Please be sure to add a copy of the GPL to your tarball; also, please use the
exact form of the licensing notice as recommended in the GPL itself and
[//www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html GPL HowTo]. These passages were
carefully written by lawyers to avoid possible misunderstandings and other
issues.
At last, for free software developers, it's very important to know the
licenses of their package dependencies and how those licenses affect their
package. The developers who don't understand that may end up with a package
that is effectively nonfree.
A great way to start would be to list and check your dependencies with their
licenses. Please provide links to find the distribution terms for each
dependency.
