Not all advanced chess players are also advanced computer users. So, such a computer newbie GM may want to easily add his Rybka or Shredder. >Arenas solution are engine files that tell the GUI how to configure an >engine in question. Hell of a work to keep them up to date. This was really necessary in times of poorly written xboard engines. I think recognizing UCI can be done in a few lines. User just selects executable and Scid runs it, sends 'uci' command and check the response. This way, we will know engine type (and probably name). -- Michal Rudolf ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Scid-users mailing list Scid-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/scid-users
