What you describe is exactly my experience as well. Entering the wrong move
happens constantly (say 1 in 10 moves) because of the otherwise nice
predictive feature. That used to be a matter of right click, enter right
move, now you get the dialog all the time. And yes, I've also thrown away
large variations full of comments because I clicked "Replace move" out of
habit.
As far as I know, Scid currently lacks a way to really easily delete the
last entered move, which is annoying because it's so very easy to enter a
wrong move.
