You tell me what I wanted to hear ;-) Let's compare this with Suse position: <quote> ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Hasenstein" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Dmitry Melekhov" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, November 23, 2002 9:07 PM Subject: Re: [SLE] SLES8 > Dmitry Melekhov wrote: > > > Sorry, I found that I don't satisfied with your answer. > > I'm writing too fast ;-))) > > > > See my previous mail. > > > deleted... what exactly is still open? But there is no license agreement in SLES7 box or on suse.com, so I thought that I can install SLES7 to several servers. Could you tell me where can I read RH AS subscription license or, mat be, someone can comment here do I think right- i.e. that it is possible to install updates to several servers from one subscription if I call support only for one server? > The people AS are targeted for are people who would already have > extensive support contracts on the server anyway if it were Solaris, > HP-UX or AIX. > This is funny ;-) But we run SAP R/3 on Linux. Currently on SLES7. We bought one box with SLES7 and I installed it to 4 servers and used one year maintenance on all of them (I called support only to one of these servers). Now we need to renew maintenance subsription and I found that we have to pay for 4 servers :-) I think we'll migrate to RH AS when it will be SAP certified ;-) > > On Sat, 2002-11-23 at 10:49, Dmitry Melekhov wrote: > > Hello! > > > > Could someone help me to understand RH AS subsciption licensing? > > > > As I understanded from here > > http://www.redhat.com/software/whichlinux.html > > RH AS 2.1 is completely covered by GPL. > > > > There are srpms of distribution and updates on ftp.redhat.com (great!). > > But if I'll buy one box with CDs can I install it on several servers? > > And if I'll buy subscription for one server this mean that I can't install > > updates (in binary form, rpms provided by RH) to more than one server? > > Or I can install rpms to several servers, but I can call support only if > > I have problems with updates on one of these servers? > > > > I ask this question just because I just asked Suse the same question about > > SLES8. > > Suse says that they sell service, not software ;-) , but, just because > > sources of SLES8 > > and sources of updates don't available for free I can't agree. > > > > Thank you! -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
