It is regression from kdm. I have a user with uid less than 1000 and
it is not listed in sddm. kdm was perfect, gdm3 had an option to
enter, but sddm is unusable for me. Same would be for root login.

If you have users with an uid lower than 1000 you need to create an
/etc/sddm.conf file with:

[Users]
MinimumUid=100

See to sddm.conf(5) manpage for more options.

It is worse than that :
I am on a system with more then 900 users, sddm does not even present
all of them : I cannot log in.

PS: this is more a bug of the default sddm them (sddm-theme-breeze),
but I cannot find a way t change it when ssh connected.

You can either install a different theme and remove the sddm-theme-breeze
package or, without removing sddm-theme-breeze, set your prefered theme in
the /etc/sddm.conf file under:

[Theme]
Current=maui

I was expecting kcrash to catch a kmail crash and show a window with the
backtrace information, if that's not the case, then running kmail under gdb
should give something similar:

$ gdb kmail
[ ... ]
(gdb) r
[ ... Wait for the crash ... ]
(gdb) thread apply all backtrace

This is better explained in:

Bug#833834: knotes: Knotes move on mouse release.

2016-08-09 Thread Andy Wood
Package: knotes
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

For every other KDE application, when I want to move a window, left clicking
on the title bar still shows the window as I move it to a new position. This
does not work in knotes. The move happens, but there is no feedback on
window position as the move is taking place. This makes it very difficult
to accurately position a knotes note.

Bug#833835: knotes: Knotes does not use font configutaion for existing notes.

2016-08-09 Thread Andy Wood
Package: knotes
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

My default font settings for Knotes is as follows:

Knotes > Settings > Editor
Title font = Noto Sans 10 - bold italic
Text font = Oxygen-Sans 10 - Sans-Book

Creating a note with this works fine. I then shutdown Knotes and restart it
and my notes come up with the following font settings:

Title font = Noto Sans 10 - regular
Text font = Noto Sans 10 - regular

Configuration information is obviously not being used to display notes.

2016-08-09 Thread Andy Wood
Package: knotes
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After the recent migration to 16.04, existing Knotes notes were displayed
simply as a black window. This seemed to be because the Display Settings
of the notes were undeffined. Setting the Text colour to black and the
Background colour to yellow, for each note, restored their visibility.

I'm changing the severity as it's a minor ui annoyance.

This is an upstream issue, specific to the way the drag event is handled in
knotes. Please, if possible, report it upstream in https://bugs.kde.org/
(you'll need a bugzilla user in kde.org) and add the upstream bug url to this
report with the debbugs command:
 forwarded -1 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=YYY

Replacing YYY with the corresponding kde bug number. You can send this
command replying to this mail and adding the command in the start of the
message prepending Control:, as done in this mail for the severity and tags
change.

As a workaround, you can still use the regular kwin window drag, dragging the
window while you keep alt pressed.

Each note has a title and body font, the default settings are used to create
new notes. You need to access the note preferences with right click on the
note title, Preferences to change the font for a particular note.

This seems to me that it's working as intended, if you think otherwise, please
report this issue upstream (following the indications mentioned in the
previous bug report), otherwise I think that this report can be closed.

This would mean that the notes are not being correctly migrated to the new
version. This bug is important for us. Once again, if possible, please report
the issue upstream using bugs.kde.org and, if you do so, please also add the
corresponding forwarded information in this report, as explained in the

Perhaps I did not explain this very well.
New notes are created with the default font settings shown above (Title font =
Noto Sans 10 - bold italic, Text font = Oxygen-Sans 10 - Sans-Book). On
restart the notes are then displayed with different font settings (Title font
= Noto Sans 10 - regular, Text font = Noto Sans 10 - regular). Nothing was
changed apart from restarting knotes. The default font settings used to
create notes are not being saved with notes.

I've not installed baloo search for indexing, but in dolphin there are items
in
resource panel like "recently saved" (today, yesterday, this month...) and
"search"
(documents, images...). Since they don't work for me I was right clicking to
hide,
but when doing this resource panel become suddenly empty; restarting dolphin
restores
all items.

Bug#833899: kmail: cannot change view of header - menu not available

2016-08-09 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Package: kmail
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

with the latest kmail it is not possible, to edit the view of the headers in
mail.
In fact, there is also missing the complete header (is not shown at all), as
well as the
top bar (the one, where you can sort date, sender, receiver and so on). This
one is also missing.

After the update I had to configure kmail new, if this is a setting problem by
myself, please let me know.

NOTE: This behaviour only appears on my amd64-system, the 32-bit version is
working perfectly.

Thank you for any hints, tips and help!

Best regards

Hans-J. Ullrich

This happens because ...

> pn kdepim-addons

... this is not installed, so installing it will make the headers appear
(and be customized) again. Also this is a duplicate of #832516, so
please followup there instead of this bug.

Thank you for your report,
