I recently got a Maxtor D740X-SL 80 GB hard drive.  I installed in properly, or so I think.  After installing the drive I booted up my  PC and it gave me the following message:

PXE-E61 - Media test failure, check cable.

I think it is referring to the cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard, but the cable is newly purchased.  I'm pretty sure that I have the ATA PCI adapter card (how do I know I do for sure?).  I've tried switching the jumper from Master to Cable Select but to no avail.  I am also certain that the drive is getting power and is spinning.  When I boot the PC up, I don't hit F1, I just let it boot by itself.  Do I need to press F1 to enter BIOS?  Should I be using MaxBlast to boot, and if so, where do I get it?  I've used two different data cables and get the same results:  nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
