Bug#748533: Okular does not print.

2014-05-17 Thread dE

Package: okular
Version: 4:4.8.4-3+b1
Severity: important

I've Okular installed on my xfce desktop system, and on printing, after
I print the print button, Okular hangs for a while and then it's ok, but
there's no Cups print job generated.

Bug#649614: kdebase-runtime: KDE session fails to start with libpulse0 1.0-4

2011-11-23 Thread dE .

On 11/22/11 23:28, Braun Gábor wrote:

Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.6.5-1+b1
Severity: serious

Justification: Policy 3.5

By starting a KDE session from KDM, the splash screen appears
but after the first icon appears, the screen becomes black.
I couldn't to switch to another terminal,
however pressing the power button causes the system to properly shut down.

After examining .xsession-errors,
the message
"(libpulsecommon-1.1.so: nem nyitható meg a megosztott objektumfájl: Nincs ilyen
fájl vagy könyvtár)"
ie libpulsecommon-1.1.so does not exist.
I have upgraded libpulse0 to 1.1, and since then the session starts normally.

I suspect that kdebase-runtime need to require libpulse version 1.1.

Best wishes,

Gábor Braun

How can I tell kdm to start plasma-desktop with

This way we could see what was causing the problem, is it user specific

Bug#650282: Audio CD is not detected by solid.

2011-11-28 Thread dE .

Package: libsolid4
Version: 4:4.6.5-2+b1

I'm not sure if this's a solid issue or a device notifier issue, but
currently, inserting auto CDs has no affect on device notifier, even
phonon ignores it (i.e. phonon applications do not play the ACD).
However kio location audiocd:/// works as expected.

Other applications open and play the ACD fine.

All this works on Gentoo.

Compositing: I guess so, if I go to System Settings -> Desktop effects

1. the first time I tried to re-open the desktop effects settings, KDE

I attach dmesg.txt but I guess that it's relatively useless.

The syslog states that it's from november, but your folder names suggest
December.

Can you attach the syslog just after the crash after booting from a live

point the issue in the log.

Apart form this, search for files containing string dpkg-new in your system.

When you press SHIFT+ALT+F12 to deactivate effects screen is showed correctly.

Dear Maintainer,

After recent upgrade of packages sound stopped working. Sound control in KDE

output device. My real device "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" (internal
soundcard in my Intel chipset) is greyed out.

This occurs on both my laptop and desktop (both Intel, but different chipsets
otherwise). I tried booting into an old kernel, but it hasn't changed anything.
I haven't seen anything suspicious in the log files (but I don't know what I am
looking for).

an continue working. During the transport the sleep-LED (a half moon) is
on, the system is suspended to ram, not to disk.

Every now an then plasma-desktop segfaults when i open the notebook.
Plasma-desktop gets restarted instantly, so i can continue working.
Still, it sucks.

It segfaults about one time in three, the time in hibernation doesn't
seem to matter.

I run my own Kernel, but have the same problem with Debian testings Kernel.

The program crashed. You need to provide a backtrace.

Also see if there's a new package in backports.

Hello,

after upgrading from Squeeze i have a problem with the sidebars.

I am using a sidebar to add program icons for quickstart into a
separate sidebar.

This looks normally like smallsp

Also, don't you think, the size of the icons can't be changed when you
enlarge the height of the panel?

As of this bug, you cant move (or slide) the icons?

Why didn't you upgrade okular too? Also,

The buguous scenario was the following :

I just installed okular, and experienced this bug. I guess (almost) no
kde-related packages were already installed on this machine.

ii libokularcore1 4:4.6.5-3libraries for the

document

why this old version (not stable, and not testing either)?

I am using a mixed setup. I can provide the preferences settings if
you wish/need.

Ok, the dependencies should be enough (and will be fixed so
frankenstein like yours won't happen anymore), but why not upgrade
all the okular packages together, and not keep them up-to-date with
testing?

Please stay polite.
Yes, my setup is not updated every day ; I run an update every one or
two months.
However, even with an out-of-date setup, I guess I should not
experience this bug. Should I ?

D.

Any particular reason why you're installing libraries from testing?

You should prefer Okular from the stable branch first, then from the
backports and then from testing.

Bug#682235: dolphin: opens multiple instances of a program when opening multiple files

2012-07-22 Thread dE .

On 07/20/12 20:18, Gustavo wrote:

Package: dolphin
Version: 4:4.8.4-1

Dear Maintainer,

Since upgraded to 4.8, Dolphin no longer arranges media files in a playlist, to
be opened in a single
instance of a program. For example, if you select 15 mp3s and press enter, it
will open 15 Totem windows
instead of a window with the 15 files queued. If, however, you select the same
files, right-click and
select "open with -> totem", it works as expected.

It seems to be a regression, since this exact behaviour figured in 4.4 and was
fixed in 4.6, if I recall
correctly.

If I understand correctly, this's not something which's the
responsibility of Dolphin, instead I think, Totem is to blame. It's the

including LibreOffice.

On my 6+ year old laptop, both these applications (Dolphin and Kwrite)
open within a few seconds so the problem is a strange one indeed.. As
the software between the two PCs is identical as far as I can tell.

It *MIGHT* have something to do with NTFS partitions on the local

partition on that PC. Does anybody else have NTFS partitions on the
local machine and finding that Dolphin or kwrite takes several minutes
to open every time? Or somebody who don't have swap partitions finding
it takes minutes to open dolphin or kwrite?

Situations are a bit different here; loading to KDE environment takes
too long (a lot of I/O), but on other systems (Debian for instances),
this's not so even with the same version of KDE.

After that lancelot also takes a lot of time for the 1st opening.

I recently installed wheezy KDE on my laptop. I am used to manage my passwords

start it via ALT-F2 or start if from command line, I don't see any GUI.

Bug#690352: Device notifier's scroll misbehaves.

2012-10-12 Thread dE .

Package: kdeplasma-addons
Version: 4:4.8.4-1

The scroll of device notifier misbehaves. Try scrolling up when the
scroll bar is at the upper most position. The problem is more than this
and is difficult to explain in text.

This's fully reproducible when it's configured to show all devices and
placed on the desktop and there're a lot of devices. It's more
reproducible with a touchpad.

As far as I know, this problem is with knotify4, I faced this when
playing SOF with OSS emulation.

Killing knotify4 once solves the problem.

Bug#1103507: kde-spectacle=6.3.4-1 cannot screencast.

2025-04-18 Thread dE
Package: kde-spectacle
Version: 6.3.4-1
Severity: normal

Screencasting does not work with spectacle, it doesn't matter what
format you choose, it won't work.
Journalctl results in 'Failed to export video: Temporary file URL must
be an existing local file'. The same error message is produced on the
GUI as soon as you terminate the video recording. kde-plasma-desktop
was installed in an attempt to install KDE on a fresh Debian trixie
install.

Coincidentally, even the thumbnails preview in taskbar is not working
-- the root cause maybe the same, because both use pipewire.

Both of these features work with KDE neon live CDs suggesting a
package build configuration issue.

Hint -- This is seconded by the fact that I've been facing similar
issues on Gentoo (where the build configuration is equivalent to USE
configuration) where screencasting and thumbnail preview is not
working only for my setup. There are plenty of Gentoo users for whom
it's working, each of whom have different build configuration.

(ConditionUser=!@system).
drkonqi-coredump-launcher.socket: Unit needs to be started because
active unit sockets.target upholds it, but not starting since we tried
this too often recently. Will retry later.

First this must not be enabled for all users. Some users are not using
GUI or QT applications at all. In my case, this dependency was pulled
by plasma-workspace.

This can't even be disabled because --
# systemctl --user disable drkonqi-coredump-launcher.socket
The following unit files have been enabled in global scope. This means
they will still be started automatically after a successful disablement
in user scope:
drkonqi-coredump-launcher.socket

This has to be masked for the root user.

Why are some 4.13 packages uploaded to unstable and others to experimental?

2014-05-26 Thread Diederik de Haas
Hi!

I've seen quite a number of msgs about 4.13 package being uploaded to the
Debian archives (thanks!) in the last couple of days.
But I also noticed that some are uploaded to unstable, while others are
uploaded to experimental. Why is that?
For example baloo is uploaded to experimental, while kde-runtime is uploaded
to unstable (and most/all kdepim packages to experimental).

Cheers,
  Diederik

Bug#783371: kde4libs: FTBFS if pdebuild issued in source directory

2015-04-26 Thread Francesco De Vita
Source: kde4libs
Version: 4:4.14.2-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I tried to recompile the source package kde4libs with cowbuilder/pbuilder but
I'm encountering the issue described in the following.

The config file ~/.pbuilderrc is correctly configured and I already used
cowbuilder to build other debian packages without problems.

The source package is downloaded with `apt-get source kde4libs' from Jessie
repository.

Using:

> $ sudo -E DIST=jessie ARCH=amd64 cowbuilder --build \
> kde4libs_4.14.2-5.dsc

the building process succeeds. But using instead pdebuild against the source
directory:

> $ sudo -E DIST=jessie ARCH=amd64 pdebuild --pbuilder cowbuilder

the build process fails [1] and it seems due to unsolvable build
dependencies/conflicts.

I did another try using pdbuilder without cowbuilder and with a clean local
pbuilder chroot system, but using pdebuild against the source directory leads
to the same error. I thought it was a problem with the build-deps so I did
other tests trying different `--pbuildersatisfydepends' options and also
manually installing the build-deps in the local pbuilder chroot system, but
unfortunately the same issue remains.

Thank you, best regards
Francesco

Shouldn't that be unstable instead of experimental?
(since I've seen a massive upload of kf5 packages to unstable in recent days)

Bug#900997: Different message asking for password?

2018-09-24 Thread Steven De Herdt
Hello folks

At the moment, this bug prevents a freshly installed buster with KDE as

authentication is clarified, would that be enough to at least lower the
severity of this bug below RC?

Is there anything still blocking this?

The new poppler is in unstable, so this happens on the buildds now. Raising

Bug#900997: print-manager: probability of package in buster?

Dear maintainers

If a patch providing Antonio's proposed stop-gap message is provided, is
it still possible for print-manager to get into buster? In that case, I
may possibly try to hack something like that.

Bug#883435: akonadi-backend-postgresql: akonadictl start fails with Postgresql 10 installed, likely needs a rebuild

2017-12-03 Thread Diederik de Haas
Package: akonadi-backend-postgresql
Version: 4:17.08.0-1
Severity: important

Now that qt does support Postgresql 10 (#876421) I upgraded my
Postgresql packages to 10 and migrated the cluster (from 9.6).
After that I did 'akonadictl start' and noticed it was still using
Postgresql 9.6. So I purged that (and rebooted) and after that, akonadi
didn't want to start anymore. For some reason it's explicitly trying to
use pg_ctl from 9.6, but it should use the 10 version.

Konsole output:

$ akonadictl start
Connecting to deprecated signal
QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Could not start database server!
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: executable: "/usr/lib/postgresql/9.6/bin/pg_ctl"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: arguments: ("start", "-w", "--timeout=10",
"--pgdata=/home/diederik/.local/share/akonadi/db_data", "-o
\"-k/tmp/akonadi-diederik.IOXa0T\" -h ''")
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: process error: "execvp: No such file or directory"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Failed to remove runtime connection config file
org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application 'akonadiserver' exited normally...

So my guess is that akonadi-backend-postgresql needs to be rebuild so
that it gets linked to the current Postgresql version, which is 10 (in
both testing and sid).

(Even better would be if it would use the most recent version, but that
may be stretching it)

Cheers,
  Diederik

But there is always http://snapshot.debian.org which allows you to go back to

If you want stability you should use Debian Stable.

If you want to use Testing or Sid, you should expect that things can break
*and* be able to cope with that. If you're not yet there, but willing to
learn, there are resources for that (#debian-next f.e.) and you should learn
your way around your package manager. If you don't want to upgrade to -12, you
hold your packages at -10, it really isn't that hard.

Whining surely isn't helping anyone.

I've raised the severity as it will break most ppls desktop and now ppl should
get warned through apt-listbug

I do have Recommends enabled, but libqt5xcbqpa5 did not get installed and that
broke my Plasma Desktop rather severly. Installing that package fixed it.
This bug was pointed out to me so I found the solution rather quickly, but
others probably won't be so lucky. And now that ppl should get warned, that
would hopefully reduce the flooding of bug reports ;-)

Package: libqt5x11extras5

5.5.1-2 today on Stretch, sddm doesn't start and the Plasma 5 session
doesn't start either, also if launched with another display

segfault. Downgrading libqt5x11extras5 to 5.4.2-2+b1 is a workaround
