I probably don't have the necessary history. But at the moment Scid is neither actively maintained or developed, whereas the fork Scid vs PC is. Scid is rather buggy at the moment and the interface is not as easy to use as it could be. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that the former Scid developers have gotten the project this far, I am acutely aware how much work that must have been. I am very thankful for that! Scid is already very useful as it is, but it can be better. :) I am very much in favour of this merge. Fulvio, for the people who have not been around as long, could you name a reason why you are opposed to the merge? Do you have concrete plans to develop Scid further?
