Hello,

What is the subnet-mask of IP "172.16.0.1" - "172.16.0.253" ?
How to calculate ?

that would be a class C - /24 or 255.255.255.0

since the 2nd to last number(octet) is the same, you can use
this chart as a reference:

Hello,

Thank for your help first !
How to study / learn about the file "subnet.txt"
I don't understand "netmask","aggregate","addresses" and "wild bits"....

Thank for your help more again !

Edward.

Actually, the 172 address is a Class B. The first 16 bits are the network and the last 16 bits are the hosts.
That gives you 65536 total hosts and 65534 useable hosts
The subnet mask is /16 or 255.255.0.0
