Bug#242519: Workaround
Chris Cheney wrote: kdepim 3.2.2 is already in sid. If the bug isn't fixed yet it won't likely be fixed anytime soon. That bug seems to imply the upstream author doesn't feel like fixing bugs in the 3.2 branch. Perhaps if you bug him some more he will fix it? Well, I'm not so sure about this. I've got version 4:3.2.2-1 of libkdepim1, kpilot, and korganizer installed but the About dialog of korganizer keeps telling me 'Version 3.2.1 (Using KDE 3.2.2)'. Since the bug (and the workaround) actually concerns korganizer, I'm not sure whether these guys referred to the KDE branch in general or korganizer specifically.

The orig.tar.gz is what was tagged as the release and the debian dir applies a 60KB patch of what changed since it was tagged. The problem appears to be that korganizer doesn't believe in using the VERSION variable from configure instead it sets its own version hardcoded into: korganizer/version.h:static const char korgVersion[] = "3.2.1"; The korganizer maintainer never updated it for KDE 3.2.2 and should be using the variable instead anyway... Bug#245494: ksvg: svgdisplay gets signal 11 on some images
Package: ksvg Version: 4:3.2.2-1 Severity: important Tags: sid Hi, on some SVG images (e. G. the attached one or the SVGAbout.svg that comes with Adobe SVG Plugin) svgdisplay gets killed with signal 11. The DrKonqi backtrace that shows up after the crash seems to be rather useless because of a lack of symbols. I run it under gnome, in a mixed testing/unstable environment. Some of the examples that come with batik squiggle work fine while others display distorted images, but I could not provoke a crash with those of the squggle examples I tried. Yes, look here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=240015 It was reassigned back and forth for some reason and then split and assigned to both. 240015 was left as the juk bug which no longer is relevant. I have a feeling this is going to be one of those "it's not a sexy, bleeding-edge kernel, so nobody cares" bugs, even though it used to work just fine, and I'm just going to have to lose the time it takes to move to 2.6 simply to get the PC speaker working. If anybody has any ideas why "Use system beep instead of playing sounds" is being ignored, please throw them out there... If I move to 2.6, I'll be sure to build in "pcspkr", thanks!

It should still work on 2.4 as well but I don't run 2.4.x anymore since I moved to the amd64 arch. I will try to build a recent 2.4 kernel for my box to see if I can test it. Which 2.4 kernel are you using? Chris signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Works fine from the console, but the kde sounds are now intercepting the system beep. (That wouldn't really bother me in itself, but the onboard audio has never worked. The kernel module loads, but playing sound just creates the famous "via_audio: ignoring drain playback error -11", which doesn't actually tell me what's wrong.) -- I would therefore like to posit that computing's central challenge, viz.
