I'd confirm that for Scid, if it has the choice, the better default would be UCI as one can control the engine from the GUI. Still I'm not sure about the automagic guess, ie. if it is really userfriendly it Scid guesses only once or if it guesses all the time. There is an issue with to much automatisms. And as currently Scid already comes with two engines by default, for a complete newbe there is no need to do here anything plus if you want to add an engine to your "chess program" I think you already reached a certain level. Arenas solution are engine files that tell the GUI how to configure an engine in question. Hell of a work to keep them up to date. -- Kind regards, Alexander Wagner Universitaetsbibliothek Ilmenau Langewiesener Str. 37 98693 Ilmenau Tel.: 03677/69-4521 , Fax.: 03677/69-4617 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Scid-users mailing list Scid-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/scid-users
