Bug#295232: adding kio_svn to kdebase-kio-plugins

2005-02-14 Thread Jonas
Package: kdebase-kio-plugins
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: wishlist

kdevelop's subversion plugin uses kio_svn, and the logical place for it to be
is i guess in
kdebase-kio-plugins.

Bug#295265: kopete: Crashes with new ICQ-version

2005-02-14 Thread Michael Holtermann
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: normal

ICQ releases a new version of their client last week. A chat with partners
using this new version (under Windows) causes Kopete to crash. Sorry, no
backtrace
available...

It seems that ICQ uses a new version of their protocol that Kopete does
not understand yet. The messages are readable with ethereal, so no
encryption is used by the new client.

It would be glad to see Kopete supporting the new ICQ.

TIA!
Greetings, Michael.

Bug#295286: kppp: put wrong password to pap-secrets

2005-02-14 Thread Alexander N. Kogan
Package: kppp
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

Kppp writes wrong password to pap-secrets when I use password contained
non-alphanumeric characters.
For example, for password user: test password: "` it writes
"test" ""`"
instead of
"test" '\"\`'

Bug#295286: kppp: put wrong password to pap-secrets

I've tryed to reproduce the bug but kppp stores the password
in .kde/share/config/kppprc instead of *-secrets here and stores the password
correctly:
Name=my_connection
Password="`

How have you managed to get kppp to store the password in *-secrets? It
shouldn't touch that files (and it shouldn't have permission to edit them if
you just add a user to the "dip" group and run kppp with that user).

Best regards

kppp is now SUID root by default. When it runs, it splits into a privileged
backend and an unprivileged frontend. The SUID backend actually
renames /etc/ppp/*-secrets, and creates its own versions of those files,
filling them with the password information stored in
~/.kde/share/config/kppprc. On disconnect, it removes these files, and puts
the originals back.

Perhaps the problem occurs when the password is moved to the new *-secrets
file, from kppprc. Incidentally, this looks somewhat related to the
problems of KDE #91235 and #61786.

Cheers,
Christopher Martin
