There used to be a FAQ: The "Red Hat Linux User's FAQ" from Aaron Turner. It's still there: http://www.pobox.com/~aturner/RedHat-FAQ/ However, I think it's been pretty dormant for quite some time and I think Aaron wanted to shut it down at some point in favour of a new project. It used to be a valuable source. It's out-of-date now, but maybe it can still server as a starting point - or maybe it should be revived (you could try to contact the maintainer...)?
