OK,

Get the RedHat 8.0 version of the sendmail 8.12.6 SOURCE RPM
rpm -i that RPM,
Then cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
do rpm -bb sendmail.spec
You will have to have rpm-build installed
and you will need many libraries and the gcc compiler and m4
and other stuff.

If it works properly you will end up with a binary version 
of sendmail 8.12.6 in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/
Then you can "rpm -Uvh" that RPM.
