Public bug reported: Using libx11-6 2:1.1.3-1ubuntu2 (Hardy) XevieStart() does not return this causes issues for mumble and possible other accessible software. Downgrading to libx11-6_1.1.1-1ubuntu4_i386.deb fixes the xevie extension. This issue is also reported in the follow two bugs Bug #2109

The agere_sta_fw.bin file was indeed corrupted (it was 89729 bytes long) I used recode to fix the file and now I have working WPA (not WPA2 though) with the agere/hermes card and linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic. The firmware should really be available in the linux-firmware package but so far it i
