Moving libdeflate from Debian-Med to a more appropriate team
libdeflate-dev has 3304 reverse-dependencies in "unstable"[0]. I would like to move it from Debian-Med to a more appropriate team. Are there any volunteers? Some history: libzstd-dev (3020 reverse build-depends) was also first packaged by Debian-Med but is now under the RPM packaging team. liblzma-dev (from xz-utils, 4381 reverse build-depend) has never been under team maintainership as far as I can tell. Thanks! [0] According to `build-rdeps --distribution unstable libdeflate-dev` -- Michael R. Crusoe OpenPGP_signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Packaging icons in a DEB
Hello everyone, I'm trying to create a deb file that will install icons in the menu. I've created .desktop files and placed them under /usr/share/applications. These icons do appear, but under KDE, they appear under the "Lost and found" category. I have not been able to find a guide on how to control which category they should appear under. Ideally, they should appear under a new category (more accurately, a sub-category) I create. If anyone can direct me to a guide, that would be very helpful. Thank you, Shachar

I maintain it for Fedora, and would be happy to handle it in Debian; it's a dependency for one of my other packages (notcurses). Happy to enter into a team maintainership as well. -- nick black -=- https://nick-black.com to make an apple pie from scratch, you need first invent a universe. signature.asc Description: PGP signature
Re: Packaging icons in a DEB
A tricky solution, and maybe the worst one: Install the package anbd create an icon in KDE. Look were it is residing, I believe it is mostly under ~/username/Desktop/ If you know, where it is )or where shall it be after package instrallation), edit postinst of the package in that way, that it will copy or move your *.desktop, where it shall go. It is just an idea, and I am sure, there is a much better way. Hope someone else will answer to this question, too. Best Hans Am Dienstag, 6. I already maintain multiple C++/CMake packages, and I'm looking into using libdeflate in Pistache, a library which I maintain both upstream and in Debian. Bye!
