DMA is disabled on Intrepid
Managed to turn it on using the following...
edit /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and add to the end of this file
pata_ali atapi_dma=1
Then, update the initramfs
sudo update-initramfs -u
Then reseting machine
But now the UDMA is set wrong...
su
Also getting the same problem on my laptop...
sudo dmesg | grep ata
[0.00] BIOS-e820: 3f7d - 3f7de000 (ACPI data)
[0.00] #0 [00 - 001000] BIOS data page ==> [00
- 001000]
[0.00] PERCPU: Allocating 41628 bytes of per cpu dat
Tried...
modprobe pata_ali atapi_dma=1
but still no change! :(

Attempted both
pm-suspend and
pm-hibernate
from VT1 after including no_console_suspend option during boot
pm-suspend :-
Generated no text output and the screen stayed powered on
Had to hard reset to
Apport eventually generated failure reports for both the hibernate and
suspend problems

pata_ali.atapi_dma=1 after nosplash to get it to work but I have to do this
every boot...

WiFi is intermittent and hardly ever works!
