Re: Bug#248601: marked as done (Non-kde application doesn't appea r in the kde menu)
I have K.D.E 3.2.3 which came with MEPIS CD (SimplyMEPIS-2004.04.iso). When I create Non-KDE application icons using KDE Menu, they disappear after restart of KDE sessions. dpkg --list kdelibs* shows that kdelibs-bin 3.2.3-4 is installed I installed the package kdelibs 3.2.3-2 (note there is no -bin in file name) but no luck. The icon/menu entries disappear after session restart. Rest of the KDE packages installed are as follows: [EMAIL PROTECTED] dpkg -l kde* Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name VersionDescription +++-==-==-== == pn kde (no description available) pn kde-amusements (no description available) pn kde-core(no description available) pn kde-designer(no description available) pn kde-devel (no description available) pn kde-extras (no description available) pn kde-games (no description available) un kde-i18n(no description available) pn kde-i18n-af (no description available) pn kde-i18n-bg (no description available) pn kde-i18n-br (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ca (no description available) pn kde-i18n-cs (no description available) pn kde-i18n-cy (no description available) pn kde-i18n-da (no description available) pn kde-i18n-de (no description available) pn kde-i18n-el (no description available) ii kde-i18n-engb 3.2.3-2British English (en_GB) internationalized (i pn kde-i18n-eo (no description available) pn kde-i18n-es (no description available) pn kde-i18n-et (no description available) pn kde-i18n-eu (no description available) pn kde-i18n-fi (no description available) pn kde-i18n-fr (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ga (no description available) pn kde-i18n-gl (no description available) pn kde-i18n-he (no description available) pn kde-i18n-hr (no description available) pn kde-i18n-hu (no description available) un kde-i18n-is (no description available) pn kde-i18n-it (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ja (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ko (no description available) pn kde-i18n-lt (no description available) pn kde-i18n-lv (no description available) pn kde-i18n-mi (no description available) pn kde-i18n-mk (no description available) pn kde-i18n-nl (no description available) pn kde-i18n-no (no description available) pn kde-i18n-nony (no description available) pn kde-i18n-oc (no description available) pn kde-i18n-pl (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ptbr (no description available) pn kde-i18n-ru (no description available) pn kde-i18n-sr (no description available) pn kde-i18n-sv (no description available) pn kde-i18n-tr (no description available) pn kde-i18n-uk (no description available) pn kde-i18n-wa (no description available) pn kde-i18n-zhcng (no description available) pn kde-i18n-zhtwb (no description available) pn kde-icons-crys (no description available) pn kde-theme-blue (no description available) un kde-theme-liqu (no description available) pn kde-theme-liqu (no description available) un kde-theme-matt (no description available) pn kde-theme-meta (no description available) pn kde-theme-neon (no description available) pn kde-theme-past (no description available) pn kde-theme-swee (no description available) un kde-update-men (no description available) pn kdeaddons (no description available) pn kdeaddons-doc- (no description available) ii kdeaddons-kfil 3.2.3-2KDE file dialog plugins for text files and f pn kdeadmin(no description available) ii kdeadmin-kfile 3.2.3-1KDE File dialog plugins for deb and rpm file pn kdeartwork (no description available) ii kdeartwork-mis 3.2.3-2various multimedia goodies released with KDE pn kdeartwork-scr (no description available) ii kdeartwork-sty 3.2.3-2widget styles released with KDE pn kdeartwork-the (no description available) ii kdeartwork-the 3.2.3-2icon themes released with KDE ii kdeartwork-the 3.2.3-2window decoration themes released with KDE ii kdebase3.2.3-1KDE Base metapack

Bug#238368: kopete: yes, please remove this dependancy
Package: kopete Version: 4:3.3.1-2 Followup-For: Bug #238368 Agreed. Please remove this dependancy. I just manually removed xmms from kopete's entry in /var/lib/status, uninstalled xmms, and kopete works fine. I suspect it may be needed for the Now Listening plugin, but I don't use that, and it should be in another package if it has strange dependancies and is not normally needed. There's no reason to keep a dependancy on xmms. If nothing else, please remove the now listening plugin for now. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-powerpc Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kopete depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.1-1 KDE core libraries ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-6 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-6client library to control the FAM ii libgadu3 1:1.5-4Gadu-Gadu protocol library - runti ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-2 GCC support library ii libglib1.21.2.10-9 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk1.2 1.2.10-17 The GIMP Toolkit set of widgets fo ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 0.5.2-3GNU libidn library, implementation ii libjpeg62 6b-9 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpcre3 4.5-1.1Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libpng12-01.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.3-7 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm64.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++51:3.3.5-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxi64.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System Input extension li ii libxml2 2.6.11-5 GNOME XML library ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxslt1.11.1.8-5XSLT processing library - runtime ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g1:1.2.2-3 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information
New arts package
Hello, I've built a new arts 1.3.2 package, available at http://chrsmrtn.freeshell.org/kde, that removes the suid bit on artswrapper, but adds a README.Debian explaining why, and suggests the user install akode to compensate. If any DDs want to check the package over and upload it, then we can scratch another RC bug off the Sarge TODO list. Feedback welcome. Cheers, Christopher Martin
Bug#284494: KDEInit could not launch 'kwrite'
Package: konqueror Version: 3.3.1 When logged in as a user, if I open Konqueror (File Management) as root, I can not open any files for editing. I get the fillowing error: KDEInit could not launch 'kwrite' This is not a Debian only problem, I see requests for assistance from suse & mandrake users as well. I am using SimplyMEPIS Debian GNU/Linux (testing, but I'm using unstable kdebase & kdm to overcome noticable delays around text bars in browsers & email clients with kds in testing). -- Thanks! Bug#284021: kde: resolution resize from 1280x1024 causes pointer/clickpoint offset

I guess KDE probably does as well; but not necessarily in the same way. (no clue, I'm not a regular KDE user). At any rate, I can no longer duplicate this bug. Spent some time going through the things which used to cause it, and variations thereof. Box has not been rebooted or upgraded since I observed the bug. so you might want to mark this as "cannot duplicate" and close it. -- Carl Soderstrom Systems Administrator Real-Time Enterprises www.real-time.com
