I'm really puzzled now.
xfree86.org/4.3.0/Status.html->Intel says nothing about i945GM, but I'm
sure I surfed some pages telling me that it now does (pc-magazin.de?).
Maybe I've been mixing things up - another XFree-version - Debian
XFree86 is not the XFree86 of XFree86.org - and intel.com states that
i945GM supports SUSE, nothing about Debian.
Nevertheless there were Debian-users reporting bugs about not getting
the maximum resolution with their i945GM (so they have at least a low
one) but all this stuff always mixed up with XOrg, how in the world do I
replace XFree with XOrg? Should I?
I'm getting more and more confused - my experience with Linux is just
four days old - reanimating my DOS-roots enables me to explore and
admire bash and the power of shell-scripts - it's a GREAT system!! It
would be MAXIMUM with graphics.

describing patches for Intel 945GM support for X.org
Maybe thats helpful?
