Bug#491752: kde4: No Desktop

The problem was that kdelibs5/4:4.0.84-1, which was the last version that was uploaded to experimental, was not upgraded to the latest version in unstable (currently 4:4.0.98+svn833207-1). I did this then manually with apt-get install -t unstable kdelibs5 and all is back to normal now. This also fixed the "Could not find the Okular component."-issue I had with okular. Bug#492011: please fix comment about -nolisten tcp
Package: kdm Version: 3.5.9.dfsg.1-4 Would you mind to fix the comment in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc about ServerArgsLocal? AFAICS the default is _not_ "" but "-nolisten tcp", even if you comment out the local setting in this file. This is highly confusing. reassign 489734 kdm thanks [Maximilian Attems] wrote: > it *must* work in Kubuntu. > usplash in debian does not deviate from ubuntu part. I asked on #debian-kde, and http://paste.debian.net/12462/> was mentioned, stopping usplash before starting kdm. It might be a better idea to use the splash screen api provided by initscripts, ie splash_stop() from /lib/init/splash-functions-base. Something like this added just before starting kdm should work: . /lib/init/splash-functions-base splash_stop Any hope of having this fixed very soon, and in time for Lenny? This issue is very important for Debian Edu. We had to drop usplash as a quickfix to get the system working at all.
