Bug#885945: libkf5notifyconfig-dev: Wrong depends

2017-12-31 Thread manuel
Package: libkf5notifyconfig-dev
Version: 5.41.0-1
Severity: normal

The package depends on the non-existant 'likf5kio-dev' and this seems to be a
typo since the proper package dependence
should be 'libkf5kio-dev'.

Bug#614521: kdm: black screen with visible mouse when plugging power supply in after hibernation

2014-05-04 Thread Manuel Ullmann
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.8.4-6
Followup-For: Bug #614521

Dear Maintainer,
I´m experiencing this in wheezy. The bug is triggered for me by logging out
from KDE (restart of kdm).
I thought this might be a video driver problem, however, if it happens with the
proprietary Nvidia driver
this is not the case. I´m using the open source radeon driver with
firmware-linux-nonfree (KMS support).
So far this didn´t happen when changing to a tty and back to X, but this might
be because of KMS.

I wouldn´t say, this bug is important, because kdm is still functional. As a
workaround you can activate
X zapping and restart X by ctrl+alt+backspace. You would need the following
configuration files.
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"
MatchIsKeyboard "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "XkbOptions" "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
EndSection
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/11-dontzap
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection

Usually the password field should already have focus, but if you want to change
the user it might get annoying.

It does not seem to be a problem with the power supply. I do get this every
time on ac. I can´t check,
if this happens also after hibernation, because most of the times I hit another
bug, where the screen
gets completely corrupted (kdm is restartable, but the session is lost of
course).
I might file another bug report for that. It also does not seem to have
something to do with the kwin renderer.
I get this also, when kwin desktop effects are disabled (alt+shift+f12). As I
get this also, when no KDE
session is running, I doubt, that powerdevil or kwin have to do something with
it, but a black screen has
often something to do with the OpenGL renderer. I´m afraid not this time.
So these are my findings. Feel free to comment. Maybe a forced X restart on
logout could bypass this bug.

Bug#614521: kdm: black screen with visible mouse when plugging power supply in after hibernation

2014-05-04 Thread Manuel Ullmann
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.8.4-6
Followup-For: Bug #614521

Dear Maintainer,

just tested changing the user using the KDE launcher. It does not happen, which
is no surprise, because a new X server is started. This is just consequent and
confirms the fact, that restarting the X server would solve the problem. Kdm
seems
to not restarting the server on a single user session logout. Actually this
should
of course not be necessary.

Bug#779500: qtcreator: Qtcreator disappears when switching displays

2015-03-01 Thread Manuel Gräber
Package: qtcreator
Version: 3.2.1+dfsg-7
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when I switch the display while qtcreator (or texmaker) is running the window
disappears. The process keeps on running. The console output (when I switch
displays) is:
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
QBackingStore::flush() called for  QWidgetWindow(0x150bc40, name =
"Core::Internal::MainWindowClassWindow") which does not have a handle.

For me an easy way to reproduce is (on my laptop, intel gpu) using xfce4,
plugging in a external display and switch to the external, disabling the
internal at the same time. But I was also able to reproduce it on my desktop PC
(running mate, nvidia gpu).

Bug#892613: sddm: Power Saving -> Blank screen not working when using sddm

2018-03-11 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek
Package: sddm
Version: 0.17.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I switched from gdm3 to sddm for a while, as gdm3 gave me problems. Everything
worked as I expected, except that my monitor wasn't disabled after 5 minutes as
what I was used to. My GNOME settings ("Power Saving" -> Blank screen) were
still enabled, but it simply didn't happen. Now that I switched back to gdm3,
it works again, so it must be something related to sddm. Hence this report.

Kind regards,
Manuel

Bug#704482: #704482 general: file copy over kde gui or cp to an usb devices (tried fat/ext3) is showen as finshed while it's still copying

2013-04-02 Thread Manuel Schmidt
Hello thx to your repley

"You marked the bug with "patch" but I don't see any patch, I assume this
was an error."
yes you are right, sorry for that :(

"Severity: critical"ok i see i overdid it just saw datalost but i think it
means it in an other content.

"Nothing in "man cp" guarantees that
the file has been copied to the disk when the command exits."
i know that there is no guarantees but at the bash normaly when the prompt
comes back, the command is fineshed or? which in this case isn't

Couldn't this make bad behaivors when i write for example bash scripts which
makes further actions with the file?

I'm a little bit curios that you don't see that kde and cp is showing that they
have fineshed the file but it isn't. I think this behaivor wasn't in the last
two stables (maybe i had luck?) but i never used some unmount or save
remove. There was no need do it., ok i can do it now.
If i unmount there is an error when its coping what is more or less ok:
"Unmount failed: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the
reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
but at the kde eject there is no feedback, you can not say is it now unmounted
or not.

"I think it would be nice to have a progress bar that
would show the actual data transfer."
But if it is at those both are not showing the correct state, doesn't that mean
that this will be at any data copying over usb?. So it's something more
generall then konquer? (which i do not use, i use Dolphin)

thanks for your answers
Best regards

Hey,

>There is, if you are using KDE and plasma. I think it's trough dbus, so maybe
>it works in Gnome too.

Thats the point there is and its fine but its wrong for fat usb devices, i
tested it now for cp because its easier to stop the time but its at this
progress bar from kde the same
So i copied a file with 1,5GB and the copy progress is "finished in 55sec"
(command prompt comes back) but it isn't, you see that they device is still
working for another 30sec (i have gkrellm where you see the datarate to
devices) and in this time you can not unmount the device you get the error i
posted in my last message. So kde and cp are showing a wrong state of coping
file to fat usb devices.

you tried it? for fat usb devices?

Bug#993331: JPEG2000/JP2 support missing

2021-08-30 Thread Manuel Geißer

Package: qt5-image-formats-plugins
Version: 5.15.2-2

It seems that the Debian `qt5-image-formats-plugins` package does not
support JPEG2000/JP2 images, in spite of this format being supported by
Qt [1] through the JasPer Image Processing/Coding Tool Kit [2]. This
results in QImage-based end-user applications such as Gwenview not
supporting this popular image format, although technically possible.

In order to add JP2 support, `qt5-image-formats-plugins` would need to
be built with JasPer, which would first require packaging the latter in
Debian. The Ubuntu repository already contains a package named `jasper`,
but it does something completely different [3], so the image processing
JasPer package may need to be named differently.

JasPer used to be affected by security issues [4], but as of the day of
writing all known CVEs are fixed [5], and JasPer continues to be
maintained by the original author Michael Adams and contributors [6]
(latest version 2.0.33 released on 2021-08-01 [7]).

Note that the author of this bug report does not use Debian itself, but
the Ubuntu-based KDE Neon [8]. However, judging by the list of
dependencies [9], `qt5-image-formats-plugins` is not built with JasPer
and thus without JP2 support in Debian. Therefore, this report should
only be seen as a notification to the Debian packaging team in order to
promote support for the JP2 format.

Bug#993331: JPEG2000/JP2 support missing

2021-08-31 Thread Manuel Geißer

Hello Norbert,

thanks for your response.

> Yes, that is the first step. There has been a jasper package back in
> Jessie times but it seems it has been removed.
> [...]
> I am not sure whether we want to package jasper here in the Qt/KDE team.

Yeah, it had been removed due to isuues about security and maintenance
[1]. However, now that JasPer is actively maintained again, these
concerns should mostly be allayed. KDE Neon just added the JasPer
package back [2], and Arch had kept it all the time [3]. So personally I
would think it reasonable to package JasPer in Debian again. There may
also be other packages aside from `qt5-image-formats-plugins` that could
profit from JasPer.

> Unfortunately, the qt5-image-formats-plugins sources don't support
> openjp2 library, and only accept jasper.

You're right. Is TQtC aware of the past issues with JasPer? Maybe
someone should file an issues at `bugreports.qt.io` to request porting
to openjpeg2?

Kind regards,
Manuel

I haven't used the program in a long while (and kept upgrading my testing

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or

I installed qml-module-org-kde-quickcharts manually. That made it start-up.

But when I then tried to scan a folder... another error:
QQmlComponent: Component is not ready
file:///usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/org/kde/kirigami.2/PageRow.qml:916:

So, I installed qml-module-org-kde-kcoreaddons manually.

Then the program worked as expected.

So, please add these 2 missing dependencies. Thanks!

Bug#398236: closed by Fathi BOUDRA (reply to f...@debian.org) (libqt4-gui: No Anti-Aliased fonts since 4.2)

2008-09-19 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Debian Bug Tracking System wrote:

This is an automatic notification regarding your Bug report

#398236: libqt4-gui: No Anti-Aliased fonts since 4.2

It has been closed by Fathi BOUDRA <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (reply to [EMAIL

Why are you closing the bug? There is no explanation!

Anyway, here's an interesting IRC session:

Hi, is it normal that a Qt app looks bad on my GNOME system,
in the sense that the fonts are not anti-aliased? (All other fonts are.)

Quibus: http://pastebin.com/m7a39e433 add this to ~/.fonts.conf

The contents of the file:

   true

   hintfull

   true

can you give some explanation why this is necessary?
maybe you have also to remove the rgba stuff (rgb -> none) if
you don't want to have subpixel antialiasing

Can you give me the somewhat longer answer? :-)
because GNOME suck^W doesn't use .fonts.conf (as every other
toolkit that uses fontconfig do) , but keeps its font antialiasing
configuration somewhere in its windows registr^W^W gconf stuff

   so far for freedesktop.org standards?
   Anyway, thanks peppe
maybe with Qt4.5 and QGtkStyle this behaviour will end, but
if I use another toolkit that uses freetype, I won't get antialiased
fonts on that
I don't know which one is "correct" by freedesktop.org
standards, but saying "yeah, keeping configuration in GConf is the
standard" is a bit strange

Anyway, this did fix the problem (again) for me. Might be a good idea to
keep this information alive, as it isn't documented on a clear
location... (AFAIK).

Bug#318682: Hmm, are you sure?

2005-09-04 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Hello,

Making qt4-x11 depend on libxinerama-dev, means that it depens on xorg.
This means that qt4 can only get into testing when the X transition is
completed.

I'm far from an expert on this, but are you sure you really want this?

(OTOH: I suppose the transition to xorg is inevitable anyway, in that
case it doesn't really matter at all... (right?))

Kind regards,

Manuel Bilderbeek

Re: Bug#243873: kmix: volume and pcm2 inverted ; balance does not work

2005-12-07 Thread Manuel Vazquez Acosta
Samuel,

I have set up a laptop, and found the same pcm2 is the one mastering the
overall volume. Sadly, everytime I power on the laptop, I'm forced to
open gnome-volumen-control and increase pcm2 level. Besides I want to be
able to set Fn+F8, Fn+F9 keys to down and up the volume level, which
currently they do for volume and not pcm2. Have you found any workaround
to this problem?

Regards,
Manuel.

Hi,

2017-11-01 00:09 Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo:

Hi,

2016-09-18 15:22 Helmut Grohne:

Source: libiodbc2
Version: 3.52.9-2
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

libiodbc2 fails to cross build from source, because it uses the build
architecture pkg-config. Thus it fails finding gtk and that results in
missing files. It seems that ./admin/gtk-2.0.m4 has its own code for
discovering which $PKG_CONFIG to use rather than using a standard
autoconf macro. Thus it does not default to use the triplet-prefixed
pkg-config and does not consider the PKG_CONFIG environment variable
either. The attached patch forces the right pkg-config via the
corresponding cache variable. Please consider applying the patch or
fixing the .m4 file to use standard (working) checks.

Do you have any plans to upload a new version of the package, and if so,
what do you think of this fix?

Are you OK with the fix and would it help if we offer to NMU, to move
this forward?

Uploaded to delayed/10, please tell me if you would like me to to cancel
the NMU; or if it's OK, if I can re-schedule it to happen sooner.

.debdiff attached, it's basically what Helmut already sent as patch.

Cheers.

Hi,

We are in the process of bootstrapping a Debian port for the riscv64
architecture (https://wiki.debian.org/RISC-V).

The symbols need to be updated for this arch, please see the patch attached.

We would appreciate if you could upload a version soonish to unstable including
this fix, to keep the delta as small as possible.

If you need help or want us to NMU, etc., please tell.

Thanks and cheers.

Bug#897667: qt4-x11: Please add support for new architecture "riscv64"

2018-05-03 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Source: qt4-x11
Version: 4:4.8.7+dfsg-15
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream
User: debian-ri...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: riscv64

Hello,

We need support in this package to bootstrap the riscv64 architecture.

Yes, I know that you want to get rid of Qt4 once and for all and ASAP, and I
fully agree with the goal. However, a bazillion of packages depend on qt4-x11
indirectly, for example libsdl2 needs it (through fcitx, then
cmake-extra-modules, then qt5-qmake, then qtchooser that depends on Qt4 stuff);
many package still need it directly; etc.

So without support in this package, progress becomes impossible at an early
stage.

I am attaching a patch that adds support for the architecture. AFAIK (please
confirm) upstream doesn't accept patches since long ago, so no point in sending
it there. For Qt5 we're already sending it upstream, e.g. webkit stuff.

It would be great if you could include these changes and release a new version
for unstable, for the time being the patched version lives in "unreleased".

Thanks and cheers.

300 is a very low estimation/calculation, if you're using something
like "build-rdeps" it doesn't tell the whole picture at all, at least
for new ports.

Let me dig through the dependency graphs in some detail.

"build-rdeps --old qt4-x11" says:
  Found a total of 226 reverse build-depend(s) for libqt4-dev.

This includes things like phonon, automoc, kde4libs, fcitx, and
python-qt4, which then expands the dependency tree to:

  Found a total of 20 reverse build-depend(s) for python-qt4.
  Found a total of 46 reverse build-depend(s) for libphonon4qt5-dev.
-> this includes okular, plasma-desktop... most of KDE-5
  Found a total of 29 reverse build-depend(s) for fcitx-libs-dev.
-> this includes libsdl2, with 100 rdeps as we'll see later

This alone is 300 or more (it depends if the sets of packages overlap,
but rdeps of qt4 and libsdl2 don't overlap much).

automoc is an interesting one to look at, initially only has a few:

  kde4libs
  polkit-qt-1
  akonadi4
Found a total of 3 reverse build-depend(s) for automoc.

But it turns out that kauth (kde5) depends on polkit-qt1:

  lxqt-policykit
  calamares
  libqapt
  polkit-kde-agent-1
  kauth
  Found a total of 5 reverse build-depend(s) for libpolkit-qt5-1-dev.

And lots of KDE things depend on kauth:
  Found a total of 18 reverse build-depend(s) for libkf5auth-dev.
- includes plasma-desktop, baloo-kf5, kconfigwidgets

So basically, since half of KDE5 depends on kauth, which depends on
polkit-kde-agent1, which depends on polkit-qt1, which depends on
automoc, which depends on qt4-x11, KDE5 cannot be built until qt4-x11
is built and crossing fingers that all other deps are available.

(Or otherwise the chain of deps would need to be broken somewhere, but
that needs one of these:
a.- "forking" the packages in Debian until qt4-x11 is removed
completely, which will not happen in months even in the most
optimistic scenarios
b.- get patches in dozens of packages to not depend on qt4
specifically in riscv64, instead of just getting qt4-x11 to work
).

So as we can see, just because automoc depends on qt4-x11, all of KDE
depends on it, even if KDE itself moved to Qt5.

Let's look at another case not related with the one above, but also
with deep entangle of dependencies involving Qt4.

One of the deps that need python-qt4 and python-qt4-dbus is libffado,
on which only two packages depend:

  jack-audio-connection-kit
  jackd2
  Found a total of 2 reverse build-depend(s) for libffado-dev.

For the first of them (not looking at the second):

  Found a total of 152 reverse build-depend(s) for libjack-dev.
-> includes pulseaudio and vlc

pulseaudio is a dependency of libsdl2, and half of Debian really:

  Found a total of 100 reverse build-depend(s) for libsdl2-dev.
- includes ffmpeg
  Found a total of 151 reverse build-depend(s) for libpulse-dev.
- includes, among many others:
cinnamon,
empathy,
gnome-shell, gnome-control-center,
mate-settings-daemon,
efl (enlightenment),
kde-runtime,
pyqt5,
phonon,
vlc, ffmpeg, mpv, mplayer,
wine

Deps of ffmpeg:
  Found a total of 110 reverse build-depend(s) for libavcodec-dev.
-> this includes things like vlc

So in this second case, because libffado depends on python-qt4*,
pulseaudio and therefore almost all media and desktop packages are
affected by this, and cannot be built.

So in short, really, about half of Debian depends on qt4-x11 in one
way or another, including ironically KDE, that moved away from Qt4
long ago.

>> for example libsdl2 needs it (through fcitx, then
>> cmake-extra-modules, then qt5-qmake, then qtchooser that depends on Qt4

> it means we better take a look here. Please give us more info with respect how

So as I explained, there are many examples above of dependency cycles
that involve Qt4.

Perhaps fcitx is not the best example if you consider isolatedly, but
libsdl2 that needs to have fcitx installed to be built, or phonon and
others with pulseaudio, depend indirectly on Qt4 via several packages,
and all important media stuff and desktops depends on that.

Bug#897667: qt4-x11: Please add support for new architecture "riscv64"

Hey, don't worry, it's also confusing for me.

Not long ago I thought that the new default method using "dose" would
print all the tree of dependencies, but although it prints a bit more
than the simple direct ones that build-depend on the package being
asked, it's not the full tree by any means.

It also surprised me that Qt4 would be so deep-rooted. I though that
only packages depending directly on the toolkit and not ported would
be involved, and hoped to not have to deal with qt4-x11 at all for
this new port, but things turned to be otherwise :(

As I said in the previous email and what another person wrote in
private related to this question, I think that removing it from
libffado, fcitx and phonon goes already a long way.

I also just noticed these that might be in your hand to remove soon-ish:

plasma-theme-oxygen depends upon kde-style-oxygen-qt4 (= 4:5.12.0-2)
kde-style-oxygen depends upon kde-style-oxygen-qt4
soprano-daemon depends upon libqt4-dbus (>= 4:4.5.3)

At least, when I remove libqt4* from my system, it's only libqt4* and
kde4 stuff (kamerka, katepart) , plus a few specific packages like
phonon and these 3 that I mention above.

> Given all the above I'll try to push Qt4 tonight. If in 24hs I do not get to

Don't worry, it's not that urgent, but I appreciate the effort.

Like for qtbase* in qt5, we can use "unreleased" suite, and the
buildds pick up the dependency for it.

It is a problem in the long term, thinking in months, because at some
point the packages need changes, get entangled in transitions, etc, so
the packages to "unreleased" sometimes have to be refreshed and it's a
hassle. We have 40~80 there, while we solve problems with their
build-deps or send patches that need to be accepted, so sooner or
later some of them needs to be refreshed.

But I hope that it's not the case of Qt4, specially since it's not
supposed to change much :)

Heh, good news :)

And don't worry really, I expect that people are reluctant to modify
packages that are obsolete long ago.

I co-maintain libsdl1.2 ones, which have the same problem, obsoleted
since 2012 but still more popular than libsdl2 :(

De nada ;-)

I just sent a request to update symbols of kdeclarative, some packages
will need updates on the Debian side at least.

(I don't say this as a request to fast-track that change, I also added
it to "unreleased" so no rush, but I say this as an example that some
packages of Qt5/KDE5 will need modifications, even if some for some
changes we send directly upstream).

Cheers.

> (QLatin1String(DBUS_SERVICE_DBUS)))

> This clearly does not looks ok. Probably a mistake?

I changed this because the compilation fails otherwise:

../../include/QtCore/../../src/corelib/arch/qatomic_generic.h:197:49:
error: invalid conversion from 'const void*' to 'void*' [-fpermissive]
 return QBasicAtomicPointer_testAndSetOrdered(pointer.voidp,
expectedValue, newValue);

../../include/QtCore/../../src/corelib/arch/qatomic_generic.h:108:20:
note: initializing argument 3 of 'bool
QBasicAtomicPointer_testAndSetOrdered(void* volatile*, void*,
 void*)'
 Q_CORE_EXPORT bool QBasicAtomicPointer_testAndSetOrdered(void *
volatile *, void *, void *);

Indeed the definition in "qatomic_generic" is void*,

./src/corelib/arch/qatomic_generic.h:Q_CORE_EXPORT bool
QBasicAtomicPointer_testAndSetOrdered(void * volatile *, void *, void
*);

And that line that I patch is the only one that uses "const QString"
instead of non-const:

$ rgrep 'Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(.*QString' .
./src/gui/embedded/qwindowsystem_qws.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(QString,
defaultMouse, (QLatin1String("Auto")))
./src/gui/embedded/qwindowsystem_qws.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(QString,
defaultKeyboard, (QLatin1String("TTY")))
./src/dbus/qdbusservicewatcher.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(QString,
busService, (QLatin1String(DBUS_SERVICE_DBUS)))
./src/dbus/qdbusservicewatcher.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(QString,
busInterface, (QLatin1String(DBUS_INTERFACE_DBUS)))
./src/dbus/qdbusservicewatcher.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(QString,
signalName, (QLatin1String("NameOwnerChanged")))
./src/dbus/qdbusintegrator.cpp:Q_GLOBAL_STATIC_WITH_ARGS(const
QString, orgFreedesktopDBusString, (QLatin1String(DBUS_SERVICE_DBUS)))

The alternative would be to use -fpermissive globally, I think, but
this would mask other similar problems, so I patched that one and it
was the only such problematic line in the whole code.

My best guess is that no other [popular] platforms are using "generic"
but its own, so this code is never compiled in Debian for other arches
and thus it doesn't fail, it's a latent error in code of unused
code-paths.

I somehow prefer to use generic, because there's no point in low-level
porting Qt4 at this point.

Cheers.

Hi,

2017-06-24 23:17 Adrian Bunk:

Source: signond
Version: 8.59-1
Severity: serious
Tags: buster sid

Some recent change in unstable makes signond FTBFS:

https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/history/signond.html
https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/unstable/amd64/signond.html

FWIW I was able to build for riscv64 updating symbols with
pkgkde-symbolshelper (update for all arches), debdiff attached.

ia64 and riscv64 are the only ones built recently though.

Cheers.

Bug#899020: qtbase-opensource-src: Please disable gdb build-dependency on riscv64

2018-05-18 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Source: qtbase-opensource-src
Version: 5.9.2+dfsg-12
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: debian-ri...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: riscv64

Hi,

This package depends on gdb, which is not available yet in Debian for the
riscv64 architecture.

We're generally reluctant to ask to disable dependencies specifically for this
architecture, because we hope to get them available in a reasonable timeframe.

However, since it might take a while to get support for riscv64 upstream in gdb
and then in Debian, it is probably better to disable this build-dependency in
riscv64 for the time being, to avoid having to upload packages to "unreleased"
after each upload from you to unstable, or transitions from other libraries that
involve this package.

If we don't do that, packages [transitively] build-depending on this one cannot
be built, since some dependencies cannot be fulfilled, like this one (random
example):

  misc/pgmodeler_0.9.1-1 [optional:out-of-date:calprio{47}:days{3}]
   Reasons for BD-Uninstallable:
pgmodeler build-depends on:
- qtbase5-dev:riscv64
qtbase5-dev depends on:
- libqt5core5a:riscv64 (= 5.10.1+dfsg-5+0.riscv64.1)
libqt5core5a depends on missing:
- libicu57:riscv64 (>= 57.1-1~)

It would be great if you could include these changes in your next release to
unstable.

Thanks and cheers.

Bug#901566: qtwebkit: Please add support for architecture "riscv64"

2018-06-14 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Source: qtwebkit
Version: 2.3.4.dfsg-9.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream
User: debian-ri...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: riscv64

Hi,

I know that you want this package removed soonish [1].

  [1] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=876905

However, until it gets removed from the archive and because still many packages
directly build-depend on it, it's a problem for new ports, because it blocks a
substantial part of the archive from being built.

I cannot recall all the packages right now, since I was working on this a few
weeks ago and had to stop for a bit, but it blocks many dozens or hundreds of
packages among direct and indirect packages, sometimes very remotely related to
this source package, but nevertheless affected.

We have this package in the suite "unreleased"; as long as there are no more
uploads, we're good. But if there are new uploads with version >= 9.2, it can
break things for us.

So please consider including support for this architecture by applying the
attached patch if you upload new versions.

BTW, I think that we already submitted support for this upstream (or if not,
we'll do it over the next weeks), but I suspect that this package will not get
new upstream releases, so adding the patch directly is the only option in this
case.

Thanks and cheers.

Bug#904688: qttools-opensource-src: FTBFS: please drop the libclang-dev B-D on some architectures

Hi,

Hi Thorsten!

El jue., 26 de jul. de 2018 14:03, Thorsten Glaser escribió:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=qttools-opensource-src

LLVM/clang simply is not available for many Debian architectures
as it’s not portable. Please drop the B-D for these architectures.

I haven't looked at the code but it seems that this dependency is now
required in order to build qdoc, so reducing the severity to wishlist.

I don't know if it's possible at all to build everything but qdoc. And the
effect of this could be many packages starting to FTBFS.

This page states that:

 http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/gettingstarted.html

Note: From Qt 5.11, QDoc requires clang from LLVM 3.9 for parsing C++
header and source files, and for parsing the function signatures in
\fn commands. See Installing clang for QDoc for details.

However, if it can be built without these doc tools, for example using
Adrian's patch, it would be very nice to try.

Not sure if it will break many packages (for these arches), packages
might assume that qdoc tools are there, but the alternative is at least
equally bad, and potentially worse.

I think that this is similar to the case discussed in #897667, not being
able to build qt4-x11 makes big portions of the archive unbuildable,
many thousands of packages. Not being able to build
qttools-opensource-src will have a similar effect, I think.

Cheers.

OK, sounds fair, whatever the solution is implemented.

I was using codesearch.d.n and there are 83 that match "qdoc":
https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=%5CWqdoc%5CW

Probably not all of these will actually use it for building (maybe
they will only test if available, and will generate an empty package
or something), others might do it only on -indep as Adrian says.
Almost certainly it will break some package.

At that point we can intervene and explain to maintainers, or provide
patches, for them to build it as -indep, so it's a win also for the
wide Debian project (building -indep when possible, saving resources,
etc).

The packages matching the search contain code matching *.qdoc for
example, not all necessarily invoke qdoc. Maybe one can restrict the
query to calls of qdoc from d/rules, but I think that there will be
indirect ways to use qdoc (like "make" in docs dir or something).

Anyway, maybe I am misunderstanding the problem, but as I understand
it (don't know for sure) is that qdoc was there for a long time, it's
not a new thing, and what changed is that it now uses llvm/clang to
parse and generate doc instead of some internal code or other external
parsers. And the breakage for some ports is that not all of them have
support in llvm/clang, whereas presumably what they used before was
OK.

That's more or less what I said, in other words. I am convinced that
it will cause some breakage, because not all packages are perfect or
because of corner cases, only that uncovering the breakage is probably
a good thing in most or all cases, alerting about wrong practices.

while I'm not part of the Debian Qt/KDE team anymore, I can tell you this
patch shouldn't be included because apparently it just silents the debug
output of kbuilsycoca4 which doesn't seem very appropiate.

However not everything are bad news for you: to fix your problem, you just can
execute "kdebugdialog" and disabled the debug output. Disabling it patching
kdelibs like that isn't a good solution because some people needs to inspect
the kDebug() output of their programs, besides, as you can see, you can just
turn it off.

Well, given that not everybody is allowed to be a member of your team and also
not everybody is allowed to be a member of the debian project (which is
probably one of the most closed free software projects around there, with an
unneccesarily large and complicated process to become a member) you shouldn't
complain about your lack of manpower, you just asked for it.

Bug#735057: konqueror: Please use (also) WebKit as backend

2014-01-12 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.11.3-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I reported a problem (copied below) about being unable to see correctly a web
site with Konqueror (works perfectly with Firefox and Chrome), in:

  https://discuss.makeplaylive.com/t/forum-website-not-working-in-konqueror/29/2

My original post (does not show a blank page now, more info at bottom):

https://discuss.makeplaylive.com/

In Konqueror, shows a blank page.

Aaron Seigo's reply (for those for whome the name does not ring a bell, he is
one of the most prominent upstream developers of KDE, and admin of that forum):

Yes, KHTML is way behind the times. There is exactly nothing we can or will do
about that. Please use a webkit based browser such as Rekonq (Konqueror can use
the webkit part, btw), Chrome, Firefox..

Rekonq doesn't seem available in Debian (was present a while ago but removed).

Arora (using webkit) doesn't show anything either, but the last version is
~1.5/2 years old and seems dead upstream.

I repeated with Konqueror and the front page is not blank, but when installing
kpart-webkit package and selecting it as backend in Konqueror ("General" ->
"Default web browser engine"), the support for websites that I generally use is
much better, and the zoom of the pages much more useful than with the default
KHTML renderer.

So I thought that it would be useful to pass on this information to the Debian
maintainers in the case that you are not aware, because if Aaron recommends to
use Webkit as a backend and it's possible to use Konqueror with it by default,
maybe we should switch the backend, or switch the default, suggest/recommend
kpart-webkit in the dependencies, or provide alternative packages using the
different backends (konqueror-khtml and konqueror-webkit), for example.

Hope that helps.

> webkit as you mentioned. Are you suggesting that we switch the default?

Hmm, it can be a bit confusing, yes.

What I meant is that if one of the devels behind KDE recommends to use
Webkit backend as a default for Konqueror, perhaps in Debian we should
be more proactive to make it the default. I don't know if there will
be people insisting on using the KHTML one, though.

To achieve this, probably the easiest solution would be
Require-ing|Recommend-ing kpart-webkit. The users then can still
select which backend they want from the "General" options of
Konqueror, but at least Webkit is selected as default when the package
is installed (I think).

The package konqueror currently does not even Depend|Recommend|Suggest
kpart-webkit at the moment, so I expect that most users don't even
know that Debian actually supports Webkit as renderer for Konqueror,
nor there are clear suggestions on how to achieve this (as far as I
know).

So the subject meant to say "arrange things in a way that users use
only webkit, or webkit by default, or at least as an option" without
having to fiddle with the system too much (e.g. install new packages
that are not even recommended).

Cheers.

Bug#838208: libiodbc2 FTCBFS: uses build architecture pkg-config

2017-10-31 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Cheers.

Hi,

Please enable this architecture, with the patch attached or an equivalent.

I built it locally on hardware, it built fine just by enabling the architecture
in debian/control, no other changes needed.

(For that matter, I suppose that all architectures could be enabled, there
doesn't seem to be any reason for this package to be restricted to specific
architectures).

Hi Marcos,

please don't report upstream KDE bugs to Debian BTS. It doesn't help us to
improve the packages and packaging bugs may be buried by the miriad of upstream
bug reports, I hope you understand. Thank you.

Hi Jim, the bug is already filed in upstream. You might want to comment on kde

Bug#656914: kdelibs5-dev: causes kaffeine to FTBFS with current xine-lib

2012-05-12 Thread José Manuel Santamaría Lema
severity 656914 important
tags 656914 + pending

Hello,

the FTBFS you have mentioned may happens only if we switch the libxine-dev
build depend to libxine2-dev, therefore I'm downgrading the severity of this
bug to "important". Feel free to raise it again to serious if you remove the
old version xine-lib.

In any case this bug is fixed in kde4libs 4.8 so I'm marking it as pending as
well. It's not fixed making the cmake script use pkg-config like you suggested,
but the important bit is that it doesn't use the depreceted xine-config
anymore.

This thing by itself is not what is producing the problem, I can just
uninstall libicu48, get the same "Unable to load library icui18n" and kmail
works, because qt4 can work even if it doesn't dlopen libicu; so it must be
something else.

Also I'm downgrading the severity of this bug since looks like it doesn't
affect everybody.

Interest in maintaining razor-qt and qtdesktop utils under this group?

2012-07-22 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Hello,

I am preparing packages for razor-qt [1], and in the future I plan to
look into applications pointed to by qtdesktop [2] that are not
packaged for Debian yet.

[1] http://www.razor-qt.org/
[2] http://www.qtdesktop.org/

I don't know if this Qt/KDE team would be interested in them or if you
would prefer to keep the focus mostly on KDE, and do not want the
extra noise caused by these effort.

Cheers.

Bug#688801: kde-window-manager: Incorrect Build-conflict against libgles2-mesa-dev

2012-09-26 Thread José Manuel Santamaría Lema
Hello Martin,

the build conflict right now is correct because kwin isn't linked against
opengl es 2.0 on purpose and if we build the package with libgles2-mesa-dev
fails to build because of a missing file.

Another slightly different thing is if we should enable the open gl es stuff in
kwin(I think we should do it one of these days). This is why I disabled the
opengl es some months ago (copied from an IRC log):

[08 Abr 2012] [18:27:03]pinotree: if I understand it correctly: in
kde 4.8 kwin gles can be built at the same time that normal kwin, however it
won't be run unless the user goes to a terminal and writes kwin_gles -replace.
in the future the compositing stuff in kwin may be a plugin so the gles
compositing would be loaded if open gl es is working
[Dom 08 Abr 2012] [18:31:45] * pinotree expects a conclusion
[snip]
[Dom 08 Abr 2012] [18:35:23]pinotree: so I think it makes sense to
adopt the "drop the gless stuff" proposed by you. we can add packages for kwin
gles later, I'd need to check if what the ubuntu guys did makes sense, but we
have better things to do imo[1]

In my first message, is it my guess right or am I missing something? How does
it work in 4.9? I mean, does it load the opengl es compositing automatically
if possible?

[1]The "better things to do" were packaging the rest of the KDE SC, so finally
I didn't have time to work on this thing again since that IRC conversation.

Hash: SHA1

I was suffering this bug for a long time (6 months). Yesterday I removed
all pulseaudio packages (with the exception of the essential libraries,
libpulse0, etc.) and now kmix seems to work well.

The reason I installed pulseaudio some time ago was my sound card (HDA
Intel) wasn't well supported by 2.6 kernels until recently, and Phonon
failed sometimes complaining that no ALSA souncard was available.

All in all, I got rid of PulseAudio and everything seems to work well now.

Bug#265795: kdm does not allow user login

2004-08-14 Thread Juan Manuel Garcia Molina
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.3.0-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch

Hi.

After today's sid upgrade, I discovered that kdm does not allow the user
login.

Few investigation later, I realized the error was on
/etc/kde3/kdm/Xsession. The version in KDE 3.2.x packages invoked
general X11 session file, while the one in KDE 3.3.0 appears to be
upstream file.

As an obvious solution, I reverted the file to 3.2.x version, and it
appears to work.

There is a really silly patch attached.

Regards,
Juanma.
