Gordon,

 *heh* I think you are right - I have been using the 2.4.19 kernel w/
7.3 since it was released.  I compiled with gcc-2.96 w/ rh73, and I
don't think that I changed it when I upgraded to 8.0.  So sorry, and I
will try a gcc 3.2 kernel out, and see.
