Bug#312885: kdebase-kio-plugins: copying files to and from remote filesystems (e.g. fish:/, sftp:/, smb:/) does not preserve timestamps
Package: kdebase-kio-plugins Version: 4:3.3.1-2 Severity: normal Hi, When copying a file between machines using e.g. konqueror or krusader and a remote filesystem like sftp://, the file's modification date is not preserved as it would be for a local copy. This has been verified at least using fish://, sftp:// and smb:// and in KDE version 3.3 as well as 3.4.1. Cheers, Cameron. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-rc3-cjp-kant Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kdebase-kio-plugins depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.2-1 KDE core libraries ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-6 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-6client library to control the FAM ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 0.5.2-3GNU libidn library, implementation ii libjpeg62 6b-9 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libldap2 2.1.30-3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpcre3 4.5-1.1Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libpng12-01.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.3-8 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm64.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System Session Management ii libsmbclient 3.0.8-2shared library that allows applica ii libstdc++51:3.3.5-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System protocol client li ii libxcursor1 1.1.3-1X cursor management library ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7X Rendering Extension client libra ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g1:1.2.2-3 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#312896: kdebase-kio-plugins: kio plugins does not report file modification date/time correctly
Package: kdebase-kio-plugins Version: 4:3.4.1-1 Severity: normal fish:// reports file timestamps as being 8 hours in the past, smb:// reports file timestamps as being 8 hours in the future. Since my timezone is Western Australian, i.e. GMT +0800, it appears that one is incorrectly subtracting local time and one is incorrectly adding it. The smb:// issue may well be a bug in libsmbclient. I can reproduce this problem KDE 3.3 and KDE 3.4.1, as well as GNOME. The fish:// issue appears to be new in KDE 3.4.1. KDE 3.3.1 returns the date correctly.
