I may not fully understand this, but if you are copying the boot sector from the hard disk and you have not installed a linux boot loader you would be copying the windows boot sector would you not?
I am not certain this would work, but I would try making a windows boot disk. Then setup lilo.conf and install it. Copy the boot sector to the file you mentioned, "bootsect.lnx". Then boot from your windows bootdisk and repair the mbr. (NOTE: The problem is that if the mbr does not get repaired you may have to reinstall windows.) After you have the mbr repaired and the bootsect.lnx you should be able to copy it to the C: and reconfigure the windows bootloader using the HOW-TO. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Joel Lopez > Sent: Tuesday, October 15, 2002 5:14 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: how to make bootsect.lnx > > > I've read that mini how to but it tells how to do it with a boot loader > installed.
