Run

chkconfig --list telnet

If telnet is listed as off in your runlevel run

chkconfig telnet on

and you should be all set. That said, you should try using SSH instead
of telnet if it is feasible. It is much more secure. If you need a
Win32 SSH client, I use Tera Term Pro with the TTXSSH extension. TTPro
and the extension are free.

Subject: Upgrade denying telnet now

Since I upgraded to redhat 8.0 I no longer can telnet to my machine
either from localhost or from one of the other machines on my network. I

try disabling the firewall, but the security manager defaults back to
high security and seems to ignore my changes. Anyone else get this
problem or know what to do?
