tried that. xrandr requires one to run it manually after each login, or else using a script. I guess KDE probably does as well; but not necessarily in the same way. (no clue, I'm not a regular KDE user). At any rate, I can no longer duplicate this bug. Spent some time going through the things which used to cause it, and variations thereof.
