I'm assuming you are in Dock windows mode, key mappings for move input  
are broken there. You can try de-selecting the menu item
"Option > Moves > Show suggested moves", after that you would be able  
to enter moves by clicking on origin and destination squares.

Look for the tab "Tree Window" and click on the small triangle on the  
left of the tab, you will get the Tree menu, go to "Options > Auto- 
save cache file".

You might want to try using the Standard mode instead, de-select the  
menu item "Options > Windows > Dock windows" and restart Scid.
