mail queue

Hi, Im a little bit confuse, Im using sendmail as our mail server in rh7.2, is "/var/spool/mqueue" the directory for outgoing mails only or both outgoing and incoming mails? when I check may "/var/spool/mqueue" theres a lot of mails in the queue how can i process it manually?     TIA Toto
