Bug#242519: Workaround

2004-04-23 Thread Christoph Pohl

kdepim 3.2.2 is already in sid. If the bug isn't fixed yet it won't
likely be fixed anytime soon. That bug seems to imply the upstream
author doesn't feel like fixing bugs in the 3.2 branch. Perhaps if you
bug him some more he will fix it?

Well, I'm not so sure about this.

I've got version 4:3.2.2-1 of libkdepim1, kpilot, and korganizer
installed but the About dialog of korganizer keeps telling me 'Version
3.2.1 (Using KDE 3.2.2)'. Since the bug (and the workaround) actually
concerns korganizer, I'm not sure whether these guys referred to the KDE
branch in general or korganizer specifically.

kdepim in sid is actually even newer that what is tagged as
KDE_3_2_2_RELEASE. The orig.tar.gz is what was tagged as the release
and the debian dir applies a 60KB patch of what changed since it was
tagged.

The problem appears to be that korganizer doesn't believe in using
the VERSION variable from configure instead it sets its own version
hardcoded into:

korganizer/version.h:static const char korgVersion[] = "3.2.1";

The korganizer maintainer never updated it for KDE 3.2.2 and should be
using the variable instead anyway...

The output of

/lib/ld-linux.so.2 \
/usr/lib/libnoatuncontrols.so.0.0.0 | grep ^undefined
shows more than 250 undefined symbols(!!!) in
/usr/lib/libnoatuncontrols.so.0.0.0
I have attached the output in a separate file.

These undefined non-weak symbols should not occur in a shared library
unless the program using the library will provide them itself (which
is not the normal case). The presence of these undefined non-weak
symbols also prevents prelink from working optimally.

Thanks,
Robin

The juk package currently build-depends on gcc-3.2/g++-3.2 instead
of the default gcc/g++ packages/compilers.

Please check if/that the package can be built using the default gcc/g++.
If the packages fails to build, please recheck with the gcc-snapshot
package.

In the case of build failures, please add the preprocessed source to

is removed from the distribution.

Are you sure you've closed the right bug here? While the text makes
sense for the bug it's filed against the i18n package...

Bug#245494: ksvg: svgdisplay gets signal 11 on some images

2004-04-23 Thread Markus Schaber
Package: ksvg
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid

Hi, on some SVG images (e. G. the attached one or the SVGAbout.svg that
comes with Adobe SVG Plugin) svgdisplay gets killed with signal 11.

The DrKonqi backtrace that shows up after the crash seems to be rather
useless because of a lack of symbols.

I run it under gnome, in a mixed testing/unstable environment.

Some of the examples that come with batik squiggle work fine while
others display distorted images, but I could not provoke a crash with
those of the squggle examples I tried.

Can you reproduce the problem?

Yes, look here:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=240015

It was reassigned back and forth for some reason and then split and
assigned to both. 240015 was left as the juk bug which no longer is
relevant.

Bug#244715: "Use system bell" doesn't use system bell (and kills everything else)

I'm running a 2.4 kernel. All was well until KDE 3.2 decided to annihilate
anything in the computer which could make sound. (I wanted a quieter
system, but not this quiet.)

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those "it's not a sexy,
bleeding-edge kernel, so nobody cares" bugs, even though it used to work
just fine, and I'm just going to have to lose the time it takes to move
to 2.6 simply to get the PC speaker working.

If anybody has any ideas why "Use system beep instead of playing sounds" is
being ignored, please throw them out there...

If I move to 2.6, I'll be sure to build in "pcspkr", thanks!

It works perfect here on 2.6.6-rc1 but I had to make sure I had the
pcspkr kernel module loaded first. Beeps at console still work with
KDE running as well.

It should still work on 2.4 as well but I don't run 2.4.x anymore
since I moved to the amd64 arch. I will try to build a recent 2.4
kernel for my box to see if I can test it. Which 2.4 kernel are you
using?

2.4.22, and kde from unstable. Works fine from the console, but the kde
sounds are now intercepting the system beep. (That wouldn't really bother
me in itself, but the onboard audio has never worked. The kernel module
loads, but playing sound just creates the famous "via_audio: ignoring drain
playback error -11", which doesn't actually tell me what's wrong.)

Bug#245588: kthemestyle.so gives warnings/errors on every program -- what am I supposed to do?

2004-04-23 Thread Phil Edwards
Package: kdelibs4
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: minor
File: kdecore

Trying to running any KDE 3.1 or 3.2 binary causes these messages to flood
the screen (or the .xsession-errors file, depending on how they're started):

KThemeStyle cache seems corrupt!

kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /usr/share/icons/slick/
group not valid.

QMetaObject::findSignal:KViewViewer: Conflict with
KImageViewer::Viewer::imageOpened(const KURL&)
QMetaObject::findSignal:KViewViewer: Conflict with
KImageViewer::Viewer::imageOpened(const KURL&)

The second gets repeated over and over. The third and fourth lines only
occur sometimes.

So... what is the "KThemeStyle cache" and how do I clear it out? What do I
do about this icon directory?  Searching the debian-* lists finds nothing;
Google gives me pages in foreign languages by people who seem to be asking
the same question.
