Bug#386370: xserver-xfree86: intel 945 chipset not supported [i810]

2007-02-14 Thread eM

Hi Brice,
sorry for being late in answering your message - I was too sick to touch
any computers for weeks...

Concerning the said bug I decided to live with it - using default vesa
setting - I'm not brave enough to deal with testing/unstable Debian
versions. I want to USE my computer. Tinkering with the basics, kernels,
drivers... annoys me. If it wasn't LINUX I would throw it all away.
But it's LINUX - so I found workarounds. Managed the system to fulfill
my minimal needs resp. dispensed with.
At the moment I can see enough on the screen, I even managed to HEAR
something, got bluefish to write scripts, htmls and GTK-source - so why
bother about e.g. the facts that there is no Debian-stable-built-in Java
SDK and no Eclipse either.

As I said: I'm living with it, get used to it, gain experience by
exploring. Maybe some times I'm fit enough to build my system from
scratch. But until then I'm looking forward to Debian to develop.

It's ups and downs, but in general I appreciate and admire the work you
linux guys do all the time.

Thanks

Mechthild

Hi,

Did you by chance try Xorg 7.1 currently in testing? If works very well
on my Intel 945. So I think we should be able to close this bug now.

Bug#386370: xserver-xfree86: intel 945 chipset not supported [i810]

2006-09-07 Thread eM

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1

Can't get X running on my laptop:
ASUS A3FP with Intel 945GM chipset.

I selected the "i810" driver - which is supposed to support the 945GM
chipset - but X doesn't recognize it.
Installed Debian 3.1r2 sarge three days ago, downloading everything from
internet, so all packages and drivers should be up-to-date.

Can you please help me?

Bug#386370: Acknowledgement (xserver-xfree86: intel 945 chipset not supported [i810])

2006-09-07 Thread eM

I'm really puzzled now.
xfree86.org/4.3.0/Status.html->Intel says nothing about i945GM, but I'm
sure I surfed some pages telling me that it now does (pc-magazin.de?).
Maybe I've been mixing things up - another XFree-version - Debian
XFree86 is not the XFree86 of XFree86.org - and intel.com states that
i945GM supports SUSE, nothing about Debian.
Nevertheless there were Debian-users reporting bugs about not getting
the maximum resolution with their i945GM (so they have at least a low
one) but all this stuff always mixed up with XOrg, how in the world do I
replace XFree with XOrg? Should I?
I'm getting more and more confused - my experience with Linux is just
four days old - reanimating my DOS-roots enables me to explore and
admire bash and the power of shell-scripts - it's a GREAT system!! It
would be MAXIMUM with graphics.

Found
http://www.gatago.com/fa/openbsd/tech/16773176.html
and
http://www.gatago.com/fa/openbsd/tech/16773143.html
describing patches for Intel 945GM support for X.org
Maybe thats helpful?

Worth adding, to solve your immediate problem, you can always use the
generic vesa driver instead of the chip-specific one. This will not
give you 3D acceleration, so you will not be able to enjoy the delights
of Penguin Racer, but will otherwise work just fine, offering you
perfectly a good graphics interface.

[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Detect hard drives: [O]
Partition hard drives: [O]

Install base system:[O]
Install boot loader:[O]
Reboot: [O]

Comments/Problems:
* base-install worked fine

* base-config worked, but was unable to identify the graphics chip
[intel 945GM] so I have to use vesa driver to get X running
  - thanx for the quick help from bugs.debian.org

* didnt yet check all the builtin peripherals / devices of the notebook

* why isnt fetchmail included in the default desktop-environment
  packages?

* would be nice to have a "back to previous screen" function
in base-config - I selected wrong item, intuitively tried to
back - that of course didnt work but caused base-config to
continue with next step and as beginner it was hard for me to find out
  the right config-tool afterwards.

* in all HowTos RUNLEVEL 2 is said to be an environment without X.
But in this installation it seems to be identical with RUNLEVEL 3
Dont like that cause I like the black&white 80x25 Linux - still
exploring how to switch without reboot...

* the greatest moment during installation was when I pressed ENTER to
start partitioning: Kill WinXP - I want LINUX!!

Bug#678260: startpar has a timeout value that lets boot messages get mixed

2013-05-09 Thread Em DeEm
Package: sysvinit-utils
Version: 2.88dsf-41
Followup-For: Bug #678260
Tags: patch

Hi,

I also see mixed boot messages with startpar, especially on slow
embedded computers or on virtual machines. It seems that startpar
tries to print the messages of the last active process immediately. On
slow system, there is sometimes only one active process, which
startpar incorrectly considers as the last process overall. The
attached patch adds a better condition for this.

The patch solves the issue on my computer. Startpar is a fairly complex
program, hopefully the patch doesn't break other parts of it.

Cheers,
Em

This bug is still present in Wheezy and it's a rather serious bug. When
I set "Disable touchpad while typing" in the settings, I can't log in
anymore ("Something went wrong" fullscreen error message).

Hovewer, it's been fixed in Ubuntu (LP: #1007588). Here is the modified
patch for Debian.

Currently, the best method of classifying patients into subgroups of

org, while others exist as custom-developed scripts and applications. A
correctly displayed computed radiography image. Sometimes it is
necessary to create a function that needs to retain dynamic state and
which must be initialized the first time it is called and updated at
each subsequent call.
Extract pieces of metadata from the buffer.
This makes sharing of data between multiple nested functions easy. The
genes also require biological validation to confirm that they are
possible candidates for biomarkers of lymph node status.
The estimated error rate is the fitness function minimized by the
genetic algorithm. Each time the counter functions are called, the
associated variable currentCount is incremented. Let's look at the
function makecounter.
When writing your own image file readers, you may need to swap the pixel
bytes of high bit-depth images for the images to display correctly.
Hardware Implementation: Set the Device Type to Custom, and enter the
Number of Bits for each data type in the generated code. m executes
Perl scripts and optionally returns the results.
Other sections of the function will use typecast and swapbytes to
extract particular data values. Generated initPins function. Spectral
color is useful for unambiguously describing a color, but it can be
unwieldy for describing large numbers of colors. We can call the
function in the usual way. Other Uses of Nested and Anonymous Functions
The function handling capabilities of nested and anonymous functions
have many other uses. Wrapper methods use a search algorithm to
evaluate subsets of the variables as a group, rather than individually.
As an alternative, we can look at the original consensus sequence in a
BioJava GUI. A correctly displayed computed radiography image.
Let's look at the function makeFilter.

mobile robot is an experimentation platform with an unconventional drive
concept.
Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder generates documented and readable
code.
Any classes in the specified directory will then be available to MATLAB.
Also note that the result of byte swapping is not machine-dependent.
What is a Genetic Algorithm? Is my aircraft at risk? This makes sharing
of data between multiple nested functions easy. Engineers can use these
tools for individual design stages such as model construction,
simulation, code generation, HIL, and data analysis to accelerate the
entire development process. Lastly, we need to make small changes to the
default crossover and mutation functions to ensure that they always
return subsets of variables that do not contain repeated variables.
There are many other specialized uses for these byte-oriented functions,
such as data compression.
getCounter is customized by the value of initvalue, a variable it can
see via nesting within the workspace of makecounter. These function
handles could be returned as multiple output arguments or as a
structure, where each field is a function handle. This light interacts
with the three types of color-sensitive cones in the human eye to
produce nerve impulses that the brain interprets as a specific color.
Simple Function State Let's create a counter function that returns a
number which increments each time it is called. Here we show how to use
Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder to generate C code for a
signal-processing algorithm and then deploy that code to an embedded
DSP. If our magic number is valid, we use the result of the comparison
to set an anonymous function that we will use throughout the rest of the
reader. The DNA can either be spotted onto the surface using robotic
technology or chemically synthesized in situ. Simple Function State
Let's create a counter function that returns a number which increments
each time it is called.
Set the Solver Type to Fixed Step, Solver to Discrete, and Fixed Step
Size to Auto. It also meant we could immediately use the designed and
tested fixed-point algorithms for code generation. Let's make a couple
of counter functions.
If the SPD of either the illuminant or the colorant changes, the
perceived color also is likely to change.
This toolbox enabled us to develop our new software in MATLAB while
utilizing the C-based application. In curve fitting, you need to create
a function that
