Bug#295265: kopete: Crashes with new ICQ-version
Package: kopete Version: 4:3.3.2-1 Severity: normal ICQ releases a new version of their client last week. A chat with partners using this new version (under Windows) causes Kopete to crash. Sorry, no backtrace available... It seems that ICQ uses a new version of their protocol that Kopete does not understand yet. The messages are readable with ethereal, so no encryption is used by the new client. It would be glad to see Kopete supporting the new ICQ. TIA! It shouldn't touch that files (and it shouldn't have permission to edit them if you just add a user to the "dip" group and run kppp with that user). When it runs, it splits into a privileged backend and an unprivileged frontend. The SUID backend actually renames /etc/ppp/*-secrets, and creates its own versions of those files, filling them with the password information stored in ~/.kde/share/config/kppprc. On disconnect, it removes these files, and puts the originals back. Perhaps the problem occurs when the password is moved to the new *-secrets file, from kppprc. Incidentally, this looks somewhat related to the problems of KDE #91235 and #61786. Cheers, Christopher Martin pgpNizlG9Bp64.pgp Description: PGP signature
