Thanks for the tips. I am sure what you are describing is the case.  My
burner is a two or three year old hp scsi model.  I may surf hp's site a
bit and see if there is an upgrade.

I will play with some of the other sutff too just to try and get a
better understanding of what is occuring but right now they are passing
the media check runs suggested earlier in the thread. At least the first
two have only 6 or so to go :)
