinet
Hello, lists, I'm using Debian Woody with base system and few packages installed. I've upgrade Gcc to v3.3.3, Glibc to 2.3.2, Kernel to 2.4.27. My box locates in an environment in which DHCP is been using for IP address assignment, and also a user account is required for logging into service to reach outside of the local net. In theory, DHCP would send renewal request to server end periodically the mean by which DHCP server can know the client is alive, otherwise, DHCP would think it dead, in my case, server end would also automatically sign out my account so that my box could not reach outside of the local net till next time manually signing in. >From PS output, I can see a process "dhclient-2.2.x -q eth0" right there, but there's no renewal request been sent out at all in daemon.log unless I issue the command "/etc/init.d/networking restart" What's wrong with it? DHCP questions...
Hello, all, PS print a line as below: 318 ?S 0:00 /sbin/dhclient-2.2.x -q eth0 I've referred to man page of dhclient, see no argument of 'q', however. What does it affect after all? Second, where or how to check if the lease of DHCP expires? I know "ipconfig /all" can do this under Windows. Thanks! Re: Linux on a Thinkbad T42
Just download from www.openoffice.org and install it. That's not such difficult. - Original Message - From: "Pedro M (Morphix User)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Jule Slootbeek" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, October 24, 2004 11:02 PM Subject: Re: Linux on a Thinkbad T42 > I can not apt-get the package > http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openoffice.org-debian-files/openoffice.org-debian-files_1.1.2-4+1_all.deb > for openoffice. > > Regards > > :( > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: help with DHCP clinet
